i had a friend shoot a huge buck the other morning with a .243 100 grain bullet, right in the shoulder and lungs, and he took one step and fell over, and if ya need proof i just posted pics in a thread i made about manitoba bucks, check it out!
-
id be guessing 145-155 , whichis bigger thanany buck that i have shot so far, let him have it!
-
congrats on a great buck!

Well its day three of the manitoba rifle season, and the bucks are cruisn every where, one of my good buddies dad shot a monster opening morning, not much of a story to it, had been hunting 15 mins, buck came out 70 yars, he dropped him, the next morning, i rattled in a little spiker, and needing some meat for the freezer, i decided i couldnt pass the 30 yars shot, so i took him with a good clean shot, move on to tonight ( novemeber 16th) same property i shot my little buck on yesterday, i had to move to a different spot due to the wind, and not long afterwards, a doe came crashing out about 175 yards away, a buck right behind her.. and he was BIG!, so i hollered out a bleat for her to stop, she did, he kept running and jumped right on her, she turned round and shook him off and went to go back the way she came, so i let a shot out, just over his back, i managed one more, only to watch him prance away with his lady into the bush, the only good news is that he went back into my place, so hopefully il catch him in the morning. Anyways, hope you enjoy the pics , and good luck to everyone ! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Went in and switched to grim reapers and I'm shooting fine now, was a quick fix considering I leave on an elk trip tonight, thanks for the advice th guys

I shoot a Martin pantera bow, with a whisker biscuit, carbon impact fat shaft 6000 arrows with blazer vanes, 31.5 inch draw length, and im in no way trying to toot my own horn, but I was shooting deadly with my field points over the summer, I broke the record for thehigh score at my local 3D range this summer, so it not lack of practice or that my bow is outta wack
-
Im sighting in my arrows with broad heads now, as i have been shooting with feild points all summer, and i had to adjust because my broad heads ( muzzy mx3's) were shooting low, but now they seem to be shooting to the left, and im wondering if the blades need to match the vanes? do they actualy need to line up like some people have told me, or does it not matter like some other people have told me, it may of just been me cause i had been shooting alot and could of gotten tired and started to not have as good form after shooting lots of arrows, but regardless im trying to figure out about the blades matching the vanes and if it really matters, thanks guys.

The arrow was pretty much clean(from being in water for 12 hrs) except for what looked like a little bit of fat on it, and it felt greasey, long after i had it out of the water, the blood is also hard to follow because there is lots of water in the feild, but i went through the bush today, back and forth, gonna have to go out again tomorrow and try, problem is its on another persons property, who gave me permission, but hes a hunter and its hunting heaven, bucks galore, there was 15 on the feild when i shot at the one last night, so he may not want lots of people tearing through his bush, two days before the rifle season starts and he can start hunting there.
-
Found the arrow, totaly submerged in water all night, found some white hair witha little bit of brown in it, covered in blood, and three other little spots of blood with nothing else, gonna go look once more still because i want to be positive im not letting a deer go to waste
-
went back, coulndt find blood, couldnt find the arrow, i was on the ground and he was in some taller grass that would swallow up an arrow and make it very hard to find if it passed right through, it was to dark to really see anything, so with no arrow, im not sure where to g from here, i guess il go look for blood in daylight and then go check te bush he ran to for some blood or hopefully him in a bed.

Its so hard to describe the sound, the way you described the way a lung shot should sound, sounds like the way this shot sounded.. it did sound like it hit bone, but its so hard to describe a sound like this to someone
-
He was right broadside, it made a loud thump when it hit him.
-
Ok, so i took a shot at a buck tonight.. 20-25 yards it was pretty dark, aimed at his vitals, let him have it, it made the noise an arrow makes when you hit a deer, and he turned aroud and walked back across the feild he came across to get to me, with his tail down, very slowly, and i watched him till i couldnt see him anymore, he had walked about 200 yards, he looked back once.. but he kept his tail down the whole time. I feel really good about the shot, but from my description, what do you guys think? He sure acted like a mortaly wounded deer to me, but some input from some more experienced hunters would be greatly appreciated.
-
All that really matters is if you decided to pass on him or not, and you deemed him a shooter, and i would of done the exact same thing, congrats on a beauty of a buck
-
Great video, and a great bull, congrats

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Got him last night, came in with his bachelor group like they have been doing for two weeks, finally got permission to hunt on the land, had i been able to wait id prbably have a 160 inch buck on the ground, but couldnt pass this shot up, and im more than happy to take this as my first buck with a bow, a thirty yard shot with the muzzy three blade through both lungs made it a very easy track job.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Shot this girl last fall on the opener of rifle season, she dressed out about 140, thats one thing i love about the hunting here, we dont have the deer population alot of the states have, but our deer are big healthy buggers wtih lotsa meat on their bones

Season started monday here in manitoba, its been slow so far, its rained tuesday, and last night, and supposed to rain all day and night todaytoo, ive still managed to seea couple bucks, and have a couple friends who have put a smack down on some deer, this weekend is supposed to be clear and cooler, cant wait, good luck to all !

Congrats on the new bow, i also shoot with a Whisker Biscuit, i like it, im sure it may knock your fps down a tad, but not anything significant, i like it because once its in, its in there and wont come out until you have to shoot, or take it out, i havent noticed any damage as long as your using blazer vanes, it all comes down to personal preference though , there are lots of fall away's that are great rests too

Any chance you could throw up a link to see one of these things, ive never heard of one, but it sounds like i could use one

Well i can say that im gonna glue my own inserts in now forsure, had the regular shop i go to been open, i could of avoided this whole process, but everthing ended up working out very well, so im happy now
-
Well i went to a neighbours, put some loc-tite on them, let them sit for about 2 hours, went and shot, didnt loose a single insert.. and to top it off i won the shoot, so what was a horrible frustrating morning turned into a great afternoon, im still not sure what the guy did with the inserts though, he must of mixed the epoxy wrong or something, they all came out by hand, it was quite the mess.
-
It all started friday when i went to take my arrows into the archery shop to get re-wrapped and fletched because i had a horrible time with the ez shrink quick fletch, so i was gonna go back to the original way, took them in, guy said they were busy, and to come pick them up in a day or two, had a family reunion all weekend so couldnt go saturday, was gonna go sunday only to find out that the bloody store is closed till tuesday for the long weekend, and theres a 3d shoot on monday, so i decided to go into the only hunting store open in the city and buy a dozen new arrows that i was told would fly alomost identicle to my arrows, and they do, the guy also said wait a couple hours before shooting so the insert glue has time to dry, well i shot three arrows last night,(about 5 hours after i bought them) about 20 today(over 24 hours).. ive lost four inserts in my target, all my good feild points are on my arrows in the closed shop.. and i havea 3d shoot in 3 hrs.... any one else have insert issues like this?
