  1. I just got back on here, and I don't want to wake the wife, so I'll post it later on this afternoon. She hasn't been sleeping good, and if I turn on the light, she'll go ballistic on me...lol. Dawg
  2. I also have good luck with the Iron Silk. I do alot of river fishing and that line is tough, but doesn't have a bad memory to it. I have had bad luck with stren, so I don't use it anymore. I pull shadraps cross current alot, and the knot strength isn't there. Trilene XL was my all time favorite in 8 pound, but the last several spools of that have left a memory in the line, and I'll be leaving that stuff behind now too. The kid uses spider mono with great results. I may have to try it. Dawg
  3. Some of the pro's were talking about this line on another message board awhile back. They stated that the line will be visible until 12 feet, and then it will disaappear. About 90 percent of my fishing is in less than 12 feet, so I sure won't be buying any of it. Dawg
  4. Is there any interest in here for a very lightly used pair of Swarovski 10x25 binoculars? I paid $525 for them when I bought them brand new several years ago. I've had them outside only twice, and that was to look across the lake to see if people were catching any fish in thier boats. At that time I also compared them to Simmons and Tasco. There was no comparison, these are extremely high quality. These are an extremely clear set of optics, and I'm in need of some bill paying money. I'll start them out at $375 shipped to your door any where in North America. I will also entertain offers, but no trades. Thanks for looking. Dawg
  5. One piece of good news here...I had to take my daughter in to the DMV to try to get her drivers license. The last time I took her, she failed. This time, fortunately she passed it. But, the last time...mid summer last year, we had to wait in line for almost 2 hours just to get up to confirm that she was in the building. And the people behind the desk were ticked because of all of the noise. It was just packed with spanish speaking illegals, and basically they just handed them licenses just to get the lines moving. Just to make an appointment was backed up for several months. When I took her this time, the building had about 15 people in it. A sign on the wall stated that as of April 30, any aliens had to have proof of legal status, or no license. And, any misconceptions would be treated harshly. This is the first thing that Doyle has done for Wisconsin that is worth a pinch. I was pleasantly surprised. Dawg
  6. Nice gill. We are starting to pick up some nice gills around the lake I live by now too. Got into a couple of 10+ inchers about a week ago. Also picking up some healthy 9 1/2" perch here and there too. Dawg
  7. I can't get near pancakes anymore. When I was 17, my sister made pancakes for breakfast. It seems like no- one was hungry that morning except for me. And, not wanting any to go to waste, I ate 26 of them! The last 4 were pansized, just to get rid of the leftover batter!! To this day, I almost puke when I get near a pancake. Dawg
  8. I had a huge supply of gas myself yesterday, so I didn't bother filling up anymore...

    Cancer Update

I'm really sorry to hear this Steve. Keep your spirits up, buddy. We're all rooting for you to get better. Delays make it tougher, but you are tough enough to make it happen. Tom
  10. I've got to take some out of the freezer now...all of this talk about walleyes...lol. Nice fish. Dawg

Congrats, Ken. I wish you two many more good anniversaries. Dawg
  12. Welcome to Realtree forums. Walleye fishing is a passion of mine, and has been for many years. Jigging is a fantastic way to catch them, and sometimes it takes a little trial and error to find out what will work on a given day. Sometimes dragging a jig slowly works better that aggressive jigging. I have hundreds of different color and sizes; and a several different types of jig heads. You mentioned a gold head, and sometimes they work really good. I use them mainly on stained waters or rivers, as they sometimes spook fish in a really clear lake. But, on an overcast day, they may catch alot because the shine is lessened. Sometimes a bullet head will work better than a roundhead, etc. I experiment alot while jigging. I start out with a bright color on a cloudy day, and a white or darker color on a clear day. Then I take note of the fish I catch. If none, or just a few shy bites, I move to something different. Some days, a plain lead head jig will out fish the colored ones. When something starts to work, I stick with it until the bite gets slow. Sometimes a fuzzy grub body has all the action you need, and sometimes a twister tail works better. Experiment with colors on these too. Here is a tip for you when losing minnows while jigging. If I use a hair jig, or grub body, I tie a small, short line stinger hook just behind the main hook. I only use fatheads or small emerald shiners for jigging, and I hook the minnow on the stinger. This allows the minnow to move less rigidly, and the stinger will cut down on lost fish. Use the lightest jig that you can, and still maintain contact with the bottom, unless you are using a slip bobber. On the slip bobber, I like to use 1/16, or 1/32 oz jigs. I never tried the Gulp baits, but I hear they work good. If you try jigging and can't get them to bite, try a river rig, or a strait set line, and jig them in. Just keep an open mind, and try different things if you have to. Sometimes, positioning your boat is what might mean the difference between fish, or no fish. Good luck fishing this year. Dawg
  13. Jeramie bought a Summit treestand from me. Money Order was sent out at super speed. A great man to deal with. AAA+++ transaction. I guess we are both slow at posting feedback though...lol. Tom

