Re: The \"S\" Word First off, let me say that you guys be careful. We have young folks coming in here and it is not our job to determine when they find out about these things. I will say that my oldest and I had a very long talk on the way back from a hunting trip last year (he was 9 at the time). He has friends who are older and I felt that he needed to get the straight story from me. You guys need to make sure that the ones in hear reading get the same from their parents and not a message board. S

Re: ATTN: RT Hunting on ranches A very good post and well justified. It is true that our staff has the opportunity to hunt at some of the best areas in North America every year. Because of the nature of our business, we are afforded the opportunity to hunt in some awesome locations throughout North America. They are not farms but well managed ranches, farms or property (with free ranging animals). There are many reasons why we don't hunt public land (unless we draw a tag out west (which we do from time to time). First and foremost is liability, which is far too complicated to explain in this forum but, has been explained to us in complete detail by our attorneys. Secondly, due to the overwhelming response to the hunts we have captured on tape and the size and rarity of the bucks we do take, our TV Show and Video's ongoing reputation and survival rely heavily on these hunts. As far as the odds are concerned, our staff begins big game hunting in late August and continues through the end of January for an average of 20 weeks on the road (They are home literally two or three weeks during this period which is a great sacrifice when you consider family and other responsibilities). Of the 140 days in the field, roughly 75% of these are spent scouting and setting up stands. It is true that at some locations guides are an important part of this, but the staff is adamant about working extremely hard in the field and finding the biggest and best bucks available in that area. A large percentage of the deer are taken with bows which adds to the difficulty. It is also noteworthy to point out that Bill hunted 5 to 6 days a week last year from the end of August until the middle of January and took only three bucks. Put yourself in the woods that much and you would probably match those results. We film hundreds of hunts each year over a 9 month period (Including Turkey Season), with the number of successful hunts numbering 50 or less. When you look at these odds, they are not much better than an average hunting club (if they were to hunt as often). It takes this much time and footage to produce 13 TV Shows, 2 Monster Bucks, All Stars Of Spring and additional titles every year. Products extremely important to our company and it's success. We hope these points help explain our position. We are in no way trying to deny our fortunes in being able to hunt where we do. We just want you to see that it's not as simple as the edited TV shows or videos seem to make it. We welcome your feedback and sincerely appreciate your time spent at our site. S

Re: New Realtree Online Store I didn't even know they had these placed in there: http://www.realtree.com/products/store-detail.tpl?c=Clearance&p=AA716 For 9 bucks, these are a steal. Great for wearing under your outer clothing. And that TR logo on your neck will look good in the trophy pics. Seriously. These are heavy duty cotton, long sleeve, mock turtle necks and there was not a lot made and I don't even think they were ever available to the public. I might have to run up and get me a couple more before they are gone!

Re: New Realtree Online Store These are your deals guys. We are trying to clear room for a whole new 2005 inventory and these won't last long. Dirt cheap. http://www.realtree.com/products/store-category.tpl?c=Clearance I know I sound like a car salesman here, but I pushed to get these overstocks online and sell them cheap! S

More product, much cheaper prices, clearance items, etc. And it will expand even more in January. http://www.realtree.com/products/store.tpl

Re: moderators They help keep these forums straight. They are here to help, take out troublemakers, keep the forums clean for folks of all ages, etc. That's about the best desciption I can give. Most have been onboard for years now. Occasionally we add one when we see a need. Unfortunately, there is low turnover and we do have a long list of folks who want to be one. There are many who probably deserve to be one, but we only have so many slots. All I can say is put your name on the list and maybe one day we can fit you in. S

Re: BIG PA BUCK! Pics posted in Deer Hunting room.
-
This is the buck that Michael saw earlier in the week while in PA. I have no info yet because Michael is gone again. Hopefully I will get that soon. No fence. Private land. Rough score 211. Shot with a crossbow at about 15 yards running right at him chasing a doe (notice the entrance wound). As far as the use of the crossbow I don't know. Michael said he had talked to a DNR officer and this is a legit, legal kill. S

Re: BIG PA BUCK! And I have trail cam pics of it in velvet. S Another thing about the restrictions put on PA bucks 3 years ago. We have gotten so many reports of BIG BUCKS taken this year. I think it is paying off guys. Wish they would do it everywhere.

Re: BIG PA BUCK! That is not the one Michael brought me a pic of this afternoon. The one I saw was bigger and a non-typical. Will post tomorrow. S

Re: BIG PA BUCK! It was probably shot sometime over the last three days. I can't be certain what day Michael went up there.

Got a call from Micael Waddell tonight. He was in PA for a photo shoot. Up drives a young guy (18-20 years old), with a buck he shot (With a crossbow) on a small 10 acre tract that an old man let him hunt. Turns out, Michael did a rough score for him and it came out to a score of 211 points! Michael said it was the biggest deer he has ever laid his hands on (that says a lot). Anyway, Michael is bringing pics home and we are going to run the story here on the site. Stay tuned. And yes, I guess we will see how good Michael scores deer. S
