  1. Semper Fi - and thank you for volunteering to serve. Do so with pride.
  2. The concept behind tasers, OC and other less-than-lethal devices are to avoid the use of physical contact or force which oftentimes results in injuries to the person, the officer, or both. In fact, most department's use of force continuum policies require they be employed before the use of physical contact. That is probably why the department is backing the officer. And, just because the person is elderly doesn't mean they can't ramp up the danger to both themselves and the officer. Does it look bad? Yeah. Was it necessary? She was resisting arrest and the officer tried a number of times to use voice command to obtain compliance. She made her decision.
  3. You pay union dues that non-union members do not pay? And, they make the same money without paying dues? Who's your master? Can't do much about SS and taxes. We're all stuck in that boat. But, to pay something to someone for nothing doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Unions at one time may have served a purpose. But they've outlived their usefulness and are in it for themselves now. You get a raise - they get a raise. Where are they for the sweat shops? No money in it for them. They don't save jobs. They don't get you a job if they lose the one you had. And, they helped get the Annointed One elected.
  4. Dear friends: I am not a conspiracy theorist - and I dislike conspiracy theories. And, I am not an extremist - but they can make me one. Those of you know me know that I am not a supporter of Obama, his policies, or the direction he is taking this country. But, this goes beyond just a simple distaste for the man and what he stands for. Early on I hoped him the best because if he won - we won. But, I came to support his failure because if he won - we, as Americans, lose. Today, I was given a copy of The Obama Deception by a friend to watch. After watching it I decided to share it with my friends. After watching it, please feel free to forward it on to your friends. Even those who may disagree. After all, the more we can educate - the better. This video is a mostly fact based production entitled The Obama Deception. In all fairness, it is not his deception alone. Obama is only a puppet for the power-elite. Until I watched this documentary I could not understand how the puppeteers would allow Obama to be a part of the power-elite. Then I realized they needed a new, fresh face on their puppet to sell their agenda. This covers not only Obama, but the secret agenda of the power-elite from the early 1900's thru current day and how we have transformed from the days of our Republic to the present day oligarchy. It shows how they plan to control and restrict our freedoms of individual speech and thought, our right to bear arms and our transformation toward a New World Order. As hard as it was for me to swallow, it evens portrays President Bush as the preceding puppet - and, if you know me you know how I feel about Dubya. It is a long video - almost 2 hours long. I hope that if you watch nothing else you will set aside the time to watch this. Don't watch only a part. You will miss how it all ties together. Set aside an evening after work. A rainy Saturday or Sunday morning when you're having your coffee. Bookmark the link so you can watch it over and over. Don't take my word about it. Watch it and determine for yourself how history and recent events support what is contained in this video. Any questions you have after watching this that weren't answered during the course of the video can be easily researched on-line. Have a pen and paper handy to write down the questions, laws and bills they raise and refer to so you can look them up yourself and see that it is what they are doing. I listened to Obama's book "Audacity of Hope" on CD so I would know what the man was about. What audacity by an unknown (at the time) to believe his memoirs were of any importance? Was it all in preparation for his meteoric rise to puppet-ism? However, I consider it my personal responsibility to know both sides so I can make an intelligent decision rather than have a base-less one-sided point of view. If you happen to be one of the kool-aid drinkers - I apologize if I offended you with this. But, I hope you will watch it in its entirety to make your own mind. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. Doug

  7. While the boy is only 13, today's 13 year old is often times more mature than yesterday's 13 year old. And in a year or two he'll be considered to be mature enough to drive a car but he isn't mature enough to decide what treatment he wants. This isn't a case about neglect, abuse or reckless behavior. I believe the parents have the best intent for their child and, based on both scientific and religious considerations, have opted for a natural approach rather than chemo or radiation. The government's ordering a treatment program is a further encroachment on individual rights in determining what is best for us rather than allowing us to determine that for ourselves. I saw one report that showed that 62% of cancer patients receive chemo and/or radiation while 38% opt for natural treatments - and the majority of the 62% also receive at least one natural treatment in addition to the chemo/radiation. Why didn't the government, or some court, step in and order those 38% to get chemo/radiation? Is it because this case involves a 13 year old? Unless they are neglectful, abusive or reckless, hasn't our society always left parents to determine the best for their children? Our "cradle to grave" liberal government knows what is best for us and have removed a lot of our individual freedoms. They even hate home schooling because it's a lost opportunity to indoctrinate their liberal ideas. As a 7 1/2 year military veteran and a 33 year law enforcement officer I took oaths to protect and defend the Constitution - which includes not enforcing those laws, orders and warrants which are contrary to the principles of the Constitution. Had I, during the course of my duties, come across the Hauser's I would have assured myself that Daniel was being cared for and not neglected or abused, and then sent them on their way. It is his and their parents decision on what form of treatment to seek out. The role of government is solely to provide for a national defense and insure that we play well with one another in our individual communities and states. Beyond that it is up to each individual community and state to determine what our laws are. Not the federal government or some court. As an example, government has limited regulatory authority to assure we don't harm others, i.e. speed limits, stop signs, drunk driving, and so forth. All these have the potential of harming others if our actions are not regulated. However, whether or not to wear a seat belt affects no one other than yourself. Your not wearing a seatbelt will not harm or kill the person in the other vehicle. Yet, the feds threaten to withhold highway taxes from states who refuse to pass primary offense seatbelt laws. A simple example of government's attempt to control every day life and individual decision and responsibility. I apologize for getting off topic. I use the seatbelt analogy to show how government has gone beyond their limited role. Provided they are not neglecting the well-being of their son they should be allowed to determine the course of treatment for their son. They are responsible for all other aspects of Daniel's life, but not this?

