  1. LOL--something about a fox.
  2. We have to pay for them around here. Game preserves will release them for you.
  3. Thanks folks. Surgeon follow-up is on the 9th. Only real concern I have now is his drain is still draining. I know it's gross, but it's just blood. 30cc a day, doesn't seem to be slowing down. That's how I got an abcess that put me back in the hospital 2 times with infection. Sure hope that clears up soon.
  4. Yep, I've witnessed it a few times. Once watched a spike kick a 6pts tail then proceeded to breed a doe. It's the only breeding I've ever witnessed and one of the first "hard and fast rules" about whitetails that was discredited with me.
  5. Ironic, in a way, but my son got in a little fender bender on the way home from visiting his brother in the hospital the other day. He got cited for an illegal lane change. He's fine, but he broke our mirror and the lady's mirror. I called my agent this morning and told him I want to drop Joe, he's just too much of a liability and he'll be in college in a couple weeks with no need for a car. I was afraid my rates were going to get jacked, especially since we will be adding Katie in the next couple weeks. I'm hoping he wasn't giving me agent double talk, but he said my rates won't go up from the accident claim because of accident forgiveness on our policy, and Katie will only cost us an extra $10 a month. Also found out the good student discount is worth $600/year on Joe. Not sure on Katie.

    Welcome aboard!
  7. Anything that doesn't involve thrashing guitars and poor grammar. Adrenaline Junkies comes to mind.
  8. I think I'd let the landowner handle it.
  9. Thanks folks. He's up and around a bit. Complaining, so I have to crack the whip on him. Say a prayer this boy starts eating something. They might let him go tomorrow, but he's not eating.
  10. I know decenter isn't a word, but according to my wife, the pathology on Mike's tumor indicates that it was caught early enough that it appeared to be benign. I'm cautiously optimistic. I'd like to hear it from the doc myself.
  11. My son is done with his surgery. The tumor was a bit bigger than what they predicted, but there was only one. Best news is they did the whole surgery laparoscopically and they were able to save his spleen. Thanks for all the prayers folks, they worked again.
  12. In the words of my wife... "it was noticeably different..." when we added Joe. Pretty sure his good student discount got us "down" to around $150 a month for him. Soon we will be dropping Joe and adding Katie. Hope to get a bit of a break there.
  13. Awesome looking deer and mount.
  14. Visited with the surgeon today. Great guy and staff. Mike will be having his surgery Tuesday the 24th. Doc says it's pretty straightforward and he's going to try and do it laproscopically which will reduce his recovery time. He will have to take the spleen unfortunately because the tumor is laying up against the splenatic (sp?) vein, but other than that, if he has to go through this, it's about the best case scenario. Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers folks.

    Dang...

Not mine. Actually, I took my son for his surgery consult today, and briefly talked to him about me as his student was checking my son. He said it's pretty common to have stuff in the liver. I asked him about surgery, he said "probably not." I guess they'll probably confirm if they are nueroendocrine tumors with an octreotide scan, then probably do a particular type of chemotherapy, then surgery if necessary. That put me at ease a lot. Still waiting on the call from the specialist, which also leads me to believe this isn't a huge rush. My regular doctor is on vacation this week. I'll probably see him next week as my son's surgery is the 24th. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

    Dang...

Silly goose, they're never benign, lol. Doc says it's probably spread from the pancreas. Feeling a little better today I guess. Down at the hospital with my son actually. Docs ordered an Octreotide scan before his surgery, which will hopefully be next week. Thanks for all the support folks, it helps, and it's appreciated.

    Dang...

I'm sorry to report that it looks like I'll be battling cancer case #6 in the near future. Liver MRI shows 2 tumors. Appointment with a specialist soon, Octreotide scan, then probably biopsy, then probably surgery. Impeccable timing once again, I'm at a very important crossroad in my career and life. This one's got me down quite a bit. Angry, depressed, tired of it, how much more can a guy take? End of rant, thought y'all would like to know.
  18. Great looking deer Alan.
  19. Kind of thought the same thing as Alan. Maybe the heat and lack of water got them laying low or heading to closer water?
  20. Waiting patiently to see what they say about Ohio.
  21. I've seen 1 or 2 piebalds in my day, never in a hunting situation though. I have seen 1 melanistic (all black) in my day too. I've never seen an albino. Agree with William, I don't think they pose any problem genetically, personally, I'd probably let it walk in hopes of it getting bigger.
  22. No thanks, but I'm sure a few newbies will use it.
