It just isn't fair to do that to me!

I heard him on the radio the other day and he said that the legislators didn't know who they were dealing with. He would get his way or else. Problem is that a bugdet could have been signed last week and he refused, sending it back for more of his pet projects (read taxes adn dfees). Passed last night so workers go back to work today with only one day of furlough. Not fair to them though.

In the cities the voice commands are usually around 400 ft before a turn. On interstate highways about four tenths of a mile.
-
Like I said, I have the Garmin 478 - it has accurate and timely turn by turn voice commands but is more than you said you wanted to spend because of the marine charting feature. The streets portion will be the same. Go to a retailer and check them out. Either the Lowrance I-Way or Garmin StreePilot will do a great job for what you are asking. They both have auto mounts - like with suction cups.

Garmin Street Pilot - see link http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/135398/rpem/ccd/jsp/pdt/pricePopup.jsp

My grandson didn't say his first word until he was three. He'll be eight next month and he hasn't shut up since.

My son won a couple of awards for the whitetail he entered in the Eastern Regional Competition at the MD Taxidermist's Association convention last month. One award was sponsored by the MTA and was for the best whitetail shoulder mount in the professional division. The other was from MD QDMA and was for the best open mouth whitetail entered.

Check with MT FWP for the block management program. The other alternative is CMR - Charles M Russell National Wildlife Refuge. It's huge with lots of deer. Look them up on the web.

I got a Garmin 478. It's got all north american streets in automotive mode and all coastal waters in marine mode with turn by turn guidance in highway mode. I must say that none of the units will be 100% accurate. Either maps need to be updated, or places that look like intersections on maps really are not. I paid $720 for the unit I bought though. Garmin, Lowrance have streets only units and I don't think you could go wrong with either. Go to a retailer and look at features. Check them out and buy what best suits you.

I have a hand held unit and it works well - when the winds are calm. If it's breezy, you have to pray for high enough winds that the flying critters cant' get clearance for takeoff.

Your question implies that all a landowner has to do is plant a food plot and then wait for a monster buck to show up. It doesn't work that way.

I,ve got a versapod. Last trip to Montana my son forgot his Harris. It was pretty easy to switch back and forth between rifles with the versapod. Plus it swivels as said above. Plus it's a little less bulky than a Harris. Look them all over and see which you like best.

I will probably get Lowe's gift cards so I can replenish the supplies that my kids and their families pilfer.

Re: What\'s the biggest fish you\'ve ever caught??? Caught a big sow striper a couple of years ago in Chesapeake Bay. She broke a 40 lb scale.

Re: Sorry Doc (Cholesterol) Went from 260 to 183 (total cholesterol) in two months last fall. Cut out eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, etc. Went back to walking two miles before work each morning. It worked! My wife told me that if I put something in my mouth that tasted good I should spit it out!!!!!!

Re: Fiberglass Toppers/truck caps? Mine's a Leer that I bought new in 1997 for my F-250 with 6-1/2' bed. Has two slider windows on the side and one at the front next to the slider in the truck cab. It has two racks mounted to the roof for hanging fishing rods. Painted to match the truck, it cost me $1000 new - but that was 10 years ago. Don't know what they are now.

Re: Appropriate High Fence Thread!!!! My son is a taxidermist and he wanted to collect a specimen for his showroom. He decided he wanted a Corsican Ram and he surfed the net looking for a hide and horns that he could use for a lifesize mount. What he found was some incredibly high priced items for sale. He also found a "ranch" about an hour's drive away at which he could shoot his specimen for about half of what he would pay for the hide and horns. I went along to help him bring his stuff home and get it into his workshop. He shot the ram in a 250 acre enclosure. Was it "hunting"? NO. Was it "unethical"? Again NO. He bought a specimen and the rules of the seller were that he had to shoot it. Of course he will not be bragging to anyone about the incredibly difficult "hunt" he had - he's just displaying the animal as an example of his work.

Re: SPeakers for Sportsmen\'s DInner Dick Bernier puts on a good presentation. Saw him this winter at a local church sportsman's dinner. Real entertaining.

Re: PA hunters...thoughts.... Been hunting from "can see to can't see" anyway.

Re: Nosler Accubond In October 2005 I shot a mule deer buck (110 yards), antelope buck (200 yards) and antelope doe (200 yards) with 110 gr accubonds. My 25-06 is real accurate with these bullets. Three one shot kills. Then in December 2005 (40 yards) and again in December 2006 (140 yards) I shot whitetail bucks with the same bullets - again one shot kills - all with pass thrus.

Re: Pennsylvania Deer Population Life, Good point about buying a tag and not using it. I didn't get out for archery again this season. I intended to use my doe tag for early muzzleloader, but didn't get out for that season either. Concentrated on AR legal buck during rifle, finally got one the last day. I then was using my flintlock in an attempt to fill the tag - saw plenty of deer when I was out but haven't had a shot opportunity yet. I'll try again on Friday afternoon, but have to work on Saturday, so my tag will probably go unfilled even though I am attempting to use it.

Re: 900 Club Holy Cow. I've been hunting 43 years and have killed probably 40 buck deer. You could probably add them all up and not reach 900" of head bone.

Re: Pennsylvania Deer Population My first deer season in Fulton County was 1964. Didn't see a deer all season. Shot my first buck when I was 16 in 1965. I didn't see another buck deer until 1972. Spent the major part of the seasons between 1965 and 1972 seeing just a couple of deer per season. Now I see deer nearly every time out. Saw 6 last Saturday on a short walk on the ridge across the road from the house. I was only out about 2 hours. In my part of PA these are the "Good Old Days".