  10. Thanx - it was great. Sorry I didn't thank you earlier. Been gone two weeks.
  11. He's unwilling to let the voters (electorate) to give him a thumbs up or down on his record? Isn't that what the voters are supposed to do? Is that because he's shown his true colors in the last couple of years? We'll see if he continues to vote 100% pro-gun now that he has come out of the closet - or if he just voted that way because of the campaign money he received.
  12. Probably arrive about the same time my stimulus check will.

    Swine Flu

Any flu is serious. But, everything I've seen and read indicates it is not as serious as it is being made out to be. Swine flu has been around before and is here every year. One report said 36,000 people die every year from "flu-related" causes, and in most cases the symptoms are mild compared to normal flu strains. There were only 2 confirmed swine-flu deaths in 2006. There have been 150+ deaths in Mexico with a couple thousand others having it. Last I heard, only 64 in the US had it in half a dozen states - and no deaths. We're nearing the end of the typical flu season (when people are cooped up together inside). I personally think there's less of a chance of a pandemic than there is of a "chance to exploit a crisis." Communist News Network compared the swine-flu crisis to Hurricane Katrina and demonstrated how Obama is responding over how President Bush responded to Katrina. They continue to fail to remember that NOLA Mayor Nagin and the LA Governor turned down President Bush's offer to prepare for Katrina. They will end up saying Obama's quick reaction and leadership (shipping stockpiles of anti-virals around the country) prevented untold thousands of deaths. Everyone needs to do what they can to avoid getting not only the swine flu but any of the other more serious flu strains: washing hands often, cover when sneeze or cough and avoid those who sneeze and cough, get a vaccine if you're at risk. But, don't let the "panic" panic you.

  16. You need to have enough air flow so that the smoke kisses the meat as it passes thru the smoking chamber rather than to try and force the smoke into the meat (pressure cook). The heat should allow for slow cooking.
  17. Every time the liberals and the administration speak they espouse "the Rule of Law." http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/ However, the 'rule of law' does not apply to them. He continues to have the courts and various branches of government dismiss and/or ignore the question of his eligibility. If there wasn't anything to hide - put it out there for all to see and put an end to it. But, continuing to ignore and hide it proves it as far as I'm concerned. If the 'rule of law' meant more to them than just words, they would endeavor to return us to the Republic we are supposed to be and not the democracy we have become or the socialist state we are becoming. Democracy and socialism have nothing to do with the "Rule of Law." Rather, the concepts of both are the rule of man over the rule of law. I'm reminded of the Jaycee Creed: That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth's great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
  18. Both of you are right. 22 million hunters (gun owners) plus the untold number of veterans (don't count us old-timers out) and they have an unkown contingient on their hands. They can't count on current military or law enforcement to keep them all down. They can only hope for NATO or UN troops - or the new brown shirts - to bring about their agenda. Oops - guess I just made the list, too. But, then, I was already there - as a veteran. And, as an LEO.
  19. After 33 years I agree - no two days will be the same and you won't find a more personally rewarding, or challenging, or frustrating career. You'll have a blast in the academy. Training is invaluable and never miss an opportunity for it. But, then go back to the streets and listen to the guys who are actually doing it. Good luck.

    Tea Party

I live so far from any of the parties I wasn't able to attend. But I watched it on Fox and switched over to MSNBC's Keith Olberman for a few minutes to see if they were covering it. They were. They were calling the tea party attendees right-wing extremists and nut-jobs. Isn't it amazing - when illegal immigrants or people-of-color protest (which usually turns into riots) and cause property damage to get their message across it's portrayed as an exercise of their civil rights. But, when people gather to voice their opposition to the Messiah's current policies, the spending that is going to cause a rise in taxes and a bankrupting of the country, or who oppose the direction our country is headed - and who don't riot or cause property damage - they are right-wing extremists and nut-jobs.
  21. Don't ever let the package fool you.
  22. That's what I'm talking about. I'm sure the world community, that we're so concerned about pleasing, will denigrate our actions. The concern seems to have been more about the pirates and their rights and safety rather than the rights and safety of all the hostages who have been affected by them.
  23. Worked earlier when I tried it. Must have gone down for maintenance.
  24. Somali pirates took over another ship and a crew of 20. The difference this time is it was an American ship with 20 Americans on it. One pirate is in custody and the rest are swimming in the ocean.
