Has anybody ever bowhunted/killed a deer while only wearing short sleeves? I am thinking that is the only way I am going to be able to stay cool until it cools off outside.

If I climb higher than 15ft (say 20ft), how is this going to affect my shot placement? Now I've heard people say that you have to compensate for the angle, and I've heard people say that unless you are rediculously high, it doesn't matter. I don't have a rangfinder, nor do I have the money to buy one. I am pretty good at judging distance and do so with trees when I get up in the stand.

How can I have/get cover if I'm hunting in pines?

I almost had a deer in range last night but a doe busted me. The only thing I can think is that maybe I wasn't high enough to be out of their sight. I try to get about 15ft up. Any tips to help me finally get my first deer with a bow?

Yep, got a short sleeve shirt that is very lightweight that I wear on rare occasions. Shirt has a treatment that is supposed to help kill odors. When I bought that shirt I was using it with a long sleeve mesh bugsuit. There are lightweight clothes on the market in long sleeve and short sleeve. Ever shoot a deer while wearing short sleeves? Are you bow hunting?

Long sleeves today and the sun is going to be on me the whole time. I have a good wind so as long as I can deal with being hot I should be ok.

Ended up putting on long sleeves but never saw a thing.

I'm going with short sleeves tonight. Too hot to sit in long sleeves.

Anybody ever hunt in short sleeves?

I've got 2 bottles of water in the freezer now.

I put out some Crushed sugar beet juiced a couple weeks ago and all it did was kill the little bush I put it on. I don't believe in all that stuff but people keep buying it so they must work somewhere.

Do they work? I spray down but I just keep sweating. Especially wearing a long sleeve shirt.

I'm starting to not believe the whole playing the wind thing. Now I'm not saying that you don't want to be downwind of the deer, but I'm starting to think its impossible. I was sitting in my stand today and watched the steam from my Thermacell blow in all directions. I've come to the conclusion that if you don't hunt a good stand or not hunt at all because of the wind, you're only hurting yourself. Come to think of it, I've never sat in a stand and only had the wind blow in 1 direction the whole time.

Anybody who hunts early archery season knows that it's hot. By the time I get to my climbing stand and start climbing, I'm dripping sweat. By the time I get up the tree, well it's just rediculous. What do you do to remedy this problem?

I'll be back in a tree tomorrow afternoon. Hoping to finally get my first deer down with a bow!

I plan to get in there around 3 or 3:30 so I can take my time climbing and cool off/ settle down before the deer should be moving.

Yeah, my wife is already getting tired of hunting and bows and deer and hunting on TV. Oh well!!!!!! 4 pointer now by the way.
