  1. Re: 300 Win Mag. or 300 WSM I think as far as recoil is concerned when he was talking less recoil what he wanted to say was. The powder is burned evenly throughout the chamber/barrel making the backward force (recoil) last longer but being less sharp. Kind of spreading it out over a period of time versus a majority of it all at once. Both have same recoil but one is spread out every so slightly in more time.
  2. Re: What is the best deer rifle? I would opt for a 270 or better yet 280. I hated my 30-.06 and have since sold it. Wasn't a very flat shooting gun. Read AJ's review of the 280. It is what I shoot and love it.
  3. Re: Sentimental Guns "What the gun looks like or is worth makes no difference. It's the story behind the gun that does." That may work in theory. If I had a choice of have a sentimental 65 corvette(wood stock) or a sentimental rusty pinto (plastic gun) I would choose the vette everytime. I would gurantee many a shotgunner rather have a grandfathers old belgium A5 then a mossberg.
  4. Re: Sentimental Guns You are right, wood doesn't make it sentimental but makes it beautiful and for sure adds to a sentimental piece. I have my grandfathers ithaca model 37 20 gauge and love the character that grouse gun has. Composite serves a purpose (I own a rifle and shotgun that are synthetic) which I like but it looks cheap.
  5. Re: Sentimental Guns Yes I hope it is a long ways off but being a father who loves his children we have a trust, living will, etc... and I am only 31
  6. Re: Sentimental Guns I talked to my dad who also said if my kids will inherit the guns and have sentimental value to them with it being my gun that wood is the way to go. Wood it is. Thanks guys!
  7. Re: Remington 7400 semi-auto synthetic 30/06 Gun oil makes a difference in autos. Rem oil is no good in cold weather. Jams are most likely a dirty rifle or a clip that is bent. I just sold my 7400 30-.06. I tried different ammo and never found it to be very accurate.
  8. Just thinking about buying a new gun and in the back of my mind I am thinking it will be a gun I will never get rid of. This said I have a son who will most likely get it someday. Here in lies the thing I need to sort through. If I was inheriting a gun I would want a wood stock because of the beauty/character. On the other hand I like the idea of laminate/composite stock so I don't worry about scratches, swelling in rain etc... Any ideas you can throw at me to get me to make up my mind would be helpful. How much wet weather does it take to screw up a stock? (not sure if mfg. have different quality finishes on the stocks but it will be a tikka)
  9. Re: Gone for a while Sorry to hear about your loss AJ.
  10. Re: I need help selecting a 12 gauge AJ, isn't there more of a difference in wingmaster and expresses then wood? I am pretty sure the moving parts are polished/honed a lot finer on the wingmaster then the express. Making it smoother cycling with less jams. I bought a 870 supermag express and sold it 3 months later.
  11. Re: I got my new Beretta !! If you have one of the better gunsmiths in your area he can bend the stock and fit it to you. I plan on taking mine to Hugh Lomas to get mine fitted. I love my Beretta Ultralight.
  12. Re: Will miss it Yes, make sure you are full recovered before attempting something that might hinder that process

    Road Trips

Re: Road Trips Cutting cost until fall then will get cable back. Looking forward to seeing the shows I missed, I am sure they will be aired again.
  18. Re: TR administrator (site search)HELP Well you have a head start on me, haven't found the last 3 yet.
  19. Re: This is sorry Hopefully she will always keep a place in her heart for him and not give up on him. A little bit later in life when he can make decisions and voice his opinion things could change. If he plays sports in a couple of years you can always go to his games which will show your support and love (his father can't do anything about you being at those)
  20. I knew the first couple but learned some new stuff. Kind of interesting
  21. Re: Favorite color......... I like blue on a woman and most of my suits are black and another color or two. I like black for me cause it seems like the biggest selection of guys suits have the base color be black and it looks nice. I like a woman in blue cause I like brunettes and think blue looks nice on them.
  22. Re: Hey Norm and anyone else interested Yes, seek the max penalty on both! Birds of a feather flock together
