    Mathews Q2XL

Re: Mathews Q2XL Matt i think that would be a good setup for indoor /3D . 38 inches is ok for ATA and the brace height would be ok also.. but you know its not the bow its the shooter behind the bow ... why is your wall ont he Xtec not as hard.. did you remove that little rubber bumper on the bottom cam ? thats makes huge differance in how the wall feels...you might try it.... all my Hoyts have it removed and they feel just great....
  5. Re: Easton Axis Carbon 400\'s Former arrows are ACC's which bend easily and just didn't hold up. ........................................................................... of course Accs wouldnt hold up if you hit something with them.. they have an aluminum core.. hence the name ACC...aluminum /carbon composite ... they are however far superior to the axis arrows , just dont miss with them...
  6. Re: Im done with the Axis yep they were way over hyped.. i saw it coming.. i mean when you see an arrow that is only .005 straightness tolerance and they are just as expensive as Goldtip 5575 XT 22 series pros .. but the Goldtips are .001 straightness it wasnt to hard for me to decide not to try the axis arrows.. i shoot Easton 2613s for indoor target , Easton 3-28 Accs for field and some 3D and Goldtips for hunting... i really like the Eastons i shoot but , now that Goldtip has contingency money for even the ametuer class of competition im going to switch completely to Goldtips for everything starting this spring for 3D.... sorry Easton but you guys need to wake up...
  7. Re: Kansas City Pro-Am Shootout Jan 22/23 sorry Dan thers no way i can go now.. i just found out i have to work saturday.. thanks for the offer it would have been a lot of fun...lets us know how it goes ... im planning to be at the Midwest Sectionals and i just might shoot the Nationals this year...maybe i will see you there...
  8. Re: Attn: Tony (last night stand pics) ah heck you can tell its not an Iowa buck hes to small.. i would pass on that poor thing.. by the way the buck in the pic is exactly 26 yds and hes on a mowed path the landowner made for me... i did make a mistake at this stand and watched a 140 + buck walk by at just about the same spot as the buck in the pic.. problem is that i ddint realize he was a shooter until he was already past me...
  9. Re: last night stand pics i live about 25 miles southwest of Des Moines.. maybe we can get all us Iowans together and shoot a 3D or 2 this summer...
  10. Re: Bowhunter class this weekend hey thats good shooting in the bowhunter class Dan.. but as we know good in practice and leagues is one thing , good at tournys is another .. i still havent made up my mind yet if im going to the KC Pro/Am or not..it should be a fun shoot ....i will let you all know if im going probably by thursday evening....

    Iowa Pro/Am

Re: Iowa Pro/Am well im back and i didnt shoot very well.. i shot a 300-45 X ( 345 ) the first day and 305 the second day..total score was 650 and should place me somewhere in the middle of the pack .. i was just trying to hard and missed a ton of Xs by just an 1/8 of an inch or so.. so sundays shoot was just for fun and i had a nice time with the guys i shot with... i shot when i got home and im back to pounding Xs again.. someday im going to be able to put it together ...
  12. Re: Competitive Archery League Scores i just got back from the Iowa Pro/Am and i shot my score tonight.. i shot really well but i didnt shoot good at the tourny... which is normal for me... so my league score for this week is 297....
  13. just thought i would post a couple of pics from my stand on jan 10th...i wish it was like this all the time...i thought some of you would like to see what Iowa in the winter looks like.. this is the north view. [image] [/image] this is the east view. [image]http:// [/image]
  14. well im off to the Iowa Pro/Am tomorrow after work.. im shooting saturday at 11:00 which is a 5 spot 360 round.. on sunday we will be shooting the Vegas 3 spot 330 round....it should be a lot of fun and there will be many very good shooters there . this will be my 5th Iowa Pro/Am , but my first year shooting Freestyle Trophy class..... is anyone else going ?
  15. Re: Fletching if your going to shoot indoor then dont mess with the Easton Fatboys . you can buy easton 2613s or any other size aluminum for a lot cheaper than the fatboys and they will be a heck of a lot straighter.. example... Fatboys straightness tolerance ....005 Easton X7 Eclipse 2613s.....tolerance .001 and they are only 60 bucks a dozen . any aluminum would be ok something in the 2413 , 2512 or 2613 are the most popular around here.... currently i shoot 2613s with 5 inch gateway red treebark feathers for indoor . for hunting i shoot Goldtip 22 series pros with 4 inch straight fletch... for 3 D i shoot easton 3-28 Accs with 1.5 inch diamond vanes.. or the Goldtip 22 series with 4 inch fletch... it just depends on what class i want to shoot. for field archery i shoot the 3-28 Accs and the 1.5 inch vanes..
  16. Re: Competion Shoots? the KC Pro/Am is next weekend ..... also go to a website called 3Dshoots.com .. if there is a shoot registered on that site it will tell you.. they not only list 3D shoots in your area but any shoots in your area...indoor target or field archery as well... you might try your local archery shop.. they probably have a listing of either leagues or local events... another good site for indoor shoots is www.NFAA-Archery.org... hope to see you on the shooting line sometime...
  17. Re: Shooting form pics yea i have gained a few pounds.. but us indoor shooters need a counter balance to shoot with im going to try to burn some of this off this spring.. i dont drink pop or beer so i guess its from chips and chicken wings on sundays ?
  18. Re: Competitive Archery League Scores Ryan is that your weekly ammoman target score or just your 3d score you shot ?

