I live three hours from the place I hunt, so I am not able to hunt but several weekends a year. The land I hunt on is public land where the deer are very limited. We count it a great weekend if we can see four to five deer in a weekend and many times have went a whole weekend with out seeing a deer or a whole hunting season without seeing a buck. It can be very hard to pass up a young buck, when there is a great chance that it will be the only deer that you will see and possibly the only buck you will see all year. I have killed young deer in the past, but within the last five years have begun to let the young ones pass and have killed only one buck in the last three to four years. I can definitely understand those who choose to harvest young bucks

I go back and forth on this. I do agree that if he was still a threat why did he turn his back on the boy, but on the flip side I don't know how I would have reacted if I was just threatend with a gun. Hopefully I would have used more judgement than that. In a moment of panic, was he worried about retaliation, or maybe with his adrenaline pumping he just didn't think. I definelty wouldn't hold anything against him if he would of kept firing once the boy fell, but when he chased the other boy out and then came back in and got another gun that is pushing it. I do know that the pharmacist was forced into this situation. He didn't wake up thinking I am going to kill someone today. All that being said, I think he should have been punished, but I think that giving him life in prison is too much.

Heard from my taxidermist a couple of weeks ago and he asked if I drug my deer out of the woods. He said that there were spots were the hair was pulled off. I didn't notice any spots when I dropped the deer off and I don't see any in any of my pictures. Really starting to worry. I asked him if it would look bad and he said it would kind of look like a bruise. Is it normal to have this happen?

This Oklahoma weather is getting so crazy. 13 days ago it was 70 degrees then 4 days latter 12 inches of snow with temps around -10 degress and some places in Oklahoma at -34 degrees. Now its 42 degrees in OKC and the western part of state is in the 60's. Tuesday 6 to 12 more inches of snow with temps back down to 11 degrees. Got to love this Oklahoma weather.

It was sent to the processor. Maybe it was how he cut it up. The sausage wasn't bad, but the chops were terrible. I have passed up a lot of hogs because I didn't want to waste money on processing something I would not eat. May have to pop the next one and see if it taste any better.

I'll pass on those. The last wild hog I ate was so wild tasting I swear it was squealing every time I took a bite. Maybe it was just the one I had but, that has definitely stopped me from shooting any of them.
