Re: A Realtree.com Proposition Man! That is a pretty good start! 22 rooms! Hey, if we fill those and folks bring campers, we start looking like a hunting "Woodstock." This is what we want to happen. Just some ideas thrown around. I really think this could be a great time. Enough folks, we might even organize an archery tournament! S

Over the past two years some of us guys have made an attempt to get together and hunt or at least just meet and greet. Some folks have had to really travel a long way. It has laways been my goal to find a central location in the U.S. where everybody would have a chance to do this. Now, I figured we cut a lot of the expense and do it after the hunting season. This would just be a 3-4 day weekend of cooking out and fellowship. The following is something I posted in the Mod room to see if there was any takers. We are talking about next year so there is plenty of time to plan: "It would be great to do it right in the middle of the country. Start talking it up. Make sure that it is far enough out so that no one has a God awful long trip and everyone had a chance to make it. I have no idea what a good central location would be? Are we talking Kansas? Nebraska? Or because of the forum population base, do we cheat to the right (East) and meet up in MO, IA or IL? Let's start talking and maybe plan something. I suggest it be after the hunting season next year so we don't screw up the reason why we all meet up here in the forums. If we get enough folks and make this a big deal I will try to hog tie Michael Waddell and bring him along. I think it would be fun. The best place to do these are in state parks where you have rooms or lodges. We can cook out, maybe do a little fishing and just hang out in a "outdoorsman like" surrounding. I will leave this one up to you guys. If you want to pursue this I will need to look into when all of our trade shows are next year and look at planning it after those (and before spring turkey season). If it grows into something big, I will create a separate forum for it." S Post what you think.

About the earlier post about the trespasser on his land. It was actually the other way around. The poacher pointed the gun at Jeff's land manager Glenn Garner and Glenn shot at him. Can't think of a better advertisement for not coming on that land. Actually, many of you will remember Glenn as a former employee and cameraman for us. He filmed the turkey hunt that David B. took me and my then 6 year old son on for All-Stars of Spring IX. Here is the story link: http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/mld/ledgerenquirer/news/7656824.htm And here is the copy in case they pull the story: Poacher spied on comic's land Foxworthy offering $2,000 reward to catch intruder BY HARRY FRANKLIN State Editor Comedian Jeff Foxworthy bought 2,000 acres in Harris County last year for family recreational use and still doesn't have a place where he can feel his family is completely safe. Law enforcement officers for the Wildlife Resources Division, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, are investigating a Dec. 28 incident in which an armed poacher was spotted by Foxworthy while he was up in a tree stand hunting deer, between 5-5:30 p.m. Foxworthy's property caretaker, Glenn Garner, shot at the intruder after the man reportedly raised his rifle after being confronted, said Sgt. Randy Hackley, law enforcement officer for the division. Hackley said the man escaped and there is no indication the trespasser was shot. "Jeff Foxworthy was hunting and witnessed the poacher on the property," Hackley said Wednesday. "He was hiding in a ditch in some bushes." After Garner ordered the man out of the bushes, the poacher came up with a rifle. Garner, armed with a .17-caliber rifle, told the man to put down his gun but the poacher raised the rifle to a shoulder position, Hackley said. "Glenn fired a shot and then got behind his vehicle. He looked back and saw the poacher with his gun pointed at him. Glenn waited behind the vehicle until he felt it was safe before leaving." Garner said Wednesday that Foxworthy is offering a $2,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved. "If we catch them, we are going to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law," said Garner, who said he had the small-caliber rifle in his vehicle and was not hunting at the time. Hackley said it is "a shame you can't feel safe on your own property. Jeff's family was there, but they were not out hunting. The first concern for Jeff was to get his family off the place." Garner said they are looking into installing surveillance equipment on the property that is triggered by movement and will capture the image of anyone who passes by. Hackley noted that poaching has been going on in the region for years and that reports are common. He said the poacher may have walked for an hour into the property to reach the place where he was spotted, because it was in the middle of the tract, which runs north-south between Georgia Highway 116 and Hopewell Church Road. The tract also is not far from Interstate 185.

Re: SITE HUNT-TR and admin. Guys, I apologize. A contest like this is bound to have problems when you have so many obstacles to go through. We will continue to work on these. S

Re: SITE HUNT-TR and admin. I'm not sure what the problem is here? We had no other complaints about the site hunt this past month. Are you saying that you went to pages that you knew the icons were on and they did not show up? Did you try emptying your cache? S

Re: question to moderator I will help ease your efforts right now and tell you that Bill doesn't own a blade of grass in Bama. We have had leases there in the past for turkey, but even those are gone. S

Re: Hey TR Admin what are the odds-site hunt I get an automated email from the server giving me the winners and one alternate. For some reason it pitched me one a little sooner this month. S

Re: Hey TR Admin what are the odds-site hunt 411 folks registered this past month and since I have already seen the list I can tell you that there is at least one regular here in the forums that won something. There may be others, I just didn't recognize the names right off. To be honest, if you are not a Mod, I have troubles recognizing folk's real names. S

Re: Giveaway Question Actually the muzzleloader was given away on Friday of last week (Congratulations goes out to Darrell Robertson of Virginia). The bow is a new giveaway and is separate from the site hunt bow. S

Re: Kinda looks like About 15 years ago, I was sitting on stand. The folks next to us ran dogs about twice a year and it never failed. The dogs would run along a creek and through a corner of our lease that held a large beaver pond. This particular morning, they ran a small six point across that corner about 75 yards from my location. I kid you not, that six point ran into about two feet of water, stopped, sniffed around, and splash! laid right down on his side in it. The only thing visible was his snout and one side of his rack? The dogs ran along the edge about 50 yards on the other side. After they were gone (about 30 minutes), he got up, shook like a dog, and walked quietly right back in the direction he came from. And you wonder how they get so big. Those bucks are smart! S [ 02-22-2003, 07:42 PM: Message edited by: Team Realtree ]

Re: new medicines and how they are used? It's Dr. James Andrews in B'ham and he and the others in that group are the best in the business. Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, and most other Pro athletes have relied on him to get them going. If you are going to have to travel, you might consider heading down there. TR

In Alabama, a store owner cannot display a sign or ad that has the word "Beer." Next time you are in the state, take a look around. You will see a lot of "Cold Beverages" signs. Just one of those laws that have stuck for quite some time down in the Bible Belt. TR

Re: Digital cameras All we use here in the office and on the road is NIKON. They seem to have the digital figured out. I bought 3 NIKON 950's 3 years ago for the guys to take on the road and have yet to have one fail. In the Canadian cold and Florida heat, they keep on ticking. 75% of the Online Journal pics were taken with those cameras. Funny thing, when I bought them, they were 1k each. 6 months later they were $600. Now you can get a good NIKON digital for $400 or less. Remember, you will get what you paid for. TR
