  1. I completely disagree with your stance. The QDMA mentality has led to better hunting opportunities across the board. No one can keep deer on their farms 100% of the time and many other hunters benefit from what you call a rich fat mans game. Money may be kicking your tail a little bit but in all likelihood you have been out worked and outsmarted by fellow hunters. I'm sorry you have such a poor outlook on things, hopefully that turns around for you.
  2. Pretty slow going on our area. It's typical when gun season kicks off.
  3. William I've heard of guys purposely hitting yotes bad enough for them to go back to the den and die in it. I've also heard dens can be smoke bombed with a few boys carrying scatter guns waiting....
  4. Our fun opened this weekend too. Not much happening for us, but plenty of shooting around us.
  5. Strike 3 for Illinois. I did have my opportunity and didn't let the arrow fly yesterday morning on a 160 10. I passed at 42 because the shot felt rushed and I thought he would continue to come in, but he turned behind some brush and walked dead away. He had no clue I was there, just one of those unlucky deals.
  6. Nice Job!!!!! Can't wait to see them! Slow morning for me. Working on the all day sit.
  7. I'm headed back home for a few days and then coming back down on Saturday when it snaps cold.
  8. I've been hunting hard down here in IL. I've seen two shooters which meet my 150 minimum. All the guys in camp are seeing deer just not quite able to close the deal.
  9. Keep after it. I leave for IL tomorrow afternoon and will be there through next Thursday. Hopefully good things to come!
  10. Definitely more action right now than usual. I hunted last night seeing 6 bucks and 10 does. My neighbor shot a decent 10 nosing a doe and his son had a mature 8 tailing a doe all night. Road kills have spiked since this weekend. My scrape activity has actually dropped off. It was very hot for the last two weeks though. Seen a couple fights too along with mature deer messing with does.
  11. We were able to find him this morning. He made a big U and ran about 800 yards. He's a clean 10 around 130 inches. I'm very excited we found him and he put us through the paces.
  12. Nice job NY! I'm out helping the neighbor trail one this morning. Not sure which deer he hit, but he should be a good one. We followed blood for about 400 yards last night and backed out after the second bed. Terrible blood trail, one of the toughest I've been on. I'm thinking maybe clipped one lobe of liver and stomach with a very low plugged exit wound. The positive is I think I know where he's trying to go so I'm hopeful this morning.
  13. After 11 years of duck hunting I finally got my first band this morning! It was a mallard hen. She was banded in 2015 from Saint Mary's Ohio and from this years hatch.
  14. Great research. I'd really like to see it performed on deer 3.5 and older though.
  15. No deer hunting this weekend for me, it's time to fold up some ducks!!!
  16. Pass throughs are definitely an issue for most expandables. I'm shooting 80lbs and creating over 90lbs of KE and they still basically fall out of the far side. I can't argue about the rages putting deer down rather quick and even on liver gut shot deer too. The issue is the blood trail. I had one of the 5 spew blood and crash in 30 yards, but I broke both her shoulders. Even the liver hit deer didn't bleed externally. My lab actually recovered a doe we lost the blood trail on and she only went between 150 to 200 yards on a liver hit. Hardly any external blood loss with an entry and exit wound. The blades undeployed on exit. I think inlay have actually posted pictures or comments about it a few years back.
  17. Dan you already know how I feel about Elite. I've been shooting one since 2008.
  18. 100% I'd shoot the spitfires from a crossbow. My dad and buddy use those. Devastating damage and the biggest exit wounds I've ever seen from a broad head.
  19. Chisel tip heads. I have limited experience with expandables, I'd guess about 10-12 deer shot with them. 5 with rage(terrible blood trails/caused massive internal damage but created a slit wound/deer went down reasonably fast) 5-6 with rocket sidewinders(crazy internal damage and great blood trails/busted several arrows due to weak metal piece where attached to the arrow, had to use crossbow oring/very dull out of the package/discontinued) All have been passthroughs although only a few buried in the ground/broke shoulders with rages and sidewinders. A few rages undeployed after impact leaving only a field point entry or exit hole.
  20. Most 3 blade expandable so should do the trick. I have grim reapers now and it blew a giant hole in the buck I shot. Much bigger exit than entrance. Had the same results with rocket sidewinders.
  21. Not too much shaking here. I went out for the first time since shooting my buck. Decent sit with 3 does and a small 8. Dad saw one of our shooter 8's at 80 yards.
  22. It looks like I'm heading to IL the first week of November with the guy I hunted with last year. He's got a few bruisers running around so hopefully this will be good timing.
