Re: How much weight john i broke my neck 14 years ago...thought my bow hunting was over...thanks to the folks on this site and other sites i review they got my thinking i could still hunt with bow...i went and found me a 40 # draw pierson flame at the local pawn shop bought it for 15 bucks and have hunted the past 5 seasons with it ...i can draw it back with ease and it shoots great....i limit my shots to 25 yards and i have taken deer every season with it and had some pass thru's...this season i took a little drop tine buck with it @ 33 yards...of corse it wass a spine shot which dropped the buck but the finishing backup shot was @38 yards and right in the boiler room for a quick demise...if i were you i would not go over 50 #with the back prob's..but start out slowly and build those muscles .....best of luck with your choice's and season...i to have a x-bow but don't really like them...

Re: how long was your shortest hunt? back in 1987 went on an evening hunt...got out of my truck loaded my rifle took about 10 steps looked up and a buck was dogging a doe right my way ....they passed within 10 yards ...i put my sighs on him pulled the trigger hit him in the back and down he went...so i'd say maybe 3-5 minutes...

Re: AHHH.....need advice!!!!!!!!!! i agree with bot of the repiles....i have a similar 18 acre parcel i'm hunting on.... i actually hunt where i see the less sign....the deer come on this place from the ajoining property....my grandson and i have taken 7 deer from the property this season....but im only hunting we're only covering about 3 acres of the place all the rest is open field....best of luck to you ...

Re: which would you have done? you did the right thing...i'm with will and steve on this.... i have finished off deer for others before...i don't want to claim a deer that someone else shot...and i once shot a 8 point that ran by a young hunter...i was shooting a 243 and he a 20 guage...he pulled up and shot and the deer fell in front of him but never hit the deer ...but he thought he did and i couldn't spoil his enjoyment....hids dad later called me and offered to buy my next years deer tag for letting his son take the deer and getting him into hunting even more ...i told him no thanks i got a bigger kick out of the childs reaction than taking the buck....
