  1. It's nice to come here and not have to look at deer all the time. There's so much more out there to captivate the mind and take us away.

  3. fly, have you been drinking tonight, maybe a little blurried eyed? :clown: That suckers all of 135"+ or+ 10"es no doubt:) See where I'm going here... SLAMMER.
  4. Lol- give it time...you'll learn what to look for through experiences and alot of worn out boot soles that this dumby can't find a way to put to type right now.:sleep1:
  5. Thank you very much for the explanations. Rookie to this kinda stuff but probably not for long. Appreciate the tips.
  6. Yup....but some of us are still old school and pay attention rather than drawing attention. Whatever works for you works for me.
  7. I'll bet there ain't a one of you here that will not admit to it being one of the best $400 purchases you ever made with no regrets. I went to this bow out of a Hoyt V-tec and was not let down whatsoever at a fraction of the cost. Wish I had done that in the first place. Sorry Hoyt gang, I just tell it like it is.....for me anyhow. The thing handles like a charm and the short ATA is perfect for a ground pounder like myself. I'm sure some of our stand hunters can appreciate that aspect also in a tree that affords them cover to draw with some limitations of overall length. They are a good bow no matter what anyone tries to sell ya.
  8. If you can cut a good wide splayed print durring or just prior to the rut with a staggering gait that carries any consistancy for any distance of deep impressions and gapped hooves you're probably on the track of a swollen necked, jacked up buck. Keep a close eye on the front prints as this is where they bulk up and pack on the pounds in the front quarter. Certain times of year I believe you can tell the difference but it shouldn't be confused with doe tracks in the spring when they are carrying fawns. Many times those tracks as impressive as they seem are just the opposite.
  9. Not sure I would wanna be sitting on them... rather behind them if you know what direction they'll be coming in from. They act like geese till the shootin' starts,.... then they act like geese again and get the flock outta there. Never tried it with the bow, but several times I wish I would have instead of the slug gun. Almost seems they are drawn to landmarks like that in open terrain.
  10. Very cool pics of your job Kyle....now hurry up and get back home.
  11. Sure that would work but my remmedy involves 2 1/2 gallons of water, a nut, a trip plate, a bucket and trigger rig, and doesn't make nearly as much noise. Chances are your neighbors will never see or hear a thing. You'll sleep like a baby through the night as well..:sleep1::sleep1:
  12. Very cool for you. Bet the lady in your life can't wait for you to get issued your first set of official handcuffs:clown:
  13. Those pics look nothing like your avatar bud. You sure you didn't scan them from the pics that came with your new wallet.:clown:
  14. That helps, thanks Ken. One more dumby question for ya...sorry What's water bath? A cooling process I presume. I never did this kinda thing before.
  15. Sorry I couldn't help but laugh at this one. Ya know, sometimes when you know where your at in relation to deer activity and time of day....well you'd be amazed at what you can get away with within earshot of your quarry. For the most part, deer hear distant sounds and up close and personal sounds every day and as long as they pose no immediate threat to them they are just another sound they adjust to. I don't think deer have the sence of reason to disipher between a clang from a climber or old neighbor Joe working on his rusty pick 'em up truck depending on where he is at said time of day. That same buck will most likely come unglued if he hears that same clang as he stages in an oak flat or creekbottom away from civilization prior to feeding time or watching his backtrail to a bedding area. I'd be willing to bet Pops knows exactly what he's doing out there. Pay attention and learn from it.
  16. Heck....who's complaining other than you? Those are awesome shots Mike!
  17. Bet'cha I got a 5 gallon bucket method that will cure all your pains.:clown:
  18. Yeah baby....meat is good! WTG on the doe! they don't all come that easy! Sounds like you had your work cut out for you to get a shot off. Congrats to you!
  19. This is why I'm here. So it's an extract I can find in the supermarket or no? What am I asking for?
  20. My bad... gotta ask....what's pectin(shur gel)?
  21. That's some god plinkin' with a pellet gun. Haven't done that in a long, long time. Good shootin'.
  22. The more thought I give this one, the more I think you may do best to at least blow a call over to him and explain things just to clear the air. Who knows, he just may respect your honesty enough to grant you permission to roam his woodlot. Some folks are funny that way and you need to earn their trust somehow before they grant access instead of just showing up at the door and asking permission.. May be a great way to break the ice and start some conversation. Some of them old hermit neighbors are always looking for something they have in common to talk about. I don't think it would hurt nothing none to try at this point.
