Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises stated, " There is no means of avoiding a final collapse of a boom brought about by a credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as a result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system invloved." Why do we always believe the principles of basic economics don't apply to us? Maybe because we are the most powerful country on earth? Not for much longer with this leadership. Our system runs on debt and our ability to make the payments, which because of the current conditions has become impossible unless we borrow the money. We have a system that pulls in wealth from the future and depends on future growth which isn't happening now. The S&P downgraded us because we didn't show enough budget cuts in the new budget bill (they came up 2 trillion short). The govt. is calling the S&P liars and said their math is different. It is different because the S&P deals in real world facts. The govt. is basing their figures on a predicted savings. A lot like the savings I'll have this year. I'm not going to buy a new home or a car so I'll save $250,000 this year. Great! Obama was very upset when one of his underlings asked if he had studied economics at Harvard and quoted Ludwig von Mises. The president angrily quoted Sylvester Cat saying, "I hate Mises to pieces!"

You should live here in Az where they are a protected species at this time.

I have the oppostite problem lately, I take too much time to shoot and have been shooting DART to force myself to shoot quicker. Sounds like you have some target panic going on. It gets everyone from time to time. I do drills where I just float the pin on target then let down to get used to holding. Then I'll use a different release at times so I have to concentrate on the new feel and not be able to second guess when it goes off. Sometimes I'll set the release to a hair trigger then just touch it but not enough to go off and finsh putting pressure on it by pulling with my back muscles which forces me to follow through. Good luck.

Here's some info on the Lone Wolf 357 SIG conversion and an update on the 9mm barrel. I found the 9mm will shoot with the 40 S&W mags. And the woman just won't stop talking!

Feathers are noisy so are some broadheads. Blazers seem to fly fairly quiet. I have had setups that were fairly noisy but the animals didn't seem alarmed by the noise and had good luck killing deer with them and had some very quiet setups that they would come unglued when I let an arrow go because they didn't like the type of noise it made. If you are killing deer regularly I wouldn't worry about the noise.

I know the 3-D league scores have been dropping every week and we show up with more water all the time. But on the good side it sure does melt the string wax into the string nicely. :soda:

Sounds like you'll have a ball. Good luck.

I just checked and the Az deer draw results are posted. I'm going mulie hunting!

The only problem with an unguided hunt is that you need to do the work yourself which mostly means you have to contact a packer to get your elk out or get into good enough shape to do it yourself. Knowing how to stay alive in the high country can be challenging at times too. Do your homework. Prepare well.

Every chance you get to learn more about the area you're hunting and the species will pay big dividends eventually. I hunt areas I can draw each year just so I can go, and now and then I get a good trophy too. Have a great hunt and God bless.

Here I am practicing trigger reset with my 22 conversion on my stock SIG P226. It's a production gun I shoot limited with because I use 15 shot mags. You can't get cheaper practice and you won't flinch. Trigger reset is quickly letting off and then immediately putting nearly enough pressure on the trigger to break it before you get to the next target. When the sight picture looks good it goes off with slight increase in pressure and you're not prone to slap it and miss. Doing this you can hit alot of targets in very little time, even if you're old and hot.

I finally got time on the range when it was under 110 degrees and tested out the 9mm conversion from Lone Wolf. The 40 and 9 shoot basically in the same place and the 9mm Lone Wolf barrel caused some malfunctions and was inaccurate until I got a few hundred rounds through it. It shoots better the more I shoot it. It must be seating itself to the locking surfaces. The first video is the test and the second is of the target I shot before we left when I adjusted the sights to bring the point of impact to center. It's becoming a shooter. I'll get my 357 SIG barrel this week and try that out. Three calibers in one pistol and all that's involved are two new barrels and a couple of 9mm mags. The 357 SIG will work through the 40 cal mags. The last video was just because the woman was harassing me. She loves to mock me and calls me "Master Mark". In front of people too. It's because I'm a Master class Limited shooter and she is such a little snot!

As the country deteriorates there has arisen a debate. Some christians have the mentality that they need to put away food, water, clothes etc. in preparation for the hards times that look like are nearly upon us. Others accuse them of not trusting God and put their future in God's hands to provide for them. I'm of the opinion that is presented in Genesis 3:14-24. That when man was expelled from the Garden of Eden that the free stuff stopped and that we needed to work for it from then on. God provides it but we need to work. The concept of working or going without is presented in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 but is a command from the Apsotles in line with God's word. According to the Bible there is no free stuff, except salvation. Jesus did that work for us.

