Where were your crosshairs when you pulled the trigger? I've been shooting win. BST for a long time, and have yet to have a deer not bleed. Most of my shots have either been heart/lungs, or high shoulder. The high shoulder shot deer didn't go more than a yard. The heart/lung shot deer would normally go from 40-100 yards, but would leave good blood

The poaching part would really get my blood boiling too. You're a man though, so do what you feel is right. It would be less of a headache to find yourself a new place to hunt.

Sounds like a lesson I learned a long time ago. When I was in my early teens I had an uncle that would take me hunting with him. Whenever we would get out of the woods he would always ask me what I saw. If one of his buddies was hunting with us and didn't much of anything and I did he would yank my butt out of that tree and put is friend in it on the next hunt. Didn't take me long to learn to keep my mouth shut about deer sightings until after the deer was dead. My best advice would be after this season to take down your stands, and not replant next summer/fall. Do most of your hunting out of a climber, or a loc'on that isn't very noticable. Hunt natural food sources and the edges of bedding areas. If they aren't going to help you then why help them? You will still be able to kill deer, but you're just gonna have to get to know them a little better. Chances are they'll lose interest in your spot a lot quicker if there isn't a ready made set up for them.

Redeamed myself this morning! Busted a big ol' nanny at about 20 yards. Feels good to get that monkey off my back.

Well fellas, I haven't missed a deer in five years with a bow until today. Sat this am from about six o'clock until about nine o'clock and didn't see a thing. My buddy sends me a text wanting to know if he can come over and zero his rifle. I told him to come on over and I would go ahead and climb down. I get down take my stand off the tree, and strap it on my back. As soon as I look up three does are coming out of the field and into the woods straight to me. I throw my stand off my back and kneel down to get an arrow ready. I also had to pull my quiver off to fumble an arrow out of it. The first doe walks 15 yards in front of me spots me and spooks. She ran out to about 35 yards and stops broadside, so I draw pick my spot and release. TTWWWAAACCCKK! Unfortunately the thwack wasn't the arrow connecting with the deer, but the kind of sound an arrow makes when it slams into a tree limb. And to top it all off my "friend" never shows or even gives a courtesy call. I'm a bit frustrated to say the least.

It got up to 85° here today. Last Sunday the high was in the 60's, and the deer were on the move. Didn't see a single wood goat this evening until I was riding out of the woods.

Congrats on the doe redkneck! I saw three on Sunday. One doe, a scrub buck and spooked a pretty good one on my way out. I would have shot any one of the three if they would've given half a chance.

I doubt I'll ever be able to top him either. Not a day goes by that I walk by him and think about how lucky I am that our paths crossed. I've been out four times since last Wednesday, and have only seen a doe with a small fawn. These 90 degree days probably aren't helping anything either though.

Well boys day 1 was a bust for me. I was up in the stand at 5:45 this morning, and sat until 9:30. I picked my camera up on the way out, and apparently there was a little six point in front of it at 5:30 fifty yards from my stand. Besides not seeing anything it was still awesome to be up in a tree for the first time in a while.

Looks like we have a pretty solid team. I'll be able to start slinging some arrows on Sept 15.

Good looking deer man. I see at least two "genetics" in there. -
Man luckily it was just a hose. I had to get the heater core replaced in mine last year. The first shop I called said it would cost around $1000. I kept calling around and found one that would do it for $700. Apparently Chevys are a pain in the butt to replace a heater core.

I'm a lefty, so mine stays in my left pocket.
-
We have one that eats out of our bird feeder every afternoon. I have decided to wait a few more years to harvest him. From the looks he as some decent "genetics" that need to stay in the herd a little longer.
-
Those little "Pac Man" dudes eat all the stink off of you, so the deer can't smell you. At least thats what the commercial says.

Yeah he wasn't afraid to have his picture taken. I had a ton of pictures of him from January until the first week of archery season and then he quit showing up. I picked the camera up and put it behind my house, which is about a mile from the other spot and there he was. From the time he showed himself on camera til the day I shot him I only had one daytime shot of him.

Thanks guys. The date is wrong in two of the pictures. My Leaf River is all over the place when it stamps the time and date.

After seven months my boy has finally come home to stay. The pictures of the mount are not the best, but he looks awesome. I swear if you stare at him long enough you will see him move.
-
Thanks guys. I was wanting to wait until he was finished to post any pictures of him, but the wait has been killing me.

Stopped by the taxidermist to check on my boy last week, and took a couple pictures. He's going to look awesome when he's completely finished. They still have to build the base, and fix a couple of small things.

Here's my baby girl Hero Shot -
I have an IR-5, and it worked pretty good for about the first six months. Then the internal clock started messing up. When I would go to pull the card on it the date would always say 1/1/2000. I emailed Leaf River and got a reply back the next day. It was still under their one year warranty, so they fixed it for free. My only complaint is that they waited until after I bought mine to drop the price $100:bang:.

Well guys, it looks like I struck out this season. Called in two nice toms for some friends of mine, and they were able to seal the deal. I only could manage to go for myself about four times. Even though I wasn't able to get on one myself it was still a lot of fun. The birds were hammering just about every morning, but I guess the neighbors pasture was just a little greener than ours.
