  1. Guessing you hit a little farther forward then you think. Scapula or brisket. Depending on how far you got through the scap you would have got lungs. A brisket shot will probably not be fatal. Been there, done that, heard the "roar". Not a good feeling not recovering a deer.
  2. Well..passed some easy points for us tonight. Not gonna pull the trigger on a small buck this early yet though. If it was doe, i would have had 5 points for the team no name.
  3. My bro shot a doe early this morning. so I barely got to sit this morning. Saw nothing this afternoon. Landowner and his friend both stuck a deer right at dark, I'm just in from tracking, and taking care of those 2 deer. I'll be back out Sat. morning.
  4. It's 12:30 am. My alarm is set for 4 am. I will be waking up for our archery opener. I just spent the last hour and a half getting 3 live baby squirrels out of the engine compartment of my truck, which has been sitting for the past couple months. Jen was on the phone with the state animal rescue people and they think they are old enough to survive on their own. I took the nest, and the 3 live squirrels, 2 were dead, and put them in a cat carrier with the door open, at the edge ofthe woods like the animal rescue people suggested. Now, what really has me wondering, is this....I went through all this trouble tonight, but tomorrow morning, I will be hoping to kill a deer. It kinda doesn't make sense. I will have no problem killing a deer tomorrow, but was almost in tears tonight about the squirrels. Hmmmmmmm
  5. Going to load my truck now for the mornings opener. Not really sure what to expect, but any doe that gives me a shot is going down. Wish me luck guys, and thanks for letting me join your team!
  6. I may have to register 3 deer to do that!!!
  7. Hope you have a happy Birthday brother-Dan!!!! Shooting Northern Dutchess tomorrow???
  8. Thanks Gary...nothing like putting pressure on the new guy!!! :hammer1:
  9. If me being substituted for GW is a problem with anyone on the team, or in the contest, I will decline the offer. I made this clear to TexasTrophies when he pm'ed me to ask me if I would accept Gary's spot. I have been in the contest every years since its inception. I missed sign up do to working 2 jobs, and not having the free time to spend online that I normally have. This will not stop me from hunting. I currently have 15 stands up. and at leastthat many spots scouted to use my climber. I can't gaurantee a buck for the team, but I do take a deer 9 years out of 10. If not with the bow, with the rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader. Like I said, if it is a problem in any way, I won't accept the offer. Talk about it with other team members, and decide amongst yourself. Thanks, John Nimons aka Tedicast
  10. Happy Birthday Gary!!! Hope you had a great day!
  11. My thoughs exactly as I was looking at the picture!!! Good luck!!
  12. only 10 more days for us in CT!!!
  13. Working 2 jobs, and add to that my duties as 3D captain at my Archery club, has been running me pretty ragged lately.
  14. Holy cow...how did I miss that!!! This will be the first year since I've been a member, that I won't be in the contest!!!
  15. RangerClay...what model Mathews is the bow you are shooting???
  16. his has already been posted. Seems like I'm always behind lately!!!
  17. He is still no where as bad as Kyle Busch. Heard his interview on Sirius today, and just wanted to slap him!!!
  18. In my opinion, the AlphaMax 35 is the cream of the crop for 2009. I've shot most of the new bows, and I don't think there is one that holds a candle to the AM35. And yes, this is from a Mathews shooter. That being said, the only person that can decide on which bow is best for you is YOU. Go out and shoot some bows, amd base your decision on that.
  19. A bunch of guys in my club bought Monsters. Every one of them is now shooting something else. Most either Reezen 6.5's, or Alpha Max 35's. I shot the Monster and hated it. Definitely not the bow for me. Speed isn't everything. I'll take shootability over speed every time.
  20. My advice is to one, check feedback, like everyone else has mentioned. My other advice is to pm the seller, and ask for his phone #. Any seller who is legit won't hesitate to speak to you, one on one. Close the deal over the phone. That way you will get your questions answered, and have a much better feel for who you are dealing with.
  21. Lancaster Archery!!! They might not always be the rock bottom in price, buttheir selection, especially target arrows, is incredible. Their customer service can't be beat. A couple weeks ago I was placing an order online. They had all Gold Tip shafts 10% off. I ordered 2 dozen of my wifes 3D arrows. My computer kept acting up, but I finally got the order through. next morning at 9am I get a call from Lancastyer on my cell. Seems they has 6 orders not one. And they admitted it was their server, not my computer. I know for a fact other places would have just shipped. I've gotten double orders before. There have been other times when Lancaster would call to tell me a part of my order was out of stock, and offer a replacement, or to just keep it on order. I have gotten shipments from others archery store, and not found out an item backordered untill the order arrived.
  22. I'm on the ground...no cover...if i'm going to my stand, I'm wearing a backpack. I hate the deers body language. I would be at full draw, but probably not shooting unless something favorable happened.
  23. 16 yards.... holding my 20 pin dead on between the secong and third yellow from the top! Should be a short blood trail.
  24. I'm at full draw, but gonna let her get a little farther away to lessen the angle a bit.
  25. Normally I pass this shot, on distance...the angle is doable for me, barely. If I'm in Colorado, and I'm hunting Muley, I'm gonna be well practiced out to 50 yards. My 50 pin is gonna be in the area of the green dots, 2nd, and 3rd from the top. Really gonna hate myself if I make a bad shot.