    Hi Strangers

Good to see you're back around here now. Hopefully they may be able to help with the pain in the therapy. Dawg
  15. Fishing can get a bit dangerous at times. Glad to here that she is ok. 2 winters ago I was unloading my ice shack, and a size 14 treble hook went into my finger, past the barb. I had to cut it out with my jacknife, and that hurt a bit. Getting a big treble in the shoulder must have really put some pain in it. Dawg
  16. I had to take one of my vehicles in to get one of those replaced. It was about 6 years ago, and it was almost a 200 and some dollar repair back then, if I remember correctly. Good luck. Dawg
  17. Hang in there buddy. It sometimes seems like pain can get to be unbearable, but you slightly numb up to it afterwhile. Praying that your pain gets to be bearable, and your recovery comes on quickly. Tom

  19. I commend you for taking those does, Dogg6. If eveyone did thier part, things wouldn't get out of control. Like Doc said, there are always ones around who make it so programs don't work. And you are right Doc, the laws are getting so complex and numerous, that the lawyers will soon be the only one's who can interpret them. Dawg
  20. Dogg6, One of my cousin's kids stole a big old doe I shot last year, just because of that rule. Our big group usually puts down at least 15-20 deer a season on public land. 2/3 of them are does, but that's on a 15000 acre tract. We have been doing those numbers and higher since before the T-Zones started up that way. They started that rule where if you tagged a doe in 2005, it was good for 2006. So, alot of people hadn't caught on about that until last season. I was in a wheel chair and shot a doe at about 40 yards. She dropped within 15 yards, and the one kid tagged it, and said he shot it. Found out later that I had shot it, but he desperately wanted that buck tag for this year. I couldn't get my wheelchair out in the swamp to assess the situation. That rule should be EAB for everyone starting from scratch the year it is in effect. Our group only saw a smaller number of deer last year, and only tagged 10 of them. That is the worst I've seen it since about 20 years ago. Deer are still being sited in large groups up there now on the private fields, so the actual population is not taking a hard hit, except on the public. They are making it so the goofy ones who refuse to shoot does on thier big tracts of land, are raping the public lands now, just to earn that tag. I know too well how the EAB works. Dawg

    I Apologize

We're all pulling for you to get yourself in tip top shape again...lol. Keep focused on your issues, everyone here knows that you need to. That 3 day trip is a bummer, eh? Take care, buddy. Tom
  22. Earn a buck is not good, if there are huge tracts of private lands that are only open to 3 or 4 hunters, and they go on public land to take thier does! I talked to several groups of individuals whom have been doing this, and the 63A public area where I hunt is getting overrun with people doing that! As long as this practice is going on, there is no way that the DNR can get EAB to work! It is a useless effort that is turning into heated arguments according to the news about a meeting that took place in one of the town halls west of here. Hunters that only hunt small parcels of private land, or public land are not seeing any deer. Some spots that just a few years ago were litterally filled with deer are for the most part, wiped out because too many does were killed. When the season starts, the deer funnel into these huge tracts of private land, and only come out nocturnally until the hunt is over. The only way they get moved out of there is if someone drives them out, and that doesn't happen either. EAB seems to be Wisconsins only answer to doe control, and it is not working. When private lands show most of the deer concentrations in fly overs during the season, the DNR is going to have to make it so the landowners Have to make it accessible to more hunters, or do away with this useless EAB practice. Figure out another alternative, and antler restrictions is not the answer. Dawg
  23. Who are the Senior members? Dawg
  24. I went from about 3010, down to just over 900. Just a lowly 10 pointer now, instead of a Monster buck, or Senior member...lol. I'm feeling so old, I'm losing points on my rack, he, he. Dawg
  25. Got the M.O, and shipped the stand yesterday. Will get your tracking number in your p.m. when you clear out some posts...lol. Dawg
