  6. Re: Dog doc dogs and west nile? There is no vaccine for dogs and I doubt there will be one any time soon. If you have a healthy dog than I wouldn't worry about. We have not seen a case in a dog in oklahoma yet but we are seeing a lot of horse cases. I would bet the dog that was infected with the virus and got sick had an underlying problem that was causing some immune suppression. There is a fairly new product out called Advantix, it controls fleas, ticks, and repells mosquitoes off dogs. If you are in an area with West Nile than I would strongly recommend that! Do not use this product on cats! good luck todd

Re: Wood Ticks... I pulled off 10 on me after turkey hunting last week! They seem to be really bad this year! todd
  13. i am enjoying your tips---keep it up! I actually shot one of my nicest bucks (good 9-pointer) at 1:30 in the afternoon. Sitting in my tower stand watching my Pokes play football on my little handheld TV, looking up every few seconds lo-and behold--there he is walking out of the trees. This is especially true during the late pre-rut into the rut! good post Jim! thanks todd [ 04-26-2003, 08:48 PM: Message edited by: dogdoc ]

    Tip Of The Week

Re: Tip Of The Week good tip Jim! todd
  18. Jim, i am seeing the same thing and have been hunting this spot a lot. It seems every morning a gobbler shows up to the edge of the tree line---gobbles a few times and the hen goes running to him. I have not been able to get him to come out to me I keep thinking she will finally start setting on her nest exclusively and when the gobbler comes for her and she doesn't respond then he might be a little more vulnerable to my mediocre calling. todd
  19. hey jim, i got my joked pulled from the lounge and I don't think it was as disturbing as that! that's brutal---but is kind of funny! todd
  20. I just got finished planting about 15 persimmon trees on my land. I've got about 20 more growing in my sun room that I will transplant next year. I collect the seed in the fall, put it in the fridge for about 2 months and then plant in a styrofoam cup. They can produce fruit in about 5 years! good luck todd
  21. wtnhunt, yep deer can get internal paraseites just like other grazing animals. They rarely ever cause a problem in deer b/c they are free roaming. Where as cattle and sheep are usually in a confined area they are constantly reinfecting themselves--therefore they need to be on a deworming program. I imagine that deer that frequent pastures where other domisticated ruminants live they probably do have a few worms. But since they are free roaming they aren't constantly reinfecting themselves with the worms. hope this answers your question! todd
  22. Re: Nine Years Later... good job--hope the next one doesn't take as long!!! congrats! todd
  23. with all those girls (does) hangin' around I don't think you big boy will be going anywhere. Good luck and post us a pic when you get him. todd
  24. Re: How do you get up the tree? I use screw in steps for my hang on stands, but sometimes they can be a booger to get in that hard oak tree. But once they are in they are very stable. Just remember always wear a harness. A hunter lost his life after falling 20 feet while installing a hang on this year. His wife was below him and saw it all. What a tragedy that could have been prevented. good luck todd
