It's not covered by any mainstream news like so much that has happened over the past few years but eventually surfaces like Fast and Furious did. Here's one source there are others too. You do realize we have supplied the Saudis and the United Arab Emerites with aircraft and have been training pilots here in Az because of the Iranian threat? US Troops going to Israel

Love to ring steel as fast as I can. I do 6 shoots a month when I'm not hunting.

Nice. Lot's of ducks and no snow. I'll go for that. Good shooting.

Use the full choke if it came with a set of tubes or if after shooting it you cannot get a good killing pattern buy a tighter choke for turkeys. Here's a list of them from the Mossberg website and applications. O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. - Firearms, Shotguns, Rifles, Accessories, and Precision Machining

Had one of the closest calls I ever want to..

It's just amazing how heavy a 10" tree can be isn't it? When we learned to cut trees ( geez it's been 45 years) they started us out with axes and crosscut saws and horses. The instructors said it was because chain saws cut faster than our little pea brains could think and the horse knew more than we did about skidding and wouldn't hurt anybody. Glad you're okay. Logging is up there on the list with crab fishing as a dangerous job. BTW I eventually became a machinist that limped. -
I guess the feds are into facilitating the laundering of drug money for the cartels. Wachovia Bank was laundering billions of dollars and heavily fined before Wells Fargo got $50 billion from the feds to help bail them out. :hammer1: This is a good read. Most of the guys I've met who hunt all over usually use some sort of 300 magnum like the 300 win mag or weatherby. If I had to have one rifle for sporting use it would be the 300 win mag.

Make sure the spring thet they need to slide over to get into the magazine will move out of the way and snap behind them to keep them in the magazine. The shell head O.D. should be .766".

The adult stock will bolt right on. Just be sure it's for the same gauge. There are no stampings on my wife's youth model to tell what it is. It comes with a laminated stock and a short barrel for the Rem Choke system. The adult shotgun has a plain stock and a long shot barrel for the Rem Choke system.

That's the good thing about being elderly, your face doesn't light up and shine because it's smooth and perfect anymore. It's like a stealth fighter all the different angles from the wrinkles hide you. LOL Merry Christmas.

Here's a hunt I won and went on in Colorado. Had a blast killing geese but man was it cold for an old guy from Arizona!! I'm the old guy in the photo.

I remember when I was young that being sucessful on your first deer hunt was more about desire than the rifle. When we were actually trusted to go deer hunting, with the men we basically worshipped, it was a big deal. It was a time when money and new rifles were not plentiful so you learned to use what they gave you and we were desperate to prove ourselves. We used mostly cut down military rifles. The 6.5's and 7mm's being the easiest to shoot. I'm sure whatever you give your son will be fine if the desire is there. I killed a little spike that year with one shot with an eye witness and started a reputation for myself. God bless and Merry Christmas.

Here's this morning at Rio Salado in Mesa at the Hosemasters USPSA shoot. My camera girl (69 years young) failed to get stage one. I had a senior moment on stage 4 and failed to chamber a round. Did fairly well for an old fart. The pistol is my Glock 22 Gen 4 carry gun. I have a whole batch of terrible 40 S&W reloads from range brass I loaded for practice that won't go through any other gun I own. this thing eats them like they are candy. I shot Production.

Thanks Steve. I'll pass on organizing a hunt. In the last few years less and less people are willing to go with me because I live and hunt like an animal and society at large has an increasing need for comfort, safety and ATV's. The wife of the guy I took last year stood on the porch wrapped in a blanket crying as we left because she thought I was going to kill him when she found out we would stay in a tent in the snow. The Serbians are a special group, they are very tough physically and mentally. By the way I had put others onto the big bulls where I shot mine and in three days only one guy had enough sand to try it and within a few hours killed an elk. Same with the Serbs.

Luckily the snow probably didn't make it that far south yesterday. If you're in the desert you should be okay. It's a bit cooler so you should have good hunting. Good luck.

Check with Mike Bellm. He has nearly anything for a TC single shot and some cheap simple improvements for the action and triggers too. Home

Don't worry the mulies are rutting. This next week usually is the peak of it. We saw a big 3 X 4 all rutted up wandering around the archery course at Usery Mountain this past weekend. Good luck and Merry Christmas. Mark

You can apply anywhere you want and will get a preference point if unsuccessful. The OTC units are managed primarily for a high yield of animals, not trophies so let that be yur guide. If it's draw for 1st seaon but OTC for archery and the 2nd and 3rd seaons it's not a good bet usually. Most of the elk go to private or some hellhole at the first sign of pressure too and they think nothing of a 5 to 10 mile walk. It's quite an education you'r ein for. God bless. Mark

The SST bullet is a pretty soft bullet to be shooting out of the 300 mag (high velocity tends to make them disitegrate). The front of it most likely blew up and created a massive cavity and what was left poked a small hole as it went out the other side. I shoot Barnes bullets in magnums so they don't come apart especially on the big stuff like elk. Deer are fairly easy to kill and conventional cup bullets like the SST will work especially in calibers like the 308 and 30-06.

That's a pretty bull. I like the flyer off the antler. Most importantly, how does he taste? Elk is very good food.

The choice of RCBS equipment is a sound one. Yes the powder measure will work fine with ball powders and short stick powders. It won't work well with long stick powders or flake powders. I use HS-6 in my pistols (45,40 and 9mm) and Varget and IMR 7828 SSC in my rifles with good results through the powder measure. I know that at the club I belong to we are always showing the newbies how to do most anything including reloading and giving them stuff too. Join a club if there's one in your area. One guy passed away and his stuff went free to anyone we felt needed it. The starving college students were pretty happy that day.

Here's my wife and I shooting the Tactical Solutions 22 conversion for my Glock. She likes it way too much I think.

I work with some Serbians who were soldiers and came here so they and their families would not be killed after the wars ended. One of them hunts and was at a loss to find elk where he drew his tag. I made him a photocopy of a map and put an "X" on it where they should hunt. There were 4 of them with tags and 25 more went just to camp out in the snow. They cooked a goat the first night then a lamb the second. These are rugged people who love the outdoors. When he came back I asked him if they got any elk and he looked at me funny and said "of course". I asked him where and he said "We shot 4 bulls in two days right where you put the "X". I think they like me, which is a very good thing.

I had this happen regularly when I used the Speer 170 grain flat point bullet (designed for the 30-30) loaded to 2600 fps in my 30-06 for shooting whitetails in the woods. The front part of the bullet which was meant to expand at 30-30 velocities expanded violently and disappeared but the rear of it behind the cannelure was rugged enough to hold together and completely penetrate the deer in most cases. It looked like a reverse wound channel like you describe.
