Re: shed contest Personally, I'd like to see photos of all the sheds found. I like the ideas of the rules stated above. Sureshot and I will be setting the contest up this year, I want to get the contest updated once a week or so........I'll make a banner for the winning team to put into their signature. An official rule post will come soon - patience, young grasshoppers!!

This is going to qualify as the most stupid post of the year award, but that's okay, LOL. Feel free to add your best deer-hunting related Chuck Norris jokes to the list! Here are a few I made..... Did you know Chuck Norris actually killed the legendary Hole in the Horn buck?? He was standing on the tracks trying to prove a locomotive going at full speed would actually bounce off him - the buck jumps out right about that time, and Chuck executes a perfect roundhouse kick to the face, sending the Ohio legend into the fence. The train de-railed too. Chuck Norris killed a booner last year simply by pointing his finger at it and saying "BANG!!" Chuck Norris can, in fact, catch Mathews...... It's a little known fact that all mature bucks attend Chuck Norris' survival school..... He has the world's most effective food plot seed blend - Chuck Forage Oats!!!

Hey everyone, My wife & I are going to be flying soon, and we'd like to get by with just carry-on stuff. I've flown in major airports before, but not since 9/11 and the security changes. Naturally, clothes and a few bathroom items will be fine, but there are a few things that I'm wondering how picky they'll be with, such as: cell phone iPod 30 DVD's (yes, I have to bring them!!) personal DVD player (small, 7" screen type - once again, I need to bring it!!) We'll be sure to be within the limits of the carry-on size and weight requirements. Do you think we'll have any problems with the items listed above??

Re: Shed Contest The contest usually starts after the first of the year, and then has a cut-off date for entries. More info will be posted as the contest draws near. Check back for updates after 1/1/2007. 2007 should be a good year for sheds and a contest!

Re: Converting music to MP3 Question Not sure about LPs - but with CD's you can rip tracks into Windows Media Player or iTunes or something similar. Windows Media Player files are WMA file types, so they won't work on an iPod unless you convert them over to the correct format in iTunes. My advice would be to download iTunes and rip the library into it.

I have a friend of whom I've known for the better part of 15 years, dating clear back to high school. He's been a good friend of the family, but he loves to tell tall tales to others. I'm not sure why he does it, whether it's for attention or what. Recent case in point - some of you may remember the trail camera pic that surfaced a couple years ago showing the cougar stalking a buck. A couple months ago, he sent me the picture (which I'd seen before) and told me he got the picture recently on his camera in a Kansas creekbottom. Not only did he tell me, but several other buddies of his as well. They all found the picture on the Internet. On the picture he sent me, he even went so far as to photoshop a racoon sitting ON TOP OF the cougar. When I asked what was up with the racoon, he said "the animals must have just been acting funny that night" just as serious faced as could be. I immediately showed him the pic I had already seen a couple years ago, and he just chuckled and laughed it off. The other guys called his bluff as well. Okay ... no big deal. Then a couple months ago, my wife was mounting a deer of his. He wanted to learn about taxidermy, because he'd like to start mounting his own deer and maybe some for other guys. We said fine, and he came over and watched her put it together. She let him borrow a couple videotapes, which he took home and watched. After the deer had dried, she decided to put the finish work on it - and he wasn't around when she worked on it. He came and got the mount, and took it home to show his other friends. Knowing how the guy likes to tell stories, I was worried he might mention to his friends that HE mounted it. Well, guess what? Last night I was talking to a mutual friend that knows the both of us - I said, "Did you like the deer my wife mounted for him??" He came back and said "HE TOLD ME HE MOUNTED IT AND YOUR WIFE JUST SHOWED HIM WHAT TO DO!!" Just what I was afraid of. Here's where it gets interesting - the guy that supposedly mounted this buck has told me he already has a couple friends that want him to mount their deer - even though he's never mounted one and is taking credit for my wife's taxidermy. One of those guys that (supposedly) wants him to mount a buck is also a buddy of the friend of mine that called me last night. So word is going to get out he fibbed about mounting this buck. And this guy wants to start his own taxidermy service - I don't think saying something would do any good, but I do believe word of mouth about his dishonesty will be a bad, bad thing for his chances of running a successful taxidermy shop....I think Karma will show itself in a big way here ..... Any thoughts??

deer skull my brother found a few days ago...

Re: deer skull my brother found a few days ago... Nice find, but too bad he had to die without someone wrapping a tag around him - as far as score, probably 140-ish. -
Re: buck roar v. buck growl The Roar is a MUCH better call. It has superior sound. Try the two side by side and you'll see an obvious difference.

Re: Jesse Moreheads Kansas Buck PICS FINALLY! Sweet, congrats Jesse!

Re: KANSAN\'s 2006 archery buck I arrowed this deer at 60 yards - I know longer-range shots aren't always the best idea, but I had the area where he walked out lazered at an exact distance, there was no wind, and I had the confidence I could make the shot. Had the conditions been anything but perfect, I wouldn't have taken the shot whatsoever. I got 9 inches of penetration and the broadhead buried itself in the offside shoulder.