    It's 2005

Re: It\'s 2005 im on it man thanks for reminding me...
  20. Re: Shooting form pics no way am i cutting that arrow Matt.. its absolutely perfect for indoor .. many shooters shoot full length shafts for indoor.. mostly because we are shooting less poundage and by leaving the arrows longer it breaks the spine down some .. im only shooting 60 lbs but im shooting 2613s..with 200 gr points and that length of shaft makes that arrow fly perfect for me at 20 yds... back at ya
  21. Re: Kansas City Pro-Am Shootout Jan 22/23 still thinking about it Dan...im shooting the Iowa ProAm this weekend . it should be a good tune up for the KC ProAm.... i will make a decision by thursday for sure....
  22. ok by request i have some pics of my shooting form.. do you have any pointers for me ? [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image]

    NEEDS INFO

Re: NEEDS INFO there are more classes than you can shake a stick at for 3D...but the most common are Bowhunter and Freestyle... bowhunter is fixed pins and freestlye is moveable sight.. whatever gear your using now should be good as long as you can shoot well with it..the most important thing about 3d is estimating range .. you should get out and do a lot of range estimation to get used odd ranges.. a laser rangefinder is a great piece of equipment to have for this...that way you make your estimate and then use the range finder to see how far you are off.. other gear for 3D that is essential is a good pair of binoculars..IBO has a max power of 8X while ASA allows any power .. check out the IBO and ASA websites for amore info.. as it gets closer to spring and 3D season we will have a lot of info posted here on this subject.. right now everyone is shooting spot target ...
  24. Re: Competitive Archery League Scores i shot a pair of 149s...298...i shot very well but im still getting used to the new Zenith release...

    Nationals

Re: Nationals i have shot in many big tournys some of them were with martin...3 NFAA Indoor Nationals , 5 Iowa Pro/Ams , 2 MidWest sectionals , Iowa games and 3 State indoor tournys and 1 ASA 3D shoot. by tough do you mean tough competition or the nerves and anxiety that comes with shooting big tournys... as for tough yes you will be competing against the best in your class in the country.. this is super chance for you to compair your shooting to the best in the country and it also allows you to see the best shoot... this can play big dividends because it exposes you to many differnt types of shooters and maybe help if you need it.. the pros are there for you ..ask questions of them they can be a huge source of info... but by tough do you mean nervous and anxiety of shooting in your first big tourny yes its tough.. the best thing you can do is tell yourself to forget about the shoot and just relax..dont worry about your score just try to make the best shot you can on each shot and once the arrow is gone forget about it and go on with the next.. the best i did was at the 2002 NFAA Indoor Nationals . i was competing for my second year in Adult Male BowHunter Freestyle and i realized that there was no way i was going to win .. lets face it if your shooting 300 50 X and the best are shooting 300 59Xs then your pretty much out of it.. oh sure you could get lucky but i just became a realist.. what this did was allow me to enjoy the experience and shoot very relaxed.. i ended up shooting 300 50X and 300 52X and i tied for 11th place out of 109 shooters in my division.. i was so happy that i shot my advergae and slightly above... now that i have shot in a bunch of tournys i still get the adrenaline pump from shooting the big ones but the nerves have calmed down a bunch... just relax and shoot your best shot and have fun . enjoy the experience and watch the big boys shoot they are like machines...
