  1. Check out this site http://www.nativnurseries.com/ they have alot of information on different types of oaks and some hybrid trees also sell seedlings.
  2. With what C-mere deer costs I'll never try it I have tried acorn rage they will eat it also trying buck bran with mixed results but at the same time we had corn feeders out same places they have been last 8 years and hardly hit because of all the natural acorns this year and late summer rains kept the native grasses and greens greener later. I figure its like 90% of all the stuff out there right place right time they will hit it and some deer will try stuff other deer won't. Deer Cain same way one loaction they pawed a truck hood sized hole another year 100 miles away different soil different time of year never touched.
  3. I bought a new bow summer before last (Martin Saber) it was a huge upgrade for me I was shooting a Hoyt pro-vantage Tracer awsome bow took a few deer and even a huge hog but 1991 when I got it new so yeah it was time for an upgrade LOL. Anyway it has a NAP drop away rest I had never shot a drop away rest but after a few range secions I loved it and still do I will use a drop away from now on. I have shot wisker biskits they are also a awsome rest but if I was choosing I have to pick drop away. Just my opinion based on my experences
  4. 12 inches and still falling I am right in the middle of the state. We usually get some snow 3-6 inches maybe a bit more we get lots of ice and sleet every year but nothing like this since I was to young to remember. looks like single digits all next week with highs in the 20's cold cold. I do remember it snowing on Halloween day one year as I was sittin in a ground blind with my smoke gun. Ya'll stay warm and Merry Christmas
  5. Yeah buddy its snowin so hard now I can't see the end of my side walk they are callin from 6-12 inches here goes good with 40-50 mph north winds at 22 degrees yeah its cold.
  6. That is a big nice doe great freezer meat. Nice to have a girlfriend as huntin buddy as well
  7. Bear makes a great recurve for the money Martin also has been around a long time. check out 3riversarchery.com they are all about traditional archery.
  8. Nice buck the broke tine gives character
  9. Colts--Vikings Colts winning
  10. Guys we all know how rumors are but a friend of mine was saing he had herd they are thinking about makeing powder season muzzle loader/slug shotgun season. Really wouldn't change much as the modern muzzle loaders have better balistics and range than a slug gun but it does sound like an option. Have also herd mention of a late December shotgun season but we all ready have the late season doe days with a rifle.
  11. I have been going a bit seen a nice 8 point last night out af range
  12. I have no problem with crossbows the only true bows are recurves and longbows anyway. (I hunt with a compound and love it so I am not takeing a shot at them just saying). In southeastern Oklahoma gun season starts in September and ends in Janurary (seems like with the poaching)thats why they don't have the deer the rest of the state has its a shame to cause the big buck genitics are there. The whole online check station is good and bad it gives an honest ethical hunter a easyer option to get checked in but gives the 20-30 deer a year croud a way to shoot small bucks and check them in as does (2 buck limit) and how many were shot with a gun and checked in as archery? Make it take a doe first in gun season to earn you buck tag (in certain countys) I wish people would stop killing the first buck they see let the 80 pound year old fork horn walk you need meat shoot a doe not saying you need to wait on a wall hanger just shoot a mature buck. Just my opinion. You also hear every year about how many wrecks there are and deer causeing acidents and eating someones garden but try and get permission to bow hunt there.
  13. Tell me about it I am out of hunting time for the season going to be a dry deerless year. I let a few young bucks walk early on and powder season maybe one of them will be a good one next year. May squezze out a archery deer late if I can get to the timber.
  14. So sorry for your loss I know how easy it is to become attached to a dog and how much they can mean.
  15. I have been shooting a Martin Saber the last 2 years great bow smooth forgiving and fast. They are priced where a working man can aford them as well.
  16. Nice Buck glad to see some okies haveing good luck.
  17. I hope you find your deer I have been there. It sounds like you got a better hit than you think I've seen them hit hard in the vitals and not bleed untill they fill to the entry/exit hole which may be a bit if he was running hard. You did the right thing by backing out and giveing him time.
  18. Yes I think we will have a very good year. With all the rain over the summer sure got alot of acorns and seed grains should have some nice body weights as well as good antler.
  19. Sweet I will be sure a head up there one of the 2 days
  20. Thanks guys. Yeah the deer are really starting to move rut is on for sure. I won't have a chance to get back to the woods till the 22nd opener of gun.
  21. Nice buck what did that giant weigh. He is as big as a yearling calf