Good to hear from you Steve. Hearing about Alaska makes me feel even worse about the 117 degree day we had yesterday. I've got 7 weeks off to hunt further north later on though. Bet it's nicer there, eh? God bless. Mark

We've only got about 70 pounds of meat left so we need to fill the freezer again. We've got 4 tags and they're all archery buck tags. If we can't get on some good deer that's probably going to be four 1.5 year old archery bucks.

So after an admirable effort at making sure we have no jobs, and ensuring that taxes and inflation are killing us our Benevolent Dictator is going to take over the rural communities and starve us? Most will gladly give up their pitiful existence for a life of servitude after that.

The lady next door was put into assisted living and her family from Pa came out. Her son could not believe the difference between what is reported about the border situation and illegals he sees in the news and what he saw here. He was furious. He was afraid of the "street gangs" on all the corners near the place he was staying. I told him they were illegal day laborers waiting to be picked up and if he wanted we could take my pickup out and get some to jump in and drive out into the desert and let them out. He could not believe immigration refused to pick them up. When he saw the trash they leave in the desert he was more angry. Also unreported because he plays ball with the feds is Sheriff Dupnik of Pima County. He lets the cartel have a free pass and when the drugs get to Sheriff Babeau in Pinal county he picks them up. Just last week Paul Babeau's dept. picked up 109 pounds of Black Tar Heroin and 140 pounds of Meth. This was one traffic stop. The flow of drugs and people is insane here. Several million cross each year and about 500,000 are caught and returned. You probably haven't heard much about any of this. Then there's Wachovia Bank that's in trouble for laundering nearly 400 billion for the cartels. Tranfers from the US to Mexico and tranfers to buy jet aircraft for them. Only the little blogs pick up and report alot of this stuff. Some of the news story links disappear almost immediately lately. So some folks break copyright laws and copy them and repost them. The news is being very well controlled by our government for sure.

While Anthony Weiner was misbehaving our Benevolent Dictator signed Executive Order 13575 to control what happens in Rural America. It even controls recreation on rural land (hunting). FDR started messing with the farms and rural land and 10% of the population starved. We don't want the feds managing our rural communities after seeing the other "improvements" they have made already. At church last week the pastor announced that we would be getting small pallets of emergency survival rations for every family for free. It was at least a 30 day supply of a special mix of rice, soy, veggie mix that would keep you alive and healthy. Same as what we send to other countries to feed them during bad times. Many people were offended and couldn't figure out why anyone would do that. I guess that the fact our food reserves are low and the San Joaquin Valley (produces 20% of our food) is at less than 30% production because the environmentalists shut it down two years ago over irrigation water and a fish, and much of our farmland is or has been under water and ruined this year just doesn't sink in. They think because Walmart has lots of food on the shelves everything's okay. Are we really that clueless?
-
The emergency is his falling numbers in the polls. This is also a way to stimulate the economy without anyone catching on or disapproving. Our economic system needs large amounts of cash infused into it to stay afloat and this will help short term, just like cash for clunkers and the rest of the programs that eventually failed. I hear this worked for one day then oil prices went back up. Not much bang for the buck. Anyone who took economics many years ago knows that our current system is doomed to failure and the sooner we end it the less horrific the disaster will be.

The best thing about your situation is that you and your wife are aware of the situation. Being alert and planning ahead will probably keep you safe and you won't ever need to use your weapon. I know that since we have patrolled our own neighborhood and moved the people that didn't belong here (it's 55 plus) there are lots less people looking for opportunities. We had a surly liberal come to visit our neighbor and she was snotty when she asked me if it was neccessary to carry a pistol all the time. My neighbor told her that it probably wasn't anymore but she was very happy I had the courage to do it until it wasn't necessary any longer.

Okay, I didn't get the point you were making and I guess you didn't get the one I was making either. The lawmakers are the ones that have become the problem not the ones who enforce them. It would be like the difference between the disease itself and it's symptoms.
-
So living in New York you can just go buy any handgun you wish and carry it without government approval? Things must have changed for the better since I lived there.
-
When people say I carry a pistol because I want to kill someone or get smart and ask if I'm expecting trouble I tell them that if I was intending to kill someone or expecting trouble I'd have brought my rifle because a pistol is not a good tool to be in a gunfight with. Unless you are a TV action hero most of us use a pistol as a last desperate attempt to defend ourselves or others.
