Re: pics of new gear for next season Between three of us we have 100 Big Feet. It makes for an awesome spread and nothing holds up to abuse like a Foot, but we needed a different look. Also, I wanted a small flock I could take on solo hunts. The GHG lessers fit the bill nicely. I got the bags for them and the whole works. Just throw them in the back of the truck and go. Besides, this dozen now puts us over 10 dozen full bodies. A kind of silly goal, but if nothing else we will impress ourselves when we set everything out.

Re: pics of new gear for next season Here are 2 dozen GHG lessers I just bought to add to the Big Foot spread. The movement is sweet and the photo does not do them justice.

Re: pics of new gear for next season Nice F.A.'s Did you see the deal that Roger's has on those things? $180/dozen is a STEAL. F.A. has a completely new decoy line coming out for 2007. I've seen photos of the prototypes. They look sweet.

Re: We all must be bored [ QUOTE ] I know what you mean Derek. I just bought a bunch of Drake Waterfowl stuff on closeout at Wing Supply. [/ QUOTE ] Drake is simply the best! I've worn nothing but Drake gear for ALL of my hunting for the past two years. I have about one of everything that they made back when they still had Natural Gear as one of their patterns. Great stuff! I saw Wing Supply's deals on the Drake stuff. Good prices for sure. I've spent my limit this past month on decoys, blinds, bags, calls, among other things.

Re: We all must be bored Massive boredom has set in here. I've resorted to selling off a lot of my "old" waterfowl stuff to take advantage of all the after season close out deals out there. It is getting expensive real fast! Virtually all new equipment for next September! Can't wait for it to get here.

I've got 2 BRAND STINKING NEW decoy bags I'm looking to unload. I bought both from Cabela's and don't feel like dealing with their return department. Absolutely nothing wrong with either bag. Paypal is preferred. M.O.'s also acceptable. Avery 12 slot FULL BODY duck bag. I bought it about two weeks ago for my lessers and decided I want the 6 slot lesser bags instead. I've taken it out of the bag, put my dekes in it one time, and it is back in the original bag ready to ship. Here is a photo of the bag the one time I put my lesser in it. Of course the lessers are NOT included. Avery Bag $42.00 TYD, lower 48 Final Approach Wide Mouth bag. I got two of these for Christmas and only need one. They are AWESOME bags. This one has the tags still on it. F.A. Bag $42 TYD, lower 48

Re: NYS RECORD GOOSE? [ QUOTE ] lol--i love that contest. Shut up all those guys braggin' about shooting 16+ pound geese. [/ QUOTE ] Yea it is amazing how many giant geese there are out there until the money is on the line and funny how no one can produce one. I have killed a bunch of geese over the years and I thought I had dropped the holly grail of geese this year when I shot my biggest. I couldn't believe it when the scale read 13.5 pounds. I thought for sure those DropZones were mine when I first picked him up. It takes A LOT of goose to get to 16 or more pounds ... if it is even possible.
-
Re: NYS RECORD GOOSE? Big geese rumors are a dime a dozen. Not doubting you shot a 14 pounder, but they rarely come much bigger then that. Don't believe me? Go over to the refuge forums for a look. There used to be all these ridiculous claims of 18#, 20#, and larger geese. Well for three years now, the owner of DropZone decoys has offered up 1 dozen full bodies to the person who can produce a legitimate monster goose. Two years ago it was an 18 pounder, last year a 17 pounder, this year 16 pounder. No one has yet to claim the dekes. Next year it will go to 15 pounds and maybe ... just maybe ... a dozen decoys will go out. Goose has to be weighed on a certified scale. I seriously doubt you'll see a 20# wild goose. Maybe a farm fed pet goose, but not a true Canada honker. I shot a 13.5 pounder this year that was a horse of a goose. I can't imagine what a 20 pounder would be like, if it were possible to exist.

Re: anyone here use a db matrix I have one and love it. I've had a couple BS-5 blinds and now the Matrix. All are great blinds. I always set it and hunt it the same day. After having one blind stolen, I don't leave a blind out anymore. I brush it in for deer. I don't for turkeys. One cool thing about the Matrix is with all the extra cords, they act as stubble straps, so brushing them in is easy. Only takes a couple minutes to do and the cords hold the brushing in very well. Here is a picture of mine in a youth hunt with my daughter.

Re: Goose calling tips Pick up a copy of Bad Grammer. Hands down the best instructional CD out there. Scott breaks each call down for you. It is 2 CD set and it is awesome for either a beginner or an experienced caller. I have it in my CD player in my truck at all times and am continually using it to keep my calling sharp. Goose calling is like a musical instrument. If you don't practice you will stink at it. I highly recommend buying Bad Grammer. Here is a link. Free shipping from this guy. I've bought a bunch of stuff from him the past couple years. Bad Grammer @ Tim's

Re: layout blinds Buy them. Final Approach and Avery are the leaders in the industry. There are other brands as well, but these are the two big ones. You can buy them from places like Cabela's, Mack's, Bass Pro, and many others. Final Approach Avery

Re: layout blinds [ QUOTE ] If there in that picture, Derek,I sure can't see um! Nice pics. [/ QUOTE ] They are there, trust me. The geese couldn't see them either!

Re: layout blinds You almost can't see the blind in this close up picture with the pile of birds on it. Good luck finding the two layout blinds in this photo. They are there, right in front of you.

Re: Leupold Vs. Nikon binoculars If you can, look through them both and decide. I have the ATB Monarchs in an 8x42 and love them. I've had them for 3 years now. Not sure if the Cascades were available then. All I know is that I bought mine at the Cabela's store in Dundee. At the time the Nikons were the clearest sub $300 glass that they had. $300 was the cap I put on myself to spend. I've not been disappointed with them. I like the 8x better then 10x where I hunt. I mostly bow hunt in Indiana farm ground, so 10x was not important to me. I can't hold a 10x steady, so I get a much better picture with an 8x.

Re: THE BEST BROADHEAD NOTHING good can come out of a thread like this ... NOTHING. There is no "best" anything. It is a Chevy/Ford/Dodge debate. That garbage got old a long time ago on here. Most products out there work great most of the time. Any product will fail in the wrong situation or some times on a fluke. I know someone who shot the head you are raving about only to have it fail miserably, and YES he has the bow to do it, and he actually owns the largest bow shop in NE Indiana. He knows his stuff. But in the defense of your prized head ... they are capable of working quite well. There are MANY good heads out there that work fine. The BEST head is one that flies true from your setup, is razor sharp, and holds up to do its job. That is the BEST broad head. Let's drop the Chevy/Ford/Dodge debate.

Re: The Lucky #13 Oh the does keep a dropping. I shot a pig of a doe Friday night with my bow. Still searching for the buck of my dreams.
-
Re: The Lucky #13 DEC I don't post much over there, but like to wade through the bull. There is good info over there, if you can get past the bickering.
-
Re: The Lucky #13 Congrats guys. Lil, I saw your post over at the Refuge, congrats. Too bad others had to use your thread to wage a war against each other. I shot another doe this weekend. Makes 3 for the year. No antlers that I want to shoot yet, but I'm doing my QDM part on the does.
-
Re: The Lucky #13 How's it going team. Big bucks have become scarce here since the gun season opened. I shot another doe the other day, but I've not seen a good buck in two weeks. Lots of little ones. Still holding out for a big one and I won't compromise. How's everyone else doing?
-
Re: The Lucky #13 I guided a buddy to a good one. I really did not hunt that much. I'm in kind of a state of depression now that it is gun season. I just enjoy bow season. I'm out to get my daughter on a deer now. I'll start hunting for myself again in a few days.
