Thanks everyone...tom. is the next hump in the road. They'll do another test to see if the coils are clotting. If not, they got to go in and do surgery. I'm still sorta in disbelief this is happening...hes too young (surgeon said he's at least 10 years younger than the normal average), hes a husband and father...I just can't seem to say enough prayers!

Sorry my bad...I didn't watch the video (dial up)...assumed everyone was talking about the .300 win.

Long story short...got a call Thursday at work from my mom that my brother collapsed at work while on location (he works in the gas field...operates a blender truck for fracking wells). They took him to a hospital in Pittsburgh by ambulance. He was awake and alert when they took him. 30 mins later I get a text from my sister-in-law that they were life flighting him to another hospital in Pittsburgh with bleeding in his brain. They did an emergancy drain in his skull to relieve pressure and fluids. They then moved him from the ER to radiology to put in these coils into the bleeding aneurysm to try and get it to clot. He's doing better now...he wakes up and reconizes people...but quickly falls back to sleep...when he wakes again...he don't remember whats going on and who was there. Monday they plan to do another test to see if the coils are clotting and stopping the bleeding. If not...they are opening up his skull and doing surgery! He will be in ICU for at least 2 weeks and in the hospital for prob. at least a month providing everything goes well. That means he'll be in there for christmas...plus money is going to be an issue. The guys he works with are taking up a collection and also forfieted they're holiday pays and remaining vacation to give to him. I need prayers...going to be a rough 10-14 days! Thanks

Your kidding right? The .300 mag is prob. one of best all around cal. I use mine for deer, bear and also took an elk with it. A .300 really don't have that much recoil if shot properly!

Real good buck Charlie...congrats!

Prayers sent...hopefully it will get better.

I'm getting to this late...so did you try any of the advise here? I've heard of "dud" factory rounds before...guess its posible. I personally would have went to the range with different ammo and see if it would fire. Sounds to me like the ammo...I've seen "light" hits on primers before...but only after they've fired. I'd think it would have to be really light not to fire it off. 60% hit seems like it should have went off. Also, I would clean the bolt well and lube the firing pin. Just to rule that out.

I'd like to see a DPMS or Stag arms AR in a .300 win mag!

Congrats again Don...nice pics too...better than the little on my cell phone. -
Good deal...congrats on good eats! Where abouts you hunting at?

Congrats on a great PA buck! Nothing wrong with how you got him...things happen...end result is still the same. Anyone who said they never missed or made a bad shot bow hunting...either hasn't hunted long or is lying.

Been telling you for the past couple of years you were getting old...this just confirms it. She looks beautiful...her date is wearing a crooked tie, didn't spend alot of time cleaning the truck...and could have at least armorall'd the tires...I wouldn't trust him!

My old '02 Silverado 2500HD crew got about 12 mpg with the 4:10 gears. My new '09 Sierra 2500 crew gets around 14 mpg with the 3:73 gears. I had an '09 duramax with the allison for a weekend...put over 150 miles on it and averaged 15 mpg. Something to do with the "new" emmisions in the exhast is why the mpg sucked. After seeing the duramax as a $7,000 upgrade and the allison tranny over $2,000 and diesel costing around $.60 per gallon more than gas...I opted for the 6.0 again. Couldn't find a new truck with the 8.1 in it...wasn't sure if they even still offered that engine. Also, figure oil changes will at least double in cost with the diesel. Guess it depends on what you need it for...I wanted it...but not at that price and little mpg gain.

I dunno....I don't think I'd waste the $50 on anything with Tasco name on it. Just my thoughts!

Thanks everyone! When its done...I could use a hand setting up my reloading bench...lol I did ALOT of the work on the house when we were building it. I was on steady midnight shift and no kid!!! Told the wife...you want this...we're hiring someone...done! With me on steady day shift now and my son having therapy appt. after work just about everyday...don't leave much time in a day to do anything. Basically I gotta put another coat of Sikkens on it. And paint the drywall when its finished. Pretty much everything else is being done by a contractor.

Coming together nicely...whats going on the outside? Siding, brick?

3 in the house and since its all attached...its considered 5 bedrooms 3 1/2 baths. The apartment above the garage will not be finished any time soon...but it will be a full 2 bedroom apartment with full bath, kitchen, living room and small dining area.

Still gotta little work to do...but hoping to be parking in the garage by snow fly!

Yeah it was hard...with Stratton my Rotty...his cancer was internal...we removed the tumor and his spleen and he was with us for almost 3 more years. He wasn't having a quality life any longer and it was easier to see what needed to be done. With Capers...his was a tumor on his front leg. Other than looking uncomfortable while lying on it...he was still a happy dog and in no pain. Our options were...have it removed and prob. have it come back before it healed and him being in pain and prob. die before it was healed. Option 2 was to do nothing, but there was a good chance it would burst and he bleed to death with no one around (not really an option in my mind). Option 3 was to ampiate the leg, but with his back hips starting to give him issues...we don't think he would make it on 3 legs at his age. So option 4 seemed like the best choice. He had some quailty time at the vets before the injection...within 10 sec. he looked to be peacefully sleeping. Def. the most humane way to go!
-
Thanks everyone! It def. wasn't an easy choice to make, but my wife and I know it was the right one.

to say that Capers "the official Realtree forums mascott" has went to a better place. After 12 1/2 great years...he lost to cancer. We actually made the call to put him down. Wasn't easy by no means...but he went peacefully and in no pain! Rest in peace Cape...you'll be missed...8/25/10

Guess I would have made the trip...but didn't know about it until I was commited to work! Next time.

Best ones that stick out in my mind...shot a groundhog over 500 yards with my .22-250. And took a all out running doe at 200+ plus yards with one shot with my winchester .270
