  4. Hey everybody, some of you may remember my wife's first buck she arrowed this past fall that was featured on the homepage of this site. If you want to see her hunt on video, it's currently on Don & Kandi Kisky's "Whitetails Taking it to the Extreme 5" DVD. It's one of the bonus hunts entitled, "Alicia's First Buck". If you're not familiar with the video series, it's a top-notch production. Check them out at www.kisky.com they do an excellent job filming and killing some big deer. You'll enjoy it, no doubt! -Jody Hadachek here's a pic of her buck:

    Late find!

Re: Late find! Good lord man!!! Congrats on an awesome antler!! Any "as it lays" pics??
  7. Hey everybody! First of all, let me apologize about not being around the past couple weeks. Congratulations on all your finds this season, there are some true die-hard shed hunters on this forum. The shed season is wrapping up fast, and so is the Realtree 2005 Forum Shed Contest. The deadline for entries will be 11:59 PM Central Time May 31 . Please have all numbers and finds reported to me by that time. I would also like you to private message me your largest shed pictures and scores of those antlers to add in the bonus points for size onto people's totals. After I tally up the final results and determine a winner, I will announce the winners of the contest and make them a special award avatar they can display as they post on Realtree.com. Thanks!
  8. Re: first drop tine Awesome, congratulations on the find!!
  9. Re: ATTENTION shed hunting teams!! READ! Be sure when you PM to include any matched sets you find in the totals, and the total # of points earned as mentioned in the shed criteria stated in another post .... thanks!!
  10. Re: Ten sheds found today .... pictures The sheds we found were on a 160-acre tract.
  11. I'm planning on making two sticky threads for the shed contest. I'm going to make one thread where the team members can post pictures of the sheds each team finds .... this will help to keep track of the biggest shed/most scoreable points, etc. The other thread I'm going to make will be the one where I keep a tally for the running shed & point totals. I'm going to make it in a "weekly update" format, where I'd like each individual team member to PM me their totals at the end of each week, for that week. I'm making the week end Saturday night, so I will need totals for that week by that day. I will need shed totals and overall point totals for each team member, so I can add them up and post them on this official thread to make a team total each week. Since this is Sunday, I'd like the team members to PM me their shed totals so far for the contest ASAP so I can post team totals. Be sure NOT to include those numbers when you message me next week, because they will be new numbers. The leaders each week I will bold out in red font. I'll need to know what date to make as a contest deadline ..... does May 31st sound okay?? At the end of the contest, we can figure in the extra points for the largest sheds/most points on a shed, etc. and come up with a final point count and winner. Since it's a contest, I feel the winner should receive something. So for the two winners of the contest, I'll make you a custom banner that says "Winner, 2005 Realtree Shed Forum Contest" or something similar that you can display as an avatar or something. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing. Basically, all you need to do is PM me each week both shed totals AND point totals (I'll leave the point figuring up to you) and I'll do the rest. The reason I want to do it this way is because it will keep the contest a lot more organized and members can see where they stand each week. You guys just have to find the sheds .....
  12. Re: First one of the year.... Fantastic, congratulations!
  13. Re: Kansas Goes Down Typical Kansas Jayhawk fiasco. They have a habit of getting beat by underdog teams. I figured they'd at least get by the first round, but I didn't think they'd make it past the second. Go Duke!!
  14. Alicia & I went out shed hunting today (3/19), and managed to find ten sheds. She found seven and I found three. We didn't expect to find many fresh ones, since there weren't any fresh food sources nearby. However, I figured there would be old sheds in there and we got into them. On this day, we actually brought the digital camera with us - here are some pictures of what we found. The first is "as it lays" and the second is of us holding the shed. Here was the first shed Alicia found, a typical four point with an abnormal point off the inside of the beam .... Here's a picture of the second one she picked up, a real nice four-point side with a 5 4/8" base .... Not five minutes later, she found this shed from an old buck, a four point with four stickers. She saw 3" of a tine sticking out of the grass .... Two minutes later she found this smaller four point side .... Two minutes after that, she went around the corner and found this five point side from last year .... A couple minutes after taking the pictures of her and the five pointer, I crossed a ditch and finally found one .... Ten minutes later, I found a nice five point side in a dry creekbed .... Five minutes after I found that one, Alicia spotted this awesome shed with double stickers off the G2 .... It took about 15 minutes to find another shed .... I picked up this little guy .... About this time, the camera's battery went dead. Alicia managed to find one other shed after that, a small four-point side. All in all, it was a fantastic day to be out in the woods!!
  15. Re: Shed Hunting Team List and criteria congratulations!!!
  16. Re: Nice article on the homepage Jody! Thanks guys, I'm glad you liked it!
  17. Re: Shed hunting teams??? I like the point idea ... maybe one point per tine or something?? I won't be on the computer again until Sunday, so I'll check back then and see if any new ideas popped up.
  18. Re: Shed hunting teams??? I've been reading this post, and I've got several concerns. First of all, how could you make this an honest contest? I could see problems here with inflated shed numbers and/or scores. I'm not saying it will happen, and it would take a lot of trust in someone's word. I'm just a little leary about that. Another thing - HOW exactly WOULD you make point totals? Would it be by total number, or by biggest scoring side, or what? I'm also concerned with how the teams would be placed together. It seems like a couple people are pretty much running everything. I don't think that's quite fair. If you're going to plan teams, I think a drawing system would work better rather than just picking them. I also feel that a "team captain" isn't necessary, and just picking captains from Canada as being unfair. What if someone else wants to be a captain? I think if there's an absolute NEED for a captain, it should be by either a drawing or a voting system. I realize that the Canucks seem to find more sheds than those south of the border, and the idea of one of the Canadian shed enthusiasts on each team would be a fair way to go. I realize I haven't said much about this topic, and I apologize for it. I'm not trying to flex my muscle as a moderator, but since I'm listed in that capacity, I wanted to voice some of the concerns I have. I think a contest like this could be done, but it's not going to be easy to make it fair and honest. Personally, I'm not interested in joining the contest. But I think it needs some work if it's going to be done.

    Update ...

Hey guys, sorry about the lack of reports on my end. The main reason is because I don't have much to report!! Friday evening I saw 11 bucks, ten of which still had both sides. The other buck had lost one side. I've only found six antlers so far this year. Two of those I picked up almost in the dark going back to my truck Friday night. I've been trying to stay out of my better areas before things get really good. Congrats to everyone on the forum that's picking them up!!!
  21. Re: Kansan Post Some Pics. Is the suspense killing ya? LOL - I've found a half dozen so far, most of the bucks here are still carrying their antlers. It's going to get good real soon!!
  22. Re: 2-16-5 Kansas sheds... Awesome job, congrats!!!
