4 out of 5 get returned. Or so I've read somewhere. I've never owned one, but everything I've read says the Leaf River 35 mm is the one to get. As I recall they are very reasonably priced. I own the Leaf River digital and no regrets.

Re: Where did my mouse pic go? They've been moving pictures around on me too. Basically, anything I posted in the Member Gallary, they've moved to a particular species catagory. I don't see a mouse catagory. Might look for small game or exotics. Great kill though. I would not mount him yet. I'd hold out for another one and then do a double full body mount. Get them in a fight pose.

Re: Camo I've converted most my camo gear over to Naturalgear. I just need to get some heavy bibs and parka in it and I'll be 99% Naturalgear. I've got nothing against any of the other camos, but Naturalgear just melts you into the background. I was hunting with a buddy this year. He was in a tree not 40 yards from me wearing Naturalgear. I could barely find him while looking through my binos.

Re: Buck of a lifetime for me in Kansas An amazing animal! Congrats!

Re: Primos Bow Vest... I bought one in late September. All I can say after using it on every hunt now for two months (including muzzleloader hunts) is .............. AWESOME! It takes a little getting used to the feeling like you are being hugged all the time, but once you get past that it is an amazing accessory. I've totally eliminated any sort of fanny pack or back pack. The pockets are well thought out (though I've got to admit one larger one on the outside would be nice). One of the features I really like is the way it is cut on the chest. I use a bino system and with the way the chest is cut, I can easily slide the binos in and out of the vest. I like to keep them tucked away while walking or climbing into the tree. My only complaint is the one choice in camo. I don't have anything against Mossy Oak. But other choices such as Real Tree or Advantage Timber would be cool. Now if they made that vest in Natural Gear, it would absolutely PERFECT!

Re: Is \"Heart Attack\" still out there? Pic I seem to recall that he was "off limits" to all hunters. Yes he was on the Tecomate Ranch. I think that I read that they found him dead of old age two or three years after those photos.

Re: Before and After Photos! [ QUOTE ] i don't now about you but i think he looks better on the ground. [/ QUOTE ] I think he'll look best on my wall! I'm going to see if I can't get a taxidermist to rebuild the broken brow tine since I have the before pictures of it. He looks a lot bigger than what he measures out. I green scored him tonight and with adding in an estimate for the brow tine, he's right at 130" gross. Not as big as I'd thought, but still pretty awesome. Hoosierhunter ... you have a PM. Thanks for all the congrats guys!

Re: bobble head buck Like Mike ... I want to be like Mike. Oh wait, that was an old Gatoraid commercial.

Update! Indiana Stud 9 Pointer Got him baby! He'd lost a brow tine in the past two weeks.

This is the 9 pointer I got on my trail camera exactly 2 weeks ago. And here he is tonight with my hands on his antlers (minus the brow tine he broke off in the past two weeks). Saturday evening he was chasing does everywhere. I had him at around 100 yards, but he was coming right to me after three does. The does started fighting and next thing I knew deer were running everywhere, so needless to say, I never got a shot at this buck. I went out tonight not expecting to see him. At about 4:30 pm, I saw him chase two does out of the woods about 200 yards in front of me. They all disappeared and reappeared many times. Finally, he chased some does about 200 yards to the south, then turned around and chased another doe 200 yards in front of me and probably ran her 100 yards north of me. Then the doe turned and started angling across the field in front of me. The doe stopped at 80 yards in front of me and the buck worked up next to her, probably 10 yards further back in the field. With 10 minutes of legal hunting time, I settled the crosshairs on him and let the smoke pole bark. When the smoke cleared, the doe was still standing there, but my buck was no where to be seen. I got down and went to the truck to get a light. I found my deer just over a rise in the field. He had not gone 50 yards. Perfect double lung at around 90 yards. This is my first buck ever with my muzzleloader. Since I only gun hunt a couple days a year and the fact I got this buck on camera too, makes him extra special. Guess there will have to be another taxidermy bill!

Last week my Grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer and given only months to live. Today, he was rushed to the hospital and put on a breathing machine and morphine for the pain. The doctors are not giving him much of a chance to make it through the night and say he may slip away from us yet today. This is hard. He is the one family member that I have always adored and idolized. If you could, please say a small prayer for my grandfather, Sam Craig, and my family. Thanks in advance for your prayers and thoughts.

