Shawn
Any of you guys have this bow? and if so what do you think of it. My father is finally letting go of his golden eagle and going with this bad boy. What your guys' input?

Guest bcase04
Re: hoyt trykon? I have owned a Trykon for about a month and a half now. Very nice and stable. What I like most about the bow is when I shoot, the bow does not move. I don't have to grab it to keep it from falling. It's solid as a rock. Not very impressed with the Fuse string that comes on it. I have had a terrible time with peep rotation. Worse than any bow I have ever owned. Very nice bow though. Worth the money.

I haven't shot mine enough to notice peep sight rotation problems (just bought it Saturday), but everything regarding the feel/sound of the bow, I love. PAbowhunter4life
Re: hoyt trykon? In my opinion, and I am not alone on this, there's a lot better out there for the money. It's too noisy and there's a good amount of hand shock and vibration. On top of that, it's not a smooth drawing bow at all, the draw cycle is very rough. It is a pretty quick bow though, so if all he's worried about is speed then that's fine, but if he is actually looking for something that'll be comfortable to draw in a tree stand, I'd look towards a Mathews or a Bowtech. Washi
Re: hoyt trykon? I would probably own a Trykon right now if it had just a bit shorter axle to axle length. I really liked how it shot and the grip felt real nice. Some people complain about the draw not being smooth enough on the 80% let-off cams. I only shot the bow for a few dozen shots before I had gotten used to it.

Ohiobucks
Re: hoyt trykon? Very impressed with mine. I did replace the fuse string silencer with some cat whiskers, that is it. Very smooth, fast and quiet. A+ so far, nicest bow I have ever owned. I would not hesitate to recommend this bow to a friend or a stranger. PAbowhunter4life
Re: hoyt trykon? For the record, here are a couple responses from people another forum to a guy who was debating between the Trykon and a Switchback..................... My good friend just shot all 3 models...trykon, tribute and xt...he bought the xt...stating that the xt was just SMOOTH. the other 2 models had more noticeable bow jump. Dave t was just in Feb/Mar when I began buying a bow. I looked at Trykon and Switchback. I did look at others and then narrowed it down to those two. I chose the Switchback...and the reason: Smoothness...when I am 20 foot up a tree or sometimes on ground I want to be as stealthy as I can. I didn't think I could do that with the Hoyt. yes, the Hoyt is Faster..but speed I think is over-rated...remember back when 220 was smoking???? nobody knew the difference then.. Anyway, I am a hunter and I thought the Switchback suited my hunting needs better. Here's a couple responses from actual Trykon shooters.......... I thought the same thing when I was purchasing a new bow in Dec. From advice on here I got the Trykon XL. I couldn't be happier. Got used to the draw quickly. At 80% it rolls over hard but it has such a solid wall on it. Trykon. Once you get used to the draw cycle you will appreciate its quietness and zero hand shock I like Hoyts better myself and I went with the Trykon XL,I don't mind the aggressive draw at all In my opinion when people who actually own the bow are saying the draw cycle is rough and takes some getting use to, that is definitely not a bow I am interested in. I'm pleased with mine. The draw cycle is absolutely a non issue with me. It will not affect me at all in a treestand this year. Buy the bow that makes you happy. Disregard manufacturer. Guest wildotter
Re: hoyt trykon? I won't argue that the draw cycle takes a little getting use to. However, the difference in the draw cycle between the first Trykon I shot (draw weight maxed out) and the second one I shot (set on 60#) was definitely noticable. There is NOT a perfect bow out there, be it Hoyt, Mathews, BowTech, PSE, etc...the key is to decide what aspects of a bow is more important to YOU (smooth draw, speed, noise, vibration, balance, etc.)! You will be the one shooting the bow, not me or anyone else in this forum. All I can do is give you my opinion of the bow I just purchased...sure I would hate to think I just dropped $700+ on a bow when I could have gotten a better one for the same price or even less money. But don't worry, I'm NOT trying to justify my purchase...that was done before I handed them my money. I shot the switchback and decided I didn't like the weight distribution...yes it was very smooth, but I didn't want to have to mess with trying to balance a bow that I thought should have been balanced "out of the box". Just like getting use to the draw cycle of the Hoyt, I would have had to get used to, or fix the balancing of the switchback. Just my opinion, but that's why we're all here. As far as the Bowtech, it was very fast, and a pretty smooth bow, but something just didn't feel right...not sure what...so don't ask me to explain it...some times you just have to go with your instincts. I also shot a Reflex thinking maybe I could get a "cheaper Hoyt" that shot just as good. Very nice bow...can't really say anything bad about it, but it just didn't feel as good as the Trykon. Which brings me back to the draw cycle. I will be hunting at 60-65 lbs., and at that draw weight I hardly notice the hard let off anymore. I went into this purchase totally unbiased, hoping to get the best bow for ME for the best value. I believe I did, but for someone else, the Switchback, BowTech, or Reflex could have accomplished the same thing. You have to go with your instincts when trying bows out, shooting different ones, and one will stand out...go back over and over and shoot the same bows several different times/days, because you may notice different things at different times that you like/dislike about each one. If you've done that and you're happy with your decision and you get a quality bow, that's all that matters. So, if your dad is happy great...cause he got a great bow in my opinion! The classifieds on archerytalk had the brand new Mathews Apex 7 for sale before a majority of archery shops even had them. I think the Mathews guys are just a little jealous that Hoyt took the parralel limb design and made a bow that has some actual speed. Give the Trykon a chance. It is by no means a dissappointment. By far a nice shooting bow that (unlike others will say) has no hand shock and can be set for 3 diffrent draw points to help with the draw cycle. PAbowhunter4life
Re: hoyt trykon? No, I won't take that wager because since the Switchback is an OLD bow, all the Mathews loyal are selling them so they can buy this years best bow, the Switchback XT. All I see is people unloading Trykons and buying old Hoyts or wanting to trade for older Hoyts. Now since you brought up the subject of parallel limbs, isn't it funny how year after year Hoyt failed to produce a parallel limb design because, and this is quotes directing from their Technicians "There is no significant advantage to parallel limbs". Yet now magically this year they come out with a parallel limb bow????? As for a parallel limb bow finally producing some speed, Bowtech has been doing that for the past 2 years now. Isn't it a shame it took such a "great" company like Hoyt such a long time to catch up? But hey, they redesigned that TEC riser a little bit, so she's worth every penny

Great bow [/ QUOTE ] LMAO.................... with all due respect, if your Trykon is faster than your LX was, then you need to tune your bows better. The Trykon is rated at 314 fps, the Trykon XL is rated at 316 fps............ The LX you ask???? 318 fps.............. and yes, it will do every bit of that. Man, Hoyt's are so good now they can defy the laws of physics lol
