  1. Usually buy one large family pack and go have fun with the girls.
  2. wecome to RT. you just joined today and already have 20 posts. Keep at it and you'll be there in just a few days!
  3. Average first frost in Oklahoma is the middle of October. I plant mine the when I plant all my cool season plots--which is usually the first week of September.
  4. yep---we need more details on what and how it was done and how much sunlight does the plot get---what kind of moisture (rain) have you received?
  5. i planted some throw and grow last fall--it did very well. Your strips look great!!!
  6. good luck---I know William has stated several times that he has had great success with the trophy rock. I use a plain trace red mineral block for cattle and it works just fine.
  7. cute little thing. We had a bull frog get into our pool and that thing was hard to catch. I finally saw him sitting on the step one early morning so i grabbed my fishing rod with a plastic worm. Snuck out and cast that worm in front of him and he took it quickly. One quick hook set and he was mine. Loaded him up and took him to the local duck pond.
  8. that is awesome! WTG Tink!
  9. hey strut---you could be rich inventing a mud friendly disc. Then maybe we can see you on infomercials pushing your new "Strut's Mud Disc"
  10. Spot sprayed some johnson grass invasion yesterday but all in all the first spraying of glypho knocked out 90% of the weeds. We've had a few nice timely rains and the soybeans are off and running. todd
  11. lol---good catch west tennessee man!
  12. just for information---you need to rotate out every 2nd year when planting brassicas. There is a fungus that can get started if you plant brassicas continously on the same plot for several years in a row. Probably someone on here that has more knowledge about it than me. You might want to check into that. I have never planted the wintergreens so can't give you any feedback. I have had great luck with Hamann Farms Winter brassica mix and EH's ShotPlot.
  13. sure--logging roads make good plots as long as the canopy is open enough to get some sunlight. There are several no-till products available on the market. I planted throw and grow last year with good success. If you'll broadast your seed right after a rain when the soil is muddy the seeds will stick to the mud or just prior to a rain and the rain will press the seed into the soil.
  14. I usually plant my fall plots the first weekend of September here in Oklahoma. Like Chris said if you get the moisture you should be just fine. good luck! todd
  15. wish all the "wtnhunt" people would quit bringing this to top so it will get lost and I'll get a good deal on a rifle:D
  16. looks like you got a little rain on the plot! Hope all those deer give it a chance to get established! good luck todd
  17. it will leach into the soil and last for a long time but I refresh my mineral stations about every 6 months.
  18. that plow tears that soil up and that is some really good lookin' soil. Good luck with the plot.
  19. awesome--keep us updated with pics!
  20. more than likely the soil will be very acidic so I would wait until you get the pH up a little before planting any perennials such as clover. This fall I would just plant some annuals. A nice mix of wheat, rye, winter peas, and turnips would be hard to beat for a nice cool season hunting plot.
  21. My Eagle Soybeans are now 3 weeks old. I did not spray the plot pre-planting since they are RR ready. Just mowed the plot and then tilled it up good to work the green grass and weeds back in the soil to return the nutrients. Broadcasted the beans at a rate of about 50# per acre and then covered with an ATV disc. When the beans were 2 1/2 weeks old I sprayed the plot with glyphosate. I originally planted this plot with Hamann Farms clover and trefoil but due to a couple droughts and weeds it was time to start over. I got a good 5 years out of the Hamman Farms before having to start over. I didn't want to leave the plot bare so decided to plant the Eagle Soybeans. So far they are doing well. A few nibbles but the plot is large enough to handle the deer pressure at my place: Three days after spraying glyphosate: Isabella posing for my Leaf River Game Cam: Three days post mowing a two year old clover plot: I will probably overseed the soybeans this fall with wheat and brassica and then spend one more year cleaning up the plot and plan on replanting again with a Hamman Farm Perennial. todd
