VTbowman
Re: Fingers or release? Fingers on my trad bows. I shoot release on the compounds and tried fingers once but it just felt weird. Funny how it feels right on a trad bow and not on a compound. For me anyways... puffy
Re: Fingers or release? I have only shot fingers since I started bowhunting as a kid. I shoot Instinctive bare compound presently w/fingers. Don't know how a release would feel or work for me.
billygoat
Re: Fingers or release? I like a release, but if I were shooting a traditional set-up, I would have to go with fingers. to each their own! For me... release!

joebobhunter4
Re: Fingers or release? wayyyy better accuracy with a release because when u let go with your fingers your bow will move a lil from the movement of your had and u will shoot of compared to a realease all u have to do i rest ur finger and on eithe or slowly pull or squeeze your shoulder blades together with no movement... Canuck2
Re: Fingers or release? Mick, nice bow you have there. Are you near the upper end of available poundages and do you hunt with it? Being a very short bow (even with correspondingly short draw length), you will be getting more 'finger pinch' when you draw than you would with a longer a-a bow. That's because the angle formed by the string at the nock is tighter. The result is it's much more difficult to let the arrow go in a consistent manner. Using a release means there is only a small contact area and you're not introducing variable drag from your fingers; hence a more accurate way of shooting. I like shooting fingers and that's how I shot for several years at first. In fact, I still shoot a recurve quite often, although I'm not very good at it. The accuracy of a release aid is really enjoyable.
