Only one hospital in Tulsa (which is a pretty large city) has power. The rest are running on emergency power. The last count for Oklahoma and Kansas was over 400k homes and businesses. Remember the murderous blizzard back in 1888 that killed hundreds of people including children. I read a great book about the reconstruction era and I remember reading that part about the blizzard and ice storm. It sounds like the Mid-West can be nice one day and killing people the next. You are correct. They are saying that there are now over 250k in Tulsa alone. I went to work again this morning (knowing I would have to turn back around). Most of the stop lights in Tulsa are dead. Very, very few places are open and I didnt see a single Walmart open in Tulsa out of dozens. Only a few stations fired up generators to get gas pumped out. It is officially the largest outage in Oklahoma history. That being said, down south, this weekend there is a 50% chance of precipitation with night time lows in the 20's.
