hutchies Posted February 24, 2010 Report Share Posted February 24, 2010 Everyone gave me money for my birthday yesterday so I decided to get me a new set of air tools.Well I've got a 1/2 impact 3/8 impact 3/8 ratchet Deep and Shallow sockets Air Hammer Die Grinder Tile saw :jaw:........They are having a sale and today is the last day. Well I'm $5 over my $300 birthday money now and still see stuff I like. I did however end up buying a tile saw because we are going to redo the tile in the bathroom soon. Guess I can tell my wife she has to buy me another present since that one is for the house............ :pop:Figured I would have some money left but it looks like that was a dream. Newarcher Posted February 25, 2010 Report Share Posted February 25, 2010 Dude, I just did an entire bathroom and I hope you heed my advice. Take the tile saw back.....they are messy and time consuming. When I ran out of steam and had to hire out the shower, the guys brought in this tool that looked like an office paper cutter. Instead of using water and dealing with all of that, it just ran what looked almost like a mini pizza cutter across the tile. It scored the tile and they gave it a quick tap. Voila....a perfectly straight cut I couldnt' get with the tile saw in maybe 5 seconds. The same cut took me several minutes including cutting time, cleaning time, walking in/out of the house, etc. I don't know what it is called but it WORKS. Steve's Wholesale tool and Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight is actually my favorite. I bought a 3000lb winch for my Quad for $80. I now have a Coupon to buy one for $50 and am thinking about picking it up Just In Case. In fact they have coupons at the back of the American Hunter Magazine for this month. Luckily if you lay it out right you only have to cut 2 walls and the recesses and stuff for the doors. Yep, that's exactly what I did. My bathroom was funny shaped so I dry fitted everything and then set all the full tiles where they went. Then I had to do the cutting which I am a stickler for. I have seen pro jobs where they just cut 1/4 " away from baseboards and grouted the joint (looked bad). I undercut all the trim and doorjambs and then cut the tile to fit completely underneath it. I used a wet tile saw so I had to measure and mark, walk through the house, into the garage, cut it, fit it, sometimes recut it, and then ultimately get it in place. Had I had the tile cutter like the shower guys did, I could have done it all in a fraction of the time. Good luck with your job. New Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
