i use ethier one just a little diffrence,i like to be versital for that pinch hitting situation that may arise.I been in some sappy situation's where my release act'ed up and the fingers got the job done.TO all learn both. cool.gif

Mick, nice bow you have there. Are you near the upper end of available poundages and do you hunt with it?

Being a very short bow (even with correspondingly short draw length), you will be getting more 'finger pinch' when you draw than you would with a longer a-a bow. That's because the angle formed by the string at the nock is tighter.

The result is it's much more difficult to let the arrow go in a consistent manner. Using a release means there is only a small contact area and you're not introducing variable drag from your fingers; hence a more accurate way of shooting.

I like shooting fingers and that's how I shot for several years at first. In fact, I still shoot a recurve quite often, although I'm not very good at it. The accuracy of a release aid is really enjoyable.
