  1. I have a huge dog problem, now we run dogs as well, but we know our dogs and not our dogs. We shoot other dogs... I watched a retriever mix and a shepherd take down a mature doe, from that point on i said dogs get no more free passes.
  2. Honestly i'm not a huge fan of them, from everyone i know that owns one they get the same as their v8 trucks used to get before they traded in on an ecoboost, but then again i'm also skeptical about the longevity of a turbo gas truck motor if its used like a truck
  3. Went in last week to look around... littered with sign.... hung a couple cameras and hung a stand. I don't have anpost seas ok n option at all as I'm only home for my mid tour and season runs for another 3 weeks after I'm back on the other siden of the world. Hopefuly with the 2 god days of rain and the week of not touching it will yield some results
  4. scents work because they are now breaking off as solo bucks... still entirely to early to call. this time of year unless its a monster they are still in bachelor groups. and will break off later in the season
  5. WAY too early to call in that part of FL. the rut doesnt happen till late jan early feb. they are still on feeding schedules right now.
  6. The guys know that the dogs are not to go near this portion... now granted once they are already running then that cant be helped but they dont push the dogs through it like they do on other parts.

    Live deer cam

Don't know what all of y'all think about The crush, but being stationed in South Korea gives me prime hours to watch their live feeder camera. Any of you guys ever look at it?
  8. Ok, so I have family land just over 1000 acres... now here is my dilemma. Right smack in the middle of it is 6 acres that i dont own. I know the person that owns it and we let a hunting club hunt on our property, in exchange for fee's and keeping up the paths that I use to access the property lines. They do run dogs. BUT there is about a 30 acre patch that I know they wont go. Its too thick to access by truck or 4 wheeler. But in that 30 acres i have a flowing water source and large oaks. Do you think it would be worth my time to hack a way in there (just big enough to walk in on) and hang a camera for a week or so just to see whats in there? The whole farm and that is probably the last place left truly untouched by anyone including me over the last 5 years.
  9. love my viper... the only thing (to me) that is more comfortable is my lawn chair in a ground blind
  10. thanks guys, good to be back... ready to see some good stories and some pictures of deer down!
  11. Thanks for the report! Have questioned rage for years. And got the conformation I need. I will continue to use my Muzzie's which on FL/NC deer look like a 12guage slug went in them.
  12. ^what all of the said! as long as there isnt a moderate to strong wind it works.
  13. thanks redkneck... almost lost a marriage over stupidity... PCS'd to Korea, man its been a hectic year and a half... but finally back on track now hoping to get back up to speed
  14. Don't really recall if any of you guys remember me or not, but after a long, long hiatus due to some family issues i'm back.
  15. Never tried them... something about the spider clip retention system doesn't sit well with me. However there are plenty of people that shoot them with no issues.

    Bow purchase

Ok many different options here. DB has given sound advice... I am a little partial but i like the diamond line up really well. Performance on a budget to me. However it all depends on what one wants out of a bow. Shawn, I would suggest looking at a .350 or .340 spine arrow the 5575 is a .400 and weak for that set up.
  17. Saw 2 bucks shot with these this season... not a pass through on either shot. Yes the make a great blood trail but it broke both the arrows, first one lodged on rib and other one lodged in shoulder. Both stopped dead on bone. Not bashing them at all, but i just prefer a fixed blade. Sometimes they are just the better option.
  18. Guys I smoked a goofy racked 9 on Tuesday. He would have been a 10 but one of his split bows was broken almost to the y. I will get him entered as soon as I get back to FL from Illinois. There is another 14 points for us!
  19. Awesome buck! Just thought I would inform the team that I just got to Illinois. Will be here for 2it weeks
  20. Ok, i gotta ask... what grain and spine arrow are you shooting too? Total finished weight is what i'm asking.
  21. Season opener down here good and cold too... saw 2 this morning I named them dumb and dumber.I get pictures of them all day everyday. According to my cameras things should get interesting this afternoon! Got 2this bucks and a doe I'm after down here happy hunting everyone! Be safe and lets win this thing! My team win last year and I would like to keep my championship lol.
  22. Glad to hear no mid season switch!!!! If you bought that bow new then going to something different would throw you off big time. It takes time and patience to get aquainted with new equipment. I switched in april and am just now getting comfortable enough with it to trust it in any situation that would arise. Don't just limit yourself to PSE though there are many great companies out there that have AWESOME equipment. I shoot a Bowtech Invasion myself. I also like Elite, and New Breed. Keep your options open. Things to consider: Draw cycle, back wall, how well it holds, and after the shot feel. Find the bow that has all those things and you will be OK.
  23. must be nice... our season hasn't even started yet! 2 more weekends then i will be in the stand!
