  1. We are using an Undertaker choke in my son's 870 20ga. shooting Hevi Shot's Hevi 13 #6s. His patterns are very tight out to 30 yards and by watching our back stop, are delivering as much energy as my 12ga. You should try the Hevi 13 #6s. You get more pellet count and they hit just as hard if not harder as the #5 lead. We are getting right around 27 pellets in the head and neck at 30yrds. And the Red Dot scope helped alot to focus the densest part of the patern.
  2. Cole is useing an Undertaker choke. It will shoot lead or Hevi Shot.
  3. Man I think I'm gonna love this scope on our guns. Our shooting improved by 100%. Cole is getting about 50 pellets in the head and neck shooting 3 inch Heavy 13 #6s in his Rem. 870 express 20ga. at 30 yrds. And I'm getting around 30 at 40 yrds shooting my standby loads, 12ga. 3 inch Rem. 4x6 duplex magnum turkey. I planned on going to the Rem. Wingmaster HD in #6s but everyone was sold out.
  4. Well I know it was easy for most of ya but it's taken me a while to grown my headgear. I'm finally one of the "BIG BOYS"
  5. We've been seeing quite a few around the home place here lately also. Still bunched up though.
  6. Hopefully atleast 2, home in Oklahoma and Kansas.
  7. Our season starts April 6th. I will be hunting opening day which is on Sun. this year and the day after. Then every weekend and Fridays that I have off. We are also going to try to get up to Kansas this year. Good luck everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I'm here !!!!!! Sorry I haven't checked in sooner, the familly and I have had the flue for the last week and 1/2. We had planned on scouting and sighting in our shotguns last week but was unable. We will get it done this weekend even if we have to do it in the barn. We have some pretty good places to hunt so hopefully a good bird will come in close, although the boy gets first shot !!!!!! Snood Smashers sounds good.
  9. I took my beggest tom with my both. It's deffinately more chalengeing. Best to use a portable blind of some sort or make sure your hidden and blended very well or they will bust you before you can to full draw.
  10. 3 toms in the spring and 1 either sex in the fall archery.
  11. Definately Benelli. Most likely the most $$$$$$ ones.
  12. I think better sights will help alot. Just looks like your not level down the barrel causeing you to shoot high. As for the chokes, it looks like the undertaker is a bit more centered.
  13. Good deal !!!!!!!!! Good Luck !!!!!!!
  14. I'd have to go with my HOOKS mouth calls and second Primos freak. Never leave home without either one!!!!!!!!!
  15. That link didn't work KS. I've been on the sight. I was just unsure because they call it a "turkey license" instead of a "hunting license". In OK we have a "hunting license" and "turkey tags".

    B- Mobile

I think the I'll be getting a B-Mobile this year. They look great and the tom decoy seems to draw the hens in with that Ol' tom in tow. I used a Montana strutting tom decoy 2 years ago and had multiple hens come to it but the toms stayed back out of range, I think it was to big. I have a jake fan I got this fall that I will be using on my B-mobile. Hopefully they will challenge him better.
  17. I chose the red dot for my son and I for 2 main reasons,(1) you can see the whole target (turkey) and not just what is above your gun barrell and (2) my pattern density is just off center to the right, and I can get a much better pin point aim with a scope. And what them other guys said too !!!!!!!
  18. Well the BSA Reddot scopes I ordered for our shotguns came in Friday. Unfortunately it rained all weekend and we were unable to get them out and sight them in. They are mounted and ready to go !!!!!!!!! I really think this will help both of us with our pinpoint aiming, especially at close range. The densest part of my pattern is just slightly to the right at 30yrds, it will be a big confident lifter knowing I won't have to guess at the compensation for that anymore !!!! It will help Cole alot too. We tried the fiber optic clip-on sights for him but they covered to much of the target (turkey head) for him to shoot acurately and consistant. Now for season to open and get on some birds !!!!!!!! COME ON APRIL 6th !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. When you by a turkey license, is that your hunting license and tag together and then you can buy additional tags too?
  20. Well I frist tried the website and thier lincences and tags are confuseing not to mention the maps. So I e-mailed the Kansas game and fish and they are going to send me the turkey regs and walk in area atlas.
  21. I am thinking about taking my son up to Kansas for either early season or late season. I live in Northeastern Oklahoma. Was just wondering if anyone who lives or hunts Kansas would know of some decent public land, maybe 1-2 hours from the southeastern Kansas line. Say, maybe anywhere southeast of I-35.
  22. Well I decided to give the Red Dots a try. I ordered 2 BSA Reddots from Natchez for $19.95 a piece. And bought B-Square mounts for my 870 12ga. and my son's 870 20ga. And as someone stated, I can still see my sights to an extent. Thanks for all the input guys, it's really appreciated !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. When do we usually start sighnups for the turkey hunting contest ??????
