SHHHHHHHH!!!! better not let that get out... Rumor is the Chinese are going to stop lending O boy $$$$$ he may look north to support his spending habits....

nothing wrong with that. i tell my kids and lots of teens that want after school jobs, that school is their job. and that like any job, when you take a second something has to give, and neither job gets your full attention. toss in some sports at school and now you have three...high school is the equivalent of a 9-5 anywhere and teaches you a healthy respect for scheduling time and work loads.... much like any occupation you will eventually have.

small Business owner X2.. www.alaskainterlock.net is currently the primary business.. the wife took over the company she was working for in 2007, when they went into bankruptcy... we dumped the $$$$ costing parts and kept the Interlock side..we are now in 22 communities around our state, and i spend a lot of time on the road teaching Alcohol education to middle and high school kids as well... we work with our clients to rehabilitate them and ensure they have the skills and education to not repeat the DWI/DUI mistake they made.. i also own and operate ( when the economy is good) Nemesis Engineering.. building log home kits here in interior AK.. however the last 2 years has been rough as the banks are not financing any new homes....

ManLooses Life Trying to Emulate Survivorman
Wobbly_Alaska replied to TBow's topic in Canadian Outdoorsmen
wow TBow not to be obtuse but....that list sure ... ah.... brings light onto todays outdoors folks... i think that some education is in order. what happens when you HAVE to survive and don't have any of that stuff? to many people take chances based on the hype of the equipment they are fooled into buying? cell phone for survival? sure if your in phone coverage, have battery life to get you out to coverage, spot? lots of places it does not work yet... survival skills are a must.. like how to start a fire at -40.... guy was just rescued last weekend here in AK... set his $10,000 snow machine on fire to keep warm when he got lost. had now idea how to scrape the pitch off the black spruce and get a fire going. to many folks do not know how to build adequate shelters, or to melt snow BEFORE your drink it.. or that keeping the core of your body warm is the key to surviving. here it is spring time around much of the country.... what happens if you fall through some ice... phone and electronics are now wet.... or gone.... car goes off the road edge in the dark... down the hill... where no one can see you.. ATV or snowgo breaks down or wrecks and your injured. every year we get folks that have NO IDEA what it means to survive. last year one kid got lost twice in Denali National park... park rangers said he would be arrested if caught in the woods again... two kids got rescued pushing the spot 911 button because the sun never set... today folks put entirely to much emphasis on electronic gismos... and leave their brains at home.. we should ALL be teaching our kids how to survive if need be. everyone that takes a kid hunting or fishing should be teaching more then to shoot and kill... Does your kid know what to do ... IF YOU GET HURT? -
oh yeah i can one up that..... not only does mine buy me guns... she lets me buy them for her;)

seems to be a lot of interest in shed hunting.. i stumble across them in the fall out hunting, but don't drag them home, kids will leave them at camp but thats where they stay... i have a stack of moose and caribou antlers out behind the greenhouse from those i am required to haul out per the regs... so my question is.... WHAT do you do with them? collection? is there a market for them? i know that bundles of moose antler will go at auction for about $8.00 a lb here for carvers... or is it just an excuse to get out in the woods? curious is all... thanks Vince

LOL every time i see a statement like this i can not help but wonder... remember that gal that was interviewed election day...happy as can be she would not have to make her house payment, car insurance, and he would help pay all her bills? i have to wonder what she thinks today!!!!!

is that not the goal of all socialist regimens? the only way to keep all of the people under the nail all of the time, is to take away all of the opportunity. if you must depend on them to survive, you are beholden to them the problem is... that running a socialist Government eventually you run out of other peoples money

Little bit different here, we have such tough antler restrictions on our area... i take photos after. as i am often by myself putting the meat in the freezer is more important then the memories of it. it would be nice to film our moose hunts one day, but i am not willing to let a legal moose go by for the filming...good luck at it i sure enjoy seeing some of those that are...

OH yeah i forgot about that... she donated all kinds of stuff for those guys to hunt last year and i am sure will do so again this year. they have a huge program for wheel chair operations and all and we got passed this year that wheel chair bound folks can hunt Griz or browns over bait with a special permit for a once in a life time opportunity.

i shoot the nosler accubonds in my 300 wm and my buddy in his 300wsm... both hold 1" groups at 200 yards with RL 22 behind them and CCI mag primers. I also buy NOSLER Ballistic tips, in 180 at half the cost of the accubond for sighting and shooting both have the same BC and a ballistic tip as a back up makes a hard hit. the bull in my avatar met the accubond on a front quartering shot and dropped in his tracks as did the years previous moose. the bears i hit with them also enough damage to put them down fast.
