drkillemquick
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread I never thought I would ever ever say this, but man Ottawa looks good. Murray is doing a great job as the new bench boss. I think if you could trade your extra point kicker,(havlat) for a bag of used pucks, you would have a VERY good locker room as well. The only team that could stop Ottawa from winning the cup will be Ottawa.(and the leafs of course LOL )
VermontHunter
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread OK here we go again,,,, we have Florida tonite lets see if they can turn things around abit.... Brian Leetch will be out for atleast a month with a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee... Andrew Raycroft is atleast one more week out of the line up.... but is listed day to day. Alex Zhamnov is still skating with the team. He keeps working hard and wants to be back in the lineup as soon as possible but said he will not return until he is 100 percent. Zhamnov is listed as day-to-day. Brad Isbister , who re-injured his groin in Tuesday night’s game with the Islanders, skated today but will not play tonight. He is listed as day-to-day. And the RUMOUR BUZZ is that the Bruins may resign Byron Dafoe in the very near future... And just for our beloved TSBH here's the real good stuff..... Bourque named Coaching Consultant The Boston Bruins have named Ray Bourque as a consultant to the coaching staff, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. Bourque will join the team in practice on Friday, November 4th at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, MA at 11:00 a.m. Bourque, 44, is one of the greatest players in Bruins and NHL history. He was drafted by Boston as their first pick, eighth overall, in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. In 1,518 career games with the Bruins, Bourque amassed 395 goals and 1,111 assists for 1,506 points in addition to 1,089 penalty minutes. Boston, MA - The Boston Bruins have named Ray Bourque as a consultant to the coaching staff, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. Bourque will join the team in practice on Friday, November 4th at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, MA at 11:00 a.m. He will be available to talk to the media tonight during the second intermission in the press box. "Ray was a great player and a great Bruin and coach Mike Sullivan feels that he can add a lot to his staff," said O'Connell. "This was first brought up with Ray a couple of years ago right after he retired but Ray did not feel then that the time was right. Mike [sullivan] and Ray have talked since that time and it is something they both feel will benefit our team. Ray will work with the team in practice in Boston two to four times a week and Mike Sullivan will decide how his role will evolve." "Ray and I will talk about specifics as we go, but we certainly feel he can help us," said Sullivan. "He'll work with special teams and our defense. His presence can only bring positives to our team." Bourque, 44, is one of the greatest players in Bruins and NHL history. He was drafted by Boston as their first pick, eighth overall, in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He played 21 seasons in a Boston uniform, winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 1979-80; the Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman on five occasions, in 1986-87, 1987-88, 1989-90, 1990-91 and 1993-94; 12 First Team NHL All-Star berths and six Second Team NHL All-Star selections. Bourque remains the Bruins' all-time leader in games played, assists and points. In 1,518 career games with the Bruins, he amassed 395 goals (fourth on the Bruins all-time list), and 1,111 assists for 1,506 points in addition to 1,089 penalty minutes (also fourth all-time in team history). He left Boston in March, 2000 in a multi-player trade to Colorado and he retired as a player after winning a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2001. He is the highest-scoring defenseman in league history, ninth overall on the NHL's all-time scoring list, with career NHL totals of 410 goals and 1169 assists for 1579 points with 1141 penalty minutes in 1,612 career regular season games. He added 41-139=180 totals with 171 PIM in 214 career NHL playoff games. Bourque was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004. Here we go again Mike..... VermontHunter
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread Murray has always been a very accomplished hockey player, and he really shines when he has great support around the puck... This type of stuff is what's making Ottawa so great this season.... Great players with alot of puck support in the offensive and defensive end, when you can play great at both ends of the ice you are bound to have great things happen... Shaun_300
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread The Sens sure are on fire this year... I think the new coach has helped a lot. I really liked Jaques Martin, he was a class guy, but the team couldn't do anything in the playoffs... It'll be interesting to see them this year in the playoffs, I think they'll go pretty far, if not all the way!
Muff
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread OK here is where I will start a fight!!!!! imo the sens whole problem the last few years was JAQUES MARTIN....this guy was not a good coach...just look what spezza is doing this year...yet he would not let him play calling him "just a BOY"...also benching guys like Fisher after he gets into a fight....these are just a few things I hated about this guy...oh yeah and the not matching lines thing in the play offs....the whole reason you want home ice is to get the match up you want ...but not this guy...he would ratter lose to toronto every year than to go on and win the cup...I AM SO GLAD HE IS GONE!!!!!...... sorry about my little rant but as you can see I never like Martins coaching style. Shaun_300
Re: Official Boston Bruins thread I agree with ya Muff, Martin didn't really know how to coach too well. I was just saying that he was a friendly man, didn't mind talking to the media and so on, but thats not what the game is about, Ottawa was in need of a new coach very badly, and the new coach seems to have made a BIG difference on how the Ottawa Senators play. With Martin, it seemed like there was a lot of great hockey players on the team, but Martin wasn't playing them properly. He had no clue who to put on the lines. Bryan Murray has seemed to have got the lines down perfect. Every line that he has seems to get the job done!