Re: *EMERGENCY* help me out! I'd say that either your peep has slipped, or your serving is loose and siding around. I had to have my string reserved mid summer. I had no clue it was that bad. I noticed over the course of a week that my shots were climbing and climbing. I kept adjusting my sight to accomodate it, until I ran out of sight adjustment. I had my local pro shop owner look at it and he knew right away what my problem was. My serving was slipping on the string. He reserved it, we paper tuned it, and I was back in business. I'd say get it looked at ASAP. Original string servings stink. I read an article once about strings and the author said the first thing he does after he gets a new string brokent in, is to strip the serving off and reserve it extremely tight.

Re: Extra Load Carriers I use loose powder. I pre-measure charges into old 35mm film canisters. I just throw three or four into my coat pocket and go. I usually throw a few bullets in the same pocket as well. Works good and is simple.

Re: Whisker Biscuit? [ QUOTE ] There are two types of whisker bicuits! The one that has the black lower section is for carbon arrows only and the all black is for aluminum arrows. [/ QUOTE ] Not really. The all black ones are the original Quick Shots. The brown/black ones are the newer B2. The difference between aluminum and carbon are the size of hole. The aluminum has a larger hole. That is the only difference in the rests. Be sure to get the correct one for your type of arrows.

I'd take him up on the Leaf River, assuming it is the one with the LCD screen. The 256 Mb card and Python cable make that a reasonable deal (no steal, but still $30 to $35 cheaper than if you order the camera from Cabela's and then pick up the card and cable.) I've got the new Leaf River and love it. There are a couple others on here that have it as well. Excellent cameras. They are getting great reviews at other sites as well. The quality is first rate, the customer service is great (from what I've heard), and the battery life is amazing. Mine has been in the woods for 6 weeks now and shows full batteries. It has taken well over 100 pictures, most using the flash. Look at my post "Indiana Stud 9 Pointer" from a week or so ago to see the picture quality. I'd recommend picking up a second memory card that way you can just swap cards in the field. Then get a card reader for your home computer.

Re: cuddeback vs leaf river All I can say is I have the new Leaf River with LCD ($349 at Cabela's) and it is awesome. If you go to the photo forum, you will find a little more info if you run a search on both. Also check out Jesse's . Their site seems to be the best source for game camera info. The Leaf River is getting all the rave reviews right now. I've heard good things about the Cuddeback too.

Re: Whisker Biscuit? I've had an almost 3 year love affair with mine. Best thing ever.

Re: Stolen \"Buddy\" stand %*$#@ Been there. It sucks. There is nothing like seeing your hard earned money gone. I'm still pissed about having my Double Bull blind stolen last spring. Hope they find the scums that took the stand. I'd bust them for stealing and topping out the tree.

Re: Waders I'm on my second pair of Cabela's waders. My first pair were the 5mm neoprene ones. They were great, but after 6 or 7 years, they needed replaced. (I'm tough on them) This time I got the Cabela's 5mm neoprene w/ the cordura outside and 1600 gr boots. Man are these things nice. I have a buddy that has Lacross and another that has Hodgman. Both love them. I don't think you could go wrong with the major names or even the Cabela's or Bass Pro brands. I like the Cordura (some call it Armorflex) on the outside over the neoprene. It resists damage much better than the plain neoprene exterior.

Re: Need grunt call I use the Primos Hardwoods Grunter. I don't see this grunt call in too many stores, so it might be tough to find. I think the hardwood construction gives it a much richer sound than the plastic calls. The sounds can be chaned through an O-ring and the tone is easily changed by adjusting the flexible end.

We picked up our new family addition Friday night. She comes from a long line of excellent hunters down both sides. We got pick of the litter. I lost the name battle. My girls named her Sunshine. I call her Sunny. Now the work begins.

Checked my camera yesterday morning. Had several new picures of various deer. But this one was pretty good, so I thought I'd post it. I've got several pictures of this deer from various days. He's a 7 pointer. He'll be good in a year or two.
