Re: BIG GAME BROADHEADS I used the G5 Montecs last year for my elk and it dropped within 50 yards. Great broadhead!

Re: Need A Little Advice If anything just ask her if she would like to sit with you a couple of times to see if she is interested. Watching hunting videos and reading hunting magazines also gets me pumped up for a hunt. If she likes the outdoors I am sure she will love to go with you. Sometimes it is just being with a good hunting partner that makes or breaks the hunt for you.

My sister and brother in laws own a company and every year they have an annual outting for their customers and family. It is great. They more or less have stations. 1)trap shooting 2)pistol shooting 3)bow shooting. It is an all day event that keeps everyone busy and having fun.

I am not much of a fisher person so that is not my summertime activity. I do like to practice my bow. What do you like to do in the summer?

We get to go on an archery antelope hunt in Montana this year. I have never done this before. Hopefully it will be a fun experience.

I was lucky this year to receive 2 turkey permits and even luckier to get to birds. I got another turkey (Jake) on May 20th. It was a great hunt! I invited a girlfriend to hunt with me this last season as we both had same season and zone to hunt. My husband went along to video and stay behind us to call as the birds were hanging up. We sat by a field until 5:30 that morning and did not hear or see anything. We decided to go up top to listen. Wow!! when we got to the top the woods across the field came alive with gobbles. Since I shoot right handed and Heidi shoots left handed we sat on the same tree for more coverage. We got set up and started to glass and use our range finders to get ready. My husband called again and the woods lit up with gobbles. All of a sudden a turkey comes running around from the corner of the woods (not what we were expecting). I whispered to Heidi that it had a red head and asked if she wanted it as she not gotten one yet this year. She whispers back "no go ahead, I'm not ready". Wham!!! I got him. lol Then.... I said to Heidi "did you see a beard?" lol We ran out to the field to get him. yes...he did have a beard about a 3 inch haha. My husband says hurry get him back into the woods as the other turkeys were stilling gobbling. I put my gun down and became Heidi's eyes as she can't see too far away. All 3 toms came about 200 yards across the field just a gobblin on cue. It was so cool and Heidi was just a shakin lol. Unfortunately they still hung up at about 75 yards out. Then they left. We had so much fun that morning, it was great.

Wow, this season was hard to hunt. The turkeys were not coming to the calls or decoys. It was a fluke that I got mine. I was about to give up for the day (2:00) due to frustration, heat, and ticks. I went back to the cabin to take a shower and relax then would hit it hard again the next day. I went to sit on the back porch and there was a turkey down where I just was. It flew over from across the creek. It started heading up the dug road by the cabin. I quick put my camo pants and boots back on, grabbed my gun and vest and headed out to the blind up top. It seemed like it was taking forever for him to get there, so I started using my power crystal slate. My Mother in law said he started to boogy up there once I started calling. Finally he made it to the top of the dug road. I let him get about 15 feet off the dug road and made a 35 yard shot with my 20 gauge. I have sent my pictures to Borch to put on the contest site. My turkey weighed 21 lbs, beard was 11 3/4", and the spurs were 1 3/16" and 1 1/8". You will then see that I did not get a chance to change my shirt but the blue "Realtree Roadtrips" shirt did the trick. Good luck??? Maybe

In our area this weekend there was a "First annual kid's shed hunt". Unfortunately I was unable to go as I had to work. My husband took our niece (8) and nephew (13) to it. They said it was really neat. They "planted" 25 sheds on 100 acres for the kids to find. Some of the sheds had prized attached to them. My niece and nephew didn't find any but what do you think my niece walked out with???? A cow skull. lol She said it was for Grandma. Well Grandma loved it and put it in her flower garden. They had so much fun they want to go again next year. Hopefully I can go next year. My husband also won a loggy bayou tree stand for being a mentor for kids other than their own. Cool huh??

You would not believe the turkeys that were out and about this morning in strut. Really gets a person hyped up to go hunting.

Re: How many of you Ladies bowhunt? I have been bow hunting since I was 17 (now 38) but have been seriously bowhunting the last 12 years. I have done very well bowhunting, getting at least 1 deer a year and this last year I got my elk with my bow. It is my favorite season.

Let's here how you did in 2004. I had a great hunting year in 2004. I shot 2 turkeys with my 20 gauge, a 1000 lb elk cow with my Mathews bow, and a very nice buck with my .280 rifle. I pasted up several does and smaller bucks with my bow also.

So you can get dressed up, but do you dress deer?
ladyluck replied to billygoat's topic in Women & Hunting
Re: So you can get dressed up, but do you dress deer? I have to confess I do not gut my own deer. Usually that is because the men that I hunt with are so excited when I get something that they cannot wait to get "bloody hands". I do help hold the legs while they are gutting, help drag the animal, and help process the animal. I feel that I would be competent enough to do it as many times as I have watched. -
Re: what kind of weapon do you use ladies? I use a Remington 280 for my rifle, a Remington 870 20 gauge for my shotgun, and a Mathews Q2 for my bow.

Wisconsin's opening deer gun season started this past Saturday (11-20-04). I shot a real nice deer this year. It is the biggest I have shot with either my bow or gun. Too bad there wasn't any brow tines. It was an 18" 6 pt. I was in my afternoon stand for an hour when he come running around the corner. I panicked as I realized he was not going to go in front of my ladder stand but behind me offering me no shots. As he come barreling towards me I got my shot off. It is very wooded and I only got a small opportunity to decide to take the shot and then take it. He died right under my ladder stand. I was so excited!! Hope everyone else has done well with their deer seasons.
