  1. I'd purchased a used Remington 870 Express 20 gauge a few weeks back and thought it would be a good opportunity to refinish my first stock. Finished the job last night and it looks pretty good if I have to say so myself. I'll try and get a few pictures taken and post them here.
  2. Re: How many own both a 20 ga. and a 12 ga. ? I've got numerous 12 gauge shotguns (5) (Browning, Remington and Rizzini), three 20 gauges (Remington, Berretta, and a little New England) and one 16 gauge (Browning). Hardest part is deciding which one to take with me when I go to shoot.
  3. Re: Last attempt at sporting clays Now trying to decide which gun to shoot -- decisions decisions. See you there!
  4. Re: Last attempt at sporting clays Are we meeting at 0800?? at the range or at the clubhouse
  5. Re: Last attempt at sporting clays Unless the boss has something scheduled for him -- I'll most definitely bring him along. I also have a friend that I would like to bring along if that's OK.
  6. Re: Last attempt at sporting clays I believe either date works for me. Looking forward to seeing you again!
  7. Re: Northern Bones!!! If you get a decent size fish (about 5 pounds or bigger) I just prefer to take them out when I'm eating the fish. They all lay in a line in the top part of the fillet -- very easy to find and remove. By the way northern is my favorite eating fish, bar none.
  8. Re: BASS FISHING CONTEST!!!!! OK it's not the largest bass -- but it is the tops in my book. This is a picture of my son and the LM bass (15 inches) he caught last week at a Kids Fishing Derby. It was the largest fish taken during the tournament.
  9. Re: Virginia Sporting Clays Gathering Thanks AJ!! I'll be ready for the next one. But you know I wouldn't have missed my son catching this fish for the world
  10. Re: Virginia Sporting Clays Gathering Sorry AJ, but just to let you know -- Jonathan won the Largest Fish prize at the kids fishing derby this morning with a 15 inch largemouth. Definitely worth missing the shoot to see his face when he pulled that fish in and then at the awards ceremony. Should have my 20 gauge 870 this coming weekend if that stock is still available.
  11. Re: Cutting the stock down? Thank!! If there is a better place on the web to get the info I haven't found it. Thanks guys
  12. Anyone out there had experience with measuring the pull length required for a shooter and then cutting the stock down to length? I purchased a 870 express in 20 gauge (not a huge investment) and I want to fit it to my son (10 years old, 5 foot tall). Is this something I can do or should I consider other options? Gunsmith / Purchace Youth Stock? Interested in your comments.
  13. Re: Favorite Rifles The rifle I've enjoyed the most over the years is my Remington 700 in .222 that I've hunted fox/coyotes with for years. Lots of history and great memories tied up in that gun.
  14. Re: Virginia Sporting Clays Gathering AJ I'm unavailable on the 4th -- I'm scheduled to take my son to a Kids Fishing Derby that day. If anything changes with that I'll let you know. Something of interest -- I offered up two rounds of trap for the Silent Auction at my son's elementary school spring fair. Thought I'd have a tough time getting a bid -- WRONG. Even here in Northern VA parents are VERY interested in getting their children involved with shooting. Two rounds of trap went for $60. Not bad huh?
  15. Re: 44 MAG Question Will do...appreciate the info!
  16. Re: 44 MAG Question Figured I'd better ask before launching rounds at the range. Thanks!
  17. Are there any problems/issues with shooting 44 Special ammo in my 44 MAG pistol?

    My first mount

Re: My first mount Looks great Bud! Really has a nice classic whitetail look. Never had a head mounted, only antlers. Next time we get together I'll bring them along to show you.
  19. Re: Spring Sporting Clay Get Together That has my vote -- me and my guest aren't too interested in getting soaked while I'm getting my butt beat by AJ either.
  20. Re: Spring Sporting Clay Get Together Hey AJ what time are we planning to get together -- 0830?? Are we meeting at the range or on the yard?
  21. Re: Picked up my Pistol Saturday Thanks for all the info -- as always you guys are a great source of info and it's very much appreciated!
  22. Re: Picked up my Pistol Saturday Hangunnr - can you explain to me the difference between the Blackhawk and the Brisley are? You mention above Brisley Grips -- I'm ignorant as to what that entails.
  23. Re: Picked up my Pistol Saturday I always factor the S/H as well as the FFL fee into my overall bid limit. Had a great time at the range this past weekend with my 9 yr old son. He was mostly shooting his .22 rifle, but he also had the guts enough to pull the trigger on my 1860 Army black powder revolver. Hit the paper at 25 yards - just needs to get a little stronger.
  24. Re: Picked up my Pistol Saturday I paid $325 + $50 for shipping / handling and FFL = $375 total- how did I do?
  25. Re: Spring Sporting Clay Get Together AJ - I think it would be a good day for you to start shooting left handed. It looks like I may have a guest to bring along as well if the weather isn't too cold.
