  9. thanks to all for looking at the pic's...yes we all had a ans have a blast every year....this is really a hard hunt because the deer seem to always come in from the wrong direction...it's hard to turn around on a 4 wheeler or to turn a wheelchair around in time to take a shot...but it is a blast...we took 29 deer this season... so it was a great season eventho the temps we in the high 70's the later part of the week...thanks again and God Bless...

  12. looking at all the hunt stories (which i really enjoy reading) on here it seems as if we all had a good deer season. We all have been blessed, and congrats to you all....
  13. well folks here's a play by play of the hunt..... monday morning....got to the stand site at around 5:45... ask the team leader which way i should watch the area from as i haven't hunted the stand site in over 7 years... he told me the most of the deer come over the river's bank into the area...well i'm sitting there waiting and watching the area to the south and a deer snorted to the north behind me... i glance around but see nothing as the visibility was only about 25 yards in the pre-dawn darkness...i never thought about turning my 4 wheeler around in the blind(we hunt off the 4 wheelers) so i'm sitting there still watching for the slightest movement and i felt like something was watching me from behind...i glanse over my shoulder and what do i see not o'le roudolf but a super wide long tine buck standind broadside at 60 yards....well i have to slide around on the 4 weeler and down the side so i can rest on the rack for a steady shot...i start for the trigger and the deer took and steeped behind a big oak tree...the next time i spotted him he was out about 80 yards quarting away from me ...i set my crosshairs just behind the last rib and held off on the shot as there was only about 4 inches to get the shot thru and not wanting to gut shoot the deer ....he walked on thru the woods...30 minutes later i see legs coming thru the thicket and out runs a nice 6 point but no shot was offered....that was all me sightings until around 3:00 that evening when another person on the next stand shoots then a blur out in front of me at 60 yards...(it was a doe.)..but still no shot...there was shooting all around me....that was it for day one... tuesday.... hunted the same stand site in hopes of seeing the big buck from the day before but nothing all day.. wed... went to another stand that got open and saw 2 does at about 8:00 in the morning but as i was trying to settle the crosshairs a shot rang out and off they go....day three a bust.... thursday....didn't go out that morning as i had to shower and shave and yes that to... .... norm pulled in at around 2:00 and we get him ready to go hunting.....we got to the stands at around 3:00 but we saw nothing.... thursday...we go out to the stands and the temps sky rocketed into the 70's...off course the deer did no move ..... friday... got to the stand before daylight with light rains...only a few folks went out....just before dayliught i see 3 images go by at 15 yards....i think man this is going to be a good day.... i sat there until around 8:30 when out of the thick stuff walks a doe...se was only about 35 yards and looks right at me ...i think oh no busted...so i humbled myself before the Lord and ask Him to let me get the shot and for it to be a good one...well the doe is steadly looking my way then steps behind a cluster of bushes which gave me a chance to steady my mz loader ...well the vitals were covered by the bushes so i held in the opening in front of the deer hopeing she would take another step...well she did and boom...see takes off like she had not been hit...i watched her and she ran behind a big oak but i did see enough of her that i saw her bounce off a tree and fall...at 11:00 the team leader came out to get us in for lunch and i teel hime where to look...he looks but no blood so i tell him to look behind the big oaks out at 60 yards and from there around 30 yards...he went to the area and finds the doe ...ALL RIGHT GOT ONE....when he got back to me he said there was no blood at all but it was a great hit...right in the shoulder pocket thru the heart but no pass thru...and if i had not watched the deer he might not have been able to find her....i saw 4 more doe that day but i could only take a buck....wouldn't you know it... . later that evening we talked norm into going to the wood instead of going home as his pain level was trying to reach it's highest.... he put on another pain ppatch and went on to the woods and took a 6 point but that's his story.... saturdy...well this day is the last roundup and it was hot ...74 at 4:in the morning and only 4 people go out ...yes i was one of them...all i did is fight skeeters and wasp's all morning...and no deer were taken all day.... the fist 3 days of the hunt there were 26 deer taken the biggest being a big wide 10 point a big nine, several 4 's and 6's and does....the last 3 days there were only 3 deer taken my doe ,norm's 6 point and a narley spike which they called a managment buck...so i got a trophy for the biggest doe taken on the last part and norm got a trophy for the biggest buck...will have pic's posted as soon as i get them back and there will be plenty of them so bruce i will holler at you bud to help me set up the pic's link...it was a great week with all having a great ime of laughter, jokes and just fellowship.....hope you all enjoy the hunt as much as i did even tho the weather was bad for hunting .... --------------------
