  1. Well spoken! I'll calm down now. Least there's a few of us left with half a brain.
  2. Guess what gets my goat about this the most is that NAW felt this was a worthy story to publish in an educational hunting mag. I'd just assume read about someones well thought out tactics shooting up slickheads than this malarky. I love to read about hunts from the hunters but this has crossed a very definative line when it comes down to taking a positive stance on what this media promotes in ethical hunting. Next time show me a picture and spare us (or at least spin) the story. Another black eye for all of us to walk around with. I'm not even sure why I pay to read this crap anymore other than to have something to gripe about.
  3. Best link I could find to the story. I'll bite my tounge at this point and refrain from any potty mouth bashing of Bill Rushford. Hope this is his 16'th minute of his 15 minutes of fame. Not the NAW article but this about sums it up. WTG buddy... you done us "hunters" proud by "KILLING" a magnificent buck.:crutch: By the way...., stage left is to your left dumb donkey. http://www.freep.com/article/20081211/SPORTS10/812110394/1008
  4. Anyone disgusted by the "Michigan's Plexiglass 'MOOSE'" on page 17 the way I am? 197 3/8" brute..... but at what cost? Fact that this dude was one of the feature stories is upsetting to me. A sloppy slob shot I don't think any single one of us would condone. Well I can only speak for myself. Now he's famous for his kill. That's all it came across to for me. He needed that buck at any cost and got lucky. I hope this fella dissapears like the set of the sun and never comes back. Full blown jerk with no respect for the game.
  5. Wow, this post was ressurected from the archives. Welcome to RT Weldergirl. All my roasts are slow cooked in a crockpot. You can't go wrong that way. Juicy and melt in your mouth delishious.
  6. Seen it in a 65 mph zone... never experienced it. Way to keep your composure and land that flapping bird.
  7. Thank you all for this insight... away I go for a new battery pack and charger. Was beginning to feel naked walking the woods without my cam up to snuff. So much I missed sharing with ya's in this down time. Nuff to make your head spin crazy in this down time if you seen what I seen and couldn't share it here. Ain't the best cam, but I like to show you all what I see best I can, whenever I can.
  8. Any and all is always a good start! Let's hope so.
  9. Bet you're close. Probably more like, "why are we fighting for freedom only to have our own liberties taken away?" Just a slap in the face to the troops IMO that it ever came up. Smoke an "Oscar Meyer Weiner" if you choose.., but no "Manly Marbs" allowed??? At least don't get caught. I don't get it.:surrender:
  10. Them pronghorns are in trouble that's for sure! That target gonna double as a deke?
  11. I don't know what's skinnier, the walleye's.. or Capt Daves eyes lol. J/K:clown: We have done several Quebec trips over the years, even to remote fly in lakes. The scenery, peacefullness, and the hospitality of the lodges staff is what kept us coming back over and over. Only remember ever catching a 13lb pike and a 7lb LM that ever made the fish worth the trip. Other than that the experience of getting to camp through hundreds of miles of dirt roads, crossing wooden bridges, wildlife seen 'en route, shorelunch with the fam, and good old camp fun when the boats were docked made every trip one to remember. You're doing a great job with the young'ns man! Keep it up!
  12. I hear ya there, same here. My MIL likes hot stuff so I made her up a special batch and even replenished the Scoop supply in both homes. Will call her in a bit to see if my concoction compares to okie's sphincter blend! :bat: You guys are right in making it yourself in bulk quantities. Mine was just a test run of about a quart. Hopefully I can duplicate on a larger scale to jar. I'm out already and still have half a bag of chips left lol
  13. Welcome home. Glad your trip was an enjoyable one.
  14. Used to put a few blocks around the propperty year round with cams over them. Late spring into summer seemed to draw the most attention from both fawns and adults. I've heard it said that around here they tend to find all the salt they need on the roadsides winter and early spring. Sounds totally logical to me. We skip right from summer to winter here when the lake effect machine kicks up. I only ran a few cams around the house durring fall hunting seasons, so my experience at that time of year is limited although they did use them, just seemed to me to be less frequently.
  15. +1 Was back on when I was done making rounds at a few other back up sites.
  16. Have lost my share from the ground. Deflections off brush that wasn't visable through my sight window or scope. Setting up over fresh sign on the spot, I would try to get away with not disturbing an area in the least. I now do minimal trimming before setting up and take any clippings back to my set up location to not alert any approaching deer.
  17. :happybday: Have a good one! Gotta run, somethings burning, lol

    oh no....

Oh man you're in trouble. If you're watching what she's watching..... ...that means your watching too!
  19. Like any sport, huntings a game of endorsements and props. If it works for you back it and if it fails..., blame it within it's own fault. Period. Some of the most accomplished hunters out there are willing to share this advise if you know where to find them to ask. I'll bet David's no different than you or I. Sure would love to let the air out of a mature buck every chance I get, but ultimately we pull our own triggers making our own decissions to what's a shooter and what is not. If dissapointment or unachieved expectations are what's bothering you, ya better start looking a little closer at the way you hunt. Do your homework, take a look in the mirror and ask yourself.... who am I as a hunter? The answer should come easy. If this is where Davids at.... I say more power to him!
  20. That's what I have now. Not happy with them at all from the start. nimh? mah?? Never got too technical on batteries for around the home use? With all the baby stuff here though, may be worth learning more about to be multi- functional as cinch mentioned. I'll check them out closer. Thanks all.
  21. All this talk, and Williams pics have got me making a mess in the kitchen as I type. Looks like this batch is going on tacos though. Somebody ate my Scoops!
  22. Any recommendations on a brand. Just need them to run my personal digital cam in double A's. They'll be at room temperature for the most part untill hunting season. Had a batch of Radio Shack batts that have been nothing but headaches from day one. Looking to upgrade to something that will hold a charge when not in use for a few days and not burn out at the first flash after that if the charge isn't refreshed fully. Appreciate any advise.
  23. Congrats man. Be sure to give us a pic when you get him/her. Good lookin' labs the rest of you have posted.
