redesigned stock and trigger as well. If you buy the new wolf, they have a deal going where you can buy a compact stock thats adjustable for only $25. Great if you have a young shooter that you can pass the rifle onto later down the road.
-
good thinkin. But i'd spend a few more bucks and buy the NEW Wolf. Its been totally redesigned and has the finger removable breech plug, new stock design and a super nice trigger.
-
yeah i did remove the sights and then called cva for the open sight filler screws. They will send them to you for free, just make sure they know which screws you need, ask for Dave.

i got a Konus Pro 3-10x44 scope thursday and mounted it on the Optima. It has the 30-30 cross hair and is very fine. This is a nice scope and runs about $130 at OpticPlanet. One thing that i really like is that the scope has a recoil pad at the rear of the eye piece!

100gr powder - 295gr powerbelt will easily kill at 200+ yards.
-
in that picture, it was just a cheapie bushnell that came with a 30-06 we had bought many years ago. One of those combo deals. I now use a bushnell sportsman 3-9x32
-
yeah that does suck. im out shootin 3 muzzleloaders today.
-
alright! Got to love the new Optima's. Mine shoots 100gr Blackhorn209 with the 245gr powerbelt like a monkey on a cupcake. 100 yards,

oh and the tc impact, i checked one out at cabelas. Its super cheap and the stock again is a big failure, i call it a Bubble gum stock. The stock on the TC Northwest gets even worse. You can spread the northwests stock away from the barrel with your bare fingers and theres where i came up with the name * bubble gum stock*

Yep! I have an old cva blazer and the CEO of the company warned me to check the nipple threads for any rust/pitting. If there is any, send it in and we'll replace it with a new model rifle. Keep in mind that i paid basically nothing for the rifle!! It was built in 1986

CVA Optima, This rifle is probably the best bang for your buck at only $250 and comes with the quick release breech plug. Super shooting rifle! 250gr Thor conical @ 100 yards with 100gr Blackhorn209. Now with an Easier to find powder in the Optima i shot this yesterday at 100 yards. These were shots #13 - 14 and 15. No swabbing the barrel between shots. The Accura - New Optima and the New Wolf, These rifles come from the factory with a better trigger than you will get from the other rifle makers. The Accura is right at 2lbs with zero grit or creep. The others are just a bit heavier at 3lbs ( Lawyer trigger) Also no grit or creep. These rifles as you can see are shooting CONICALS with extreme Accuracy. TC suffers in this area big time. In fact call TC and they'll tell you that their rifles are suited for sabots... CVA offers a money back guarantee if you feel that the rifle you got, isn't the most Accurate you've owned. The Accura and especially the CVA Apex come with a guarantee of 1" groups or your money back.
-
well seeing how most havent seen what a CVA Accura can do, heres some info LOL. 250gr Thor conical @ 100 yards. This was 1" center to center. Now the Accura i shoot is unscoped during hunting season, i shot this 5 shot group @ 100 yards with 110gr Blackhorn209 with the 245gr powerbelt. That shot on the far right..... well, nothing more than the dummy behind the trigger. The first 4 aught to make up for it though! The scoped rifle is the new CVA Optima.
-
$150 with the right combo can out shoot a $1,000 muzzleloader.
-
i can highly recommend the CVA Accura! I love mine to death. For elk i would suggest Blackhorn209 Powder, CCI 209M primers and either a 338gr Powerbelt Platinum, 348-405gr Powerbelt or the best conical made. A 250 or 300gr Thor conical. My elk load is 100gr Blackhorn209 with the 250gr Thor.
-
you dont have to mod your breech plug, use cci 209m or federal 209a primers.
-
oops, multi post
-
One shot or not, black powder and the subs will hurt your barrel. Even with blackhorn209 its a good idea to run a few dry patches down the bore when you get home to cut back the black soot thats inside the bore. That can trap moisture and cause rust to form.
-
love my CVA Accura. You couldnt give me a tc, knight, traditions!
-
great buck!! What were you set up with?
-
problem with a muzzleloader
FrontierGander replied to huntinman802's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
just pour water down the bore and push the ramrod forward, actually give it a smack, then pull. If you need some extra grip use vice grips. -
Or trying to sell you something else! I used 80gr pyrodex rs and a .530 round ball on a cow elk at 140 yards. Shattered both lungs and she only went 60 yards with an excellent blood trail. I plan on hunting strictly with patched round ball in the next year or two and filming all of the hunts and documenting each kill with a patched round ball.
-
yep the poof has been seen quite a bit this year! Pellets suck.
-
you can shoot it without the screws. You can call cva and get some filler screws for it if you'd like.
-
Anyone used the new Hornaday bullet without the sabot??
FrontierGander replied to BEEF's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
i didnt like them. These are 50x better. www.thorbullets.com
