  3. They are extremely restrictive in this matter....that youth tag is only valid during that youth weekend, and then in late, late season....and only one of those dates....and be careful as there are a lot of late seasons now in Illinois for deer. If you want the youth to hunt the regular gun season, you will have to apply for the non resident if in fact you are not a resident of Illinois. al
  4. cash totally cool.........my oldest graduated high school last night.....they grow up way too fast.........al
  5. Glock Makes me wanna go buy one for sure after your 20 yard shots on the paper target......very nice shooting...........al
  6. If you cut metal coat hangers, the straight center parts, and use them as stems, you can put them in the ground an inch away from the tails of your decoys on both sides, and it gives them a little wiggle, but no spin.....have a great year.......al
  7. Nice video Luke....only bit of advise I have is, if you know where the birds roam, I would of had my hen decoy heading towards me, turned her around......that way it looks as if she is leaving them, not heading towards them.....nice bird, congrads again buddy.............al

  11. Murphys law Mine was last season......I set up on a treeline, only to see the gobbler on a branch, a mere 20 feet ABOVE ME. He flew down, right in front of me, I purred, he came right to the boot laces, a mere two feet from my feet, and my gun misfired, it never fired, the firing pin was ceazed up. I never saw that bird ever again. al
  12. Famous last words of Bin Laden....I need 24 Navy Seals in my house, like I need a hole in my head!!!....lol.........al

  16. If you can borrow a B mobile strutter, man ohh man, what a difference that thing makes.....if you see my post with the "double with the boys" I never had much faith in a decoy, but that B mobile changed my mind in a hurry......its worth a shot, as when the birds don't talk, they still honor the strutter.....our bird we missed came from 300 yards away to get a good look at the competition. Good luck buddy...al
  17. Ill go 250.00 for someone local, but I am not giving up any more funds....I would do some trading too.....I could use more small game rifles for my boys, .22 rifles, or whatever....keep me in mind, as the snow will be flying soon, and this gun gets it done....al

  20. turkeys Rhino....that big bird was the largest I ever saw in the wild, he was in the 30 pound class.....his head and neck were solid gray, and well....he definately got that big from being extremely cautious......lol....thats what makes memories for sure though....al
  21. I took my son Hunter (age 17) and my son Marshall (age 13) for a turkey hunt on Friday morning, and after a long rain shower, and me being summoned to work, the day was cut short. Now, here comes Saturday.....set up a B mobile strutter, and hen decoy 15 yards from the brush we were hiding in. The morning couldn't of been more perfect, at dawn all we heard were gobblers sounding off in the woods 150 yards in front of us, and they gobbled for hours with nothing but time on their hands. Here is the scoop, in Illinois, your "granted" a season of choice, and you hunt only that season, my season, along with my son Hunter was 5 days long. I have five kids to feed, along with me and the wife, so if we have an opportunity to shoot a legal bird, well...I eat gobblers most years, but will not turn down a Jake for dinner. That being said, we had a huge bird come right in on our decoy, he had two running hens with him, and he got within 30 yards, and before Hunter my son could put the shot on him, his spidey senses kicked, in and he hauled out of there. No harm, no foul, I left the brush, repositioned the decoys farther down the hill, and stared into the brush, and told Hunter to cover his shiny forehead, and to tuck into the brush better..lol, lesson learned. Not 15 minutes later, we watched a coyote running two young deer through the turkey woods, and whala, here comes two gobbling birds to my sons soft purrs...when all said and done, they were two healthy Jakes and they began pecking the B mobile in the mouth..lol...well, seven yards, and loads of 4 shot, we have two fine birds for the freezer. God Bless America, I had an absolute blast hunting with my kids...and when I opened up the birds, they were FULL of MINT leaves...good tasting birds ahead...lol...Good luck to all. al(photos coming with the help of Buckee)
  22. I have (bought from Ohiobucks a few years ago) a 12 guage HR Ultra Slugster, with red dot scope and sling. This gun will put em in the same hole from the tree, or bench, extremely accurate. Im looking at 300.00 obo, or trade for possibly .22 rifles for my kids, or a nice handgun, Im getting into traditional ml hunting more than ever this season, and need to do some trading to keep momma happy. al
  23. Ruttinbuc, I was mistaken, the 12 guage is a Savage single shot, and Shaun.....we will hold on to the 16 guage for you, if I ever get rid of it, its yours........al

God Bless America.....great post Blade, now if the flag is staying out at night, you must have a light on it....get dad to install a nice spotlight on it..........al
  25. Went to a consignment auction with the wife and one of my sons, and put some bids on some guns at a slow pace, and won three of the ones up for sale. I won a Hawkins blackpowder rifle, brand new, and just awesome looking for $ 130.00 they stated it was a CVA made in Spain, but it looks just like a traditions. I also purchased an old Iver Johnson Champion 16 guage single shot for a mere $ 65.00, and its it about 90 percent condition, and a Savage Arms single shot 12 guage for $ 40.00. Not great deals, but I feel they were nice deals, and I now finally own a Hawkins rifle for primitive seasons other than Illinois. Have a great day. al
