Re: How do you get up the tree? i use the screw in tree steps. i always ask the landowner if its ok to use them and i always take them out after the season . they can be a pain to put in but i made a spike punch to make a small hole to help them get started in. once in the tree these are the most secure steps of all , provided that you make sure that they are in the tree and not just the bark or in dead wood. good hunting Tony

Re: Hearing things? i have heard this and seen this many times. YB14 said it best you should have went over and checked to see if there was a fresh rub somewhere close by. the sound on a quiet morning can carry for a ways but i would guess that he was close. surely ou heard him walk away after the rubbing sound ended . if you didnt hear him walk away or there arent any fresh rubs around then who knows what it was ? maybe it was a raccoon wiping his butt on some tree bark. if you find some raccoon poop on a tree close by dont touch it , it will make good cover scent ! hahaha LOL. Re: Are you dealing with alot of heat? it was nice and cool here for the last week but sunday and today its hot ( 80s) . its supposed to cool off towards the weekend and theres a chance of rain all week too. doesnt matter to me im going tomorrow for the first day no matter what. good hunting Tony

Re: What would you do? sorry i have to pass the shot ! you tag is only good for your property . if you want to cure this problem then buy another tag. i have had this same thing happen but i had a legal tag but i couldnt hunt the other side of the fence. i passed on lots of deer because they wouldnt come on my side. after many frustrating evenings in the stand. i went to the other land owner and explained what was happening. he said i had permission to shoot from my stand with bow at any deer on his property , but i wasnt allowed to put a stand on his property . the next week i scored on my first buck with horns with bow. this was my solution to the prob. there are always ways to solve probs sometimes we look to hard for answers . either pass on the deer or buy a tag . good hunting Tony

i sure dont know of one. i have searched all over to find one. i can find his books and articles he has written but no website. i met him at the first iowa deer classic and he was very nice . good hunting Tony

Re: should I try? i dont know its a very touchy subject. if you confront them and they dont like it they will go out of there way to shoot whatever they want. if you leave them alone they are probably going to do the same thing. so what the heck talk to them see if they are willing to lets some small bucks pass. let them know you are going to do the same and in a few years you hope to have bigger bucks. try to get them to shoot does if possible instead of small bucks. good luck im sure your going to need it and a major dose of patience. good hunting Tony

Re: May be bow hunting this season i agree with Horst . since you can draw and make a few shots now , you should be good to go for bow season. remember its not how many arrows you shoot but if you are making good shots. i would rather you shoot 3 good shots than 10 shots with 7 of them bad. take it easy , dont over do it and you will be in a stand this year. good hunting Tony
