Re: Post your 2004 scores here. Bill you only shot 20 down and its only your 3rd time out ! Hmm i guess them ASA boys are lucky you didnt go to the Pro/Am ... good shooting.. i shot at the SW Iowa Bowhunters on sunday . i shot very well . i had 1 5 on the first target . a standing bear that always gives me fits. problem was i thought it was 41 yds , but it was only 36 . after that i got on a good swing and ended up with 377 out of 400 ... its my best score yet and this place has many downhill shots out to 47 yds. i had 9 eights , 1 five and thirty 10s. best shot had to be at a 36 yd axis deer. it had so many leaves around it i could barely see the target . it was a bad side hill and bad footing shot also. but it had a small hole to shoot through . Whappp !!!!deadcenter 10 dont know of my place but i have a feeling its going to be a tough score to beat.

Re: Post your 2004 scores here. well i shot at the Hickory Ridge Bowhunters today. they were putting on the 3rd leg of the Heartland Triple Crown at Lake Red Rock near Pella Iowa. i first would like to say that i did not shoot as good as i could have. i shot great for 3 out of 4 rounds but the 2nd course i just could not buy a 10 for nothing. i shot eight 8s out of 10 targets with one 11 and 1 ten . you cant believe how many 10s i missed by just 1/2 inch . YUCK .. i shot a 378 with thirteen 11s ... i had a great time and really turned it on on the second half of the course . shooting nine 11s out of 20 targets . good news is that i finished in 4TH place overall in the Heartland Triple Crown .. yea i missed 3rd by 2 points but i was just hoping to make the top 10 . heres the link if you guys want to check out my scores overall...www.hickoryridge3d.com . then go under 2004 IBO triple crown . check under Hunter Class ( HC ) and look for Tony Keim..yup thats me .... just you wait till next year im going to give those boys a run for there money . i have another shoot this up coming weekend SW Iowa Bowhunters and then sometime in july i plan on shooting Montezuma with Mike again. well i guess im a full fledged 3Der now . i just love this game !

Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA thats a big time tip there Dan . if you really want to compete at a higher level then a coach or shooting mentor is very necessary. someone to help us along or give us a kick in the pants when needed . you are truely blessed to have Mr. Pridgon helping you.

Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA VT i will see if i can provided more info on Pinwheel 5s original tip . its an explanation as to why some of our pins for indoors are differant when we go outside to shoot . some of the guys pins are dead on at 20 and 30 inside but hen they go outside to shoot there pins are off either slightly left or right and sometimes high and low. sometimes because of lighting pins change point of impact . when we move outside to shoot 3-D or field archery we need to sight in our pins outside in typical lighting we expect we will be shooting in. i guess its just the differant veiw of the pins from indoor to outdoor . i also have this happen . i was in the shop last night shooting at 20 and 30 yards and my pins are about 1 inch low . i know they are dead on outside because i use a laser range finder to set up my distances. and i know the distances in the shop are correct because i used the same laser range finder for them. hope this explains this better for you and everyone else.

Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA im going to make this a permanant post so that we can come in here and post any good tip for shooting. whether its indoor target or 3-d or field archery . i think it would help some guys to have a tips post that they can check out anytime , without having to do a search for it.

Re: Post your 2004 scores here. thanks HG. i guess you shouldnt be fooling around with pins . you know you a big dog scope shooter. well i shot the Second leg of the Heartland Triple Crown in St Joseph Missouri on sunday . i shot good and i thought the course was tough. i shot a 386 out of 400 with eleven 11s . i was shooting pretty well just seemed to miss at least 6 10rings by just a 1/2 inch and about the same number of 11s also. i ran into trouble on the 37th target out of 40 . it was a tough uphill shot that i first thought was 30 yds. i then talked myself into 24 yds . so i shot and i got a 5 . it was 30 yds ! dont know where that puts me over all but i hoping for a top 10 . my goal is to finish in the top 10 in the triple crown. they had some really wicked downhill shots that i had never shot before . heck it looked like shooting out of a treestand 30 feet up! had the range on almost every target except one . heres my score breakdown 11s---11 10s---18 8s----10 5s----1 like i said i had the range to almost all of them , i found out what a level is for in 3d for sure. that side hill stuff messed me up a few times. im going to Montezuma next sunday weather permitting to shoot with Realtree member "mdcool"at there clubs course. see you there Mike .

Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA heres a good tip i got this weekend from one of the guys i shot with. he said " trust your level " when making those nasty side hill shots . he said that bubble will never lie to you . so you stand on a slope to the left , the target is also leaning to the left . when you draw your bow the level should be in the center not leaning left . this will allow you to make a good shot.

Re: how good of a shot? nope not yet ! give me time ! but i might be shooting in the IBO World 3D Championship in sept. i qualified for it by placing 5th in the Omaha IBO shoot. sorry but this is fun , you must be confident in your abilities and its cool to see so many good shooters here . sounds like most of you young uns are on your way to be good shooters and hunters . remember perfect practice makes perfect .

Re: how good of a shot? im a pretty fair shot myself. like Tominator i did qualify in the military as Hawkeye once and Expert several times with an M16 . Hawkeye is 40 out of 40 pop up targets with open sights on a M16 out to 400 meters ! for a bow most of you know my competition scores. best so far is 11th at the Indoor Nationals . 600-102 Xs out of 600-120Xs possible under competition pressure. hope to see some of you at the next Realtree meeting. it would be fun to see who can actually walk the walk .

Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA thakns Dan i have read and responded to that post on AT . it seems that many Pros have there own way to get the release to fire . but you and i know that its there mental game that makes them the top shooters. sure rock solid form and range estimation help but that mental game is what makes them able to perform under pressure. sure wish Eric or Nathan could bottle it and sell me some . Re: A tip from the pros at the ASA thanks Pin and Dan keep em coming . i wonder if its the lighting or the differance in aiming indoors that makes the sights differant. i have experienced this also . my 20 is dead on indoors but when i go outside it changes . but i have my sights adjusted for foam animals now. and i will remember that little tip. Re: Why do you hunt? i have thought about this and i guess its a combination of a lot of things. being with my dad at first and showing him i was proficient as a hunter. being in the outdoors where i can realize that life is better at a slower pace. enjoying nature and its wonderfull creatures. the taste of wild game meat. the thirll of chasing a buck for the whole season and taking him . the satisfaction in making a good shot and also the sadness of the kill. honoring the animal i have just taken and thanking the good lord for all his bounty . I hunt because i love it. Shoot Strong Tony

Re: Post your 2004 scores here. well guess what i finished in 5th place for the IBO i shot on saturday . even though it wasnt my best effort it was as good as i could shoot on that day . i am happy that i was tied for the most 11s shot for my class . if you want to check out my score heres the link http://archeryclub.com . then go to scores and 2004 IBO 1st leg heartland triple crown . scan down to IBO-HC and im the 5th one down from the top with a 375 and eleven 11s im a little behind in points but im really going to hit the range estimation hard here for the next 2 weeks. any of you IBO gurus know what i have to do to qualify for the IBO Worlds competition ? Re: Post your 2004 scores here. well i shot my first IBO tourny yesterday in Omaha Neb.i had a great time and me and my buddy shot with a husband and wife from Neb. thanks Chris and Brad we had a lot of fun. the weather was warm but perfect for shooting . which means no rain like normal ! i shot in the hunter class which has a 35 yd max on targets . i thought it would be a good class to start out in. the targets were tough even with a 35 yd max. i know the course i shot had a 30 yd adverage. i sure didint see many under 25 yds. maybe 2 targets out of 40 ! i shot 375 out of 400 with eleven 11s . my first target was a 32 yd wolf and i missed the yardage so bad i shot a 5 . my buddy who doesnt shoot any tournys shot an 11. my other bad shot was a 35 yd baboon that i just missed the range on. i thought he was more like 29. got a nice 5 for that one. i was just low on most of my yardage by about 2 yds most of the day. i dont know how many 10s i missed by a half inch , at least 8 . the course was really open , most of it was like shooting in the back yard , mowed shooting lanes and really open and real flat like the ASA in Metropolis last year . anyways i shot the best i could yesterday we will see where i end up , but i would be happy with a top 15 with that score . from a lot of people i talked to nobody shot really that well . the 2nd leg of the Heartland triple Crown IBO is in St Joseph , Missouri in 2 weeks . i talked to a few guys and they said it is completely differant than the shoot in Omaha more of a traditional 3-D shoot (woods ). i have to get out and do a lot of range estimation practice and just a bunch of shooting. i only had 2 left misses all day everything else was up and down. Re: Post your 2004 scores here. i shot raccoon ridge with a buddy on sunday and i tied for 2nd in unlimited ! not bad for only my 3rd shoot of the year . i shot a 536 out of 560 . a 42 yd caribou just bit me on a 6 and i had a prob with another caribou at about 44 yds for a 6. best shot of the day was a 39 yd side profile raccoon for double points i just missed the 10 ring for an 8 which was then 16 points. had a great time and plan on shooting a lot more building up to the IBO tourny on the 22nd in Omaha Neb. it will be the first leg of the heartland triple crown . i just love this game ! Re: Post your 2004 scores here. i shot well today at the SW iowa Bowhunters course in Afton Iowa. i shot 365 out of 400 . just one 5 and no misses today. this course is really tough. lots of targets at 34 to almost 50 yds . i enjoy shooting a tough course but its a little tense to try to hit a 46+ yd elk with half the 10 ring covered by a tree ! just missed the 10 by an inch. i made lots of good shots just 2 a little right. everything else was up and down. had fun and im really getting the range thing down. everything under 35 yds is smoked ! Re: A Realtree.com Proposition ok even though im from Iowa i would be willing to drive to Ohio or Missouri or anywhere else . some of us need to understand that we need to have this in a central location like Ohio so that more people can show up. seeing how most of our members are from the east coast it think Ohio would be about right. its only a 11 hour drive for me and i do it each year to go home to visit with my mom and dad. plus i could pick up another guy on the way . or we could do like we did for the hog hunt . i drove to illinois and met jjl , dartonman , billkay and bulldog and then we left for tenn from there. i will say that the ride down and back from Tenn was as much fun as the hunt . i vote for a 3-D course nearby so that we can shoot . i wonder if the IBO could help us out on this , they are from Ohio and they have a ton of 3-D courses there . maybe they can recommend something for a big group . this should be decided by aug of this year so that wil give people at least 10 months to plan. sometime in late june or july would be fine for me . see ya there . Re: Post your 2004 scores here. shot the SW Iowa Bowhunters 3-D course sunday . i shot 333 out of 400. had a bunch of 8s and five 5s and a zero. this was really tough for the first tourny but it helped me realise that i need work on my range estimation. adverage distance was around 32 yds or better. highlight was a 10 ring shot on a 31 yd turkey . first target was a 35 yd standing bear . i found out that i cant shoot my bow with a long sleeve shirt. the wrist strap caught my cuff and made me shoot 6 inches left. not a great way to start out but i had a blast and i know now what i need to do.
