  1. That is a great looking bow! I love my PSE DSE but I also loved the Maxxis I had before it. Hoyt has my attention again....
  2. I killed my biggest buck in a tree I could only climb up about 12-15 feet up because of a "Y" in the tree. Keep you scent down and your spirits high and you should be alright!
  3. Congrats on the deer! Good job on not giving up.
  4. nice buck! my brother snapped his four year dry spell with a small 5 point on opening morning. I haven't seen anything that makes me want to squeeze the trigger yet.
  5. I got my rifle sighted in today. I don't mind if I don't kill a buck, I would just like to see plenty of deer. I am hoping my brother can end his four year streak of not killing a buck.
  6. They are chasing pretty good, my buddy missed a nice one the other night that came in to the estrus.
  7. Very cool buck! Congrats on a brute
  8. Nockturnal nocks dont require you to glue anything and the switch to activate it is more reliable than a Luminock IMO. They weigh only 20 grains or so, so they are lighter too.
  9. Kershaw... sharper than razor sharp out of the package and easy to re-sharpen. Recently killed a doe, gutted/skinned and cleaned her up and the blade is still sharp and ready for its next taste of venison.
  10. Nope. Looks like it uses a similar concept to sight in as an HHA single pin sight. I would bite more if they came out with a vertical pin version of this. For now I will stick with my HHA.
  11. Good 'ol healthy nanny.. Congrats on the doe!
  12. I haven't used scents much in the past, but this year I am getting desperate and I am going to experiment with some different brands. From what I have read, timing IS everything.
  13. I would still do what you are doing. I like to get to my stand before the deer start to trickle into the woods at first light. Who cares what the people on T.V. are doing.
  14. Yes sir! That's a definite shooter any day all day! Great buck WTG!
  15. Agreed... I am going to hunt as much as I can on Thursday and Friday but the forecast could change.
  16. Agreed... the deer will hunker down till the end of the storm. As soon as the storm lets up the weather should be cool (at least here in PA) and the woods should explode with activity
  17. Way cool! Its tough to get one with a bow let alone stalking one with a bow
  18. Biggest buck I have killed to date was on October 15, 2011 during the "October lull" (keep in mind it is a PA buck). Temps in the upper 50's, low 60's. Winds 20-40 mph with insane gusts. (I was praying while I was in the stand a few times lol). Dad thought I was a little crazy to head out but you can't kill them on the couch!
  19. I'm using the Trophy Taker Ulmer Edge. Kinda like a Shwacker/Rage combo. It opens up with the same concept as the Shwacker but is rear deploying like a rage. Had results like your entry and exit holes there. I have always read good things about Shwacker. below is a pic of the Ulmer Edge.. See what I mean on the similarity?
  20. I noticed that the guys on T.V. will typically use a call of some sort when they see a deer that is out of range and does not look like it will come any closer. I haven't used a ton of calls myself, but I recently started experimenting. I did some blind rattling with some grunts thrown in every 45 mins or so with no success, but that could be because there was nothing within earshot. The best way to find out what works is to use different tactics. Trial and error my friend.
  21. Kind of what i figured would be happening with temps so high still... anybody else seeing anything?
  22. Anybody in PA seeing any rutting activity yet? With the temps being in the high 60's, I am wondering if anybody has seen any bucks on their feet and chasing yet?
