Re: What would you do??(hypothetical) I would be irritated too no, doubt about it, but on public land you have little recoarse other then to let him know your not happy about him moving in on your set ups. Taking someone to a good spot as a favor and then be taken advantage of is not a good thing public land or not. Unfortunately you dont have much you can do since he has every right to be there as you. Just sucks you did all the homework and he gets to reap the benifits. Once done though, and assuming your not wanting this to ruin a friendship, all you can do is try to arrange hunts together where you both share the spot/spots. JMO

Re: Scent-lok or Scent-luck? I basically had this same senerio yesterday afternoon. But WITHOUT the scent lok clothing. I hung a new stand yesterday morning and got out quick. I planned to sit there that afternoon. 3pm had 63* F and a decent SW breeze. I get in the stand, and was sweating already so I too tried to dry out. Looking around while drying out I see I naturally have limbs and twiggs everywhere I could possible shoot. Frustrated and still sweaty, I climb down and snap as many off as I can by hand on the climb down (forgot the saw). Once on the ground I went out into the field to put out some yardage markers. There were 15 bedding marks in the grass right in front of the stand and the stand was in a huge oak that was bombing me with acorns. Tracks and deer pellets everywhere. I get back up and tried once again to dry out but by now I was soaked sweaty; shirt, pants, cap, etc... I had 2 deer feed out about 40 yards down wind from me a hour later, but behind some sapplings, and never smelled me at all. I watched them for about 45 minutes and well past legal light and decide I had to go. Climbed down quiet as I could and they had moved off but still out in the field down wind. Once out in the field they saw me and trotted off. No flags but they did not want to hang out any longer. I did spray down with HS Scent eliminator before my hunt but I would of thought for sure they would bust me from my sweat generated. I am still not convinced the scent clothing is worth the high $$$ they ask. I have these types of encounters way to many times to think I "need" it. JMO

Re: Bad Deal I would try and get the landowner and a game warden to hook up and maybe impound this deer at the very least. Poaching on private property AND killing a deer is not looked upon lightly in most game wardens eyes. It sucks you guys were not able to close out the deal.

Re: Thank you Mathews Wow that is fast for anytime of the year. Really fast this time of year. Good to know they put into consideration that its hunting season and most guys can not do without their bows for long. Congrats on getting it squared away.

Re: If you had $15 burnin a hole in your pocket....??? [ QUOTE ] I would look at a bow sling. I really like the one that Primos has come out with and have been thinking about it myself. [/ QUOTE ] Got one already and yes they are sweet. Love mine. I am not sure about that Buck Roar call yet. Have not heard enough about it to drop cash on one. Thinking if I do get a call it will be the Primos Rubber Neck (if I can find it locally). As for scent. Huh who knows there. Tinks 69 just does not get me results up here.. -
I posted last week about sending an email to G5 asking where to buy replacement fiber optics for my new-to-me Optix LE sight. They said they were mailing me out a free set. Cool! I get the box yesterday and its sorta big for 5 pieces of fiber optics. I open it to find a sweet looking black G5 Pro Staff ball cap in there too. I love this company...

1st let me state, You have everything you NEED to bow hunt already. LOL However if you had $15 burnin' a hole in your pocket, what would you buy for bow season hunting? I am in this situation with 7 days off in a row coming up tommorow and a "need" to have something new to take with me. I am considering a new grunt call or some scent but have not clue what I should grab. LOL I guess I need to window shop 1st huh. What would you go grab?

Re: PAPER CUT HUNT Serve you right you inconsiderate private land hunter. LOL Oh well is how you chalk that one up I guess. Just glad the folks who stopped earlier did not trash your truck... Heck I worry about that on my own property... Good Luck man..

Re: Team 4 [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] May I ask why your not going to enter her? You can upgrade if you score on something bigger... If not then why post pics of her here? Just to tease those of us that have not shot one yet? LMAO. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't say I was never going to enter her. I'm just not going to enter her YET. I know I can upgrade but with so much deer season ahead of me I just don't feel like entering twice. Don't worry you will get your points. Why post pics? I wanted to share my kill with my teammates. I cannot help it if you cannot shoot deer. [/ QUOTE ] LOL I am not worried about your posting points. I know you will. And dont feel bad. No one can help it if I can not shoot deer. Heck I cant it seems. LOL

Re: stand hieght??? For years 16 foot was as high all my hang-ons were. This was due to using a stick ladder during set up and tree pegging the trees. I then removed the stick ladder. We now have 3 stands, all exactly 29 feet high (not on purpose) for bow hunting, 2 at about 25 feet high for rifle, a ladder at 14 feet high, and one hang on at 18 but any higher would expose the hunter. Then an assortment of 0 feet high ground blinds. LOL

Re: Floating Scope? I was going to suggest different ammo too. My Marlin bolt action had that issueonce. It likes the cheapo winchester stuff thankfully. LOL

Re: dont let this happen to you [ QUOTE ] Two words - Whisker Biscuit. Hate to hear of that happening to you, but the Biscuit would elimate that problem for you in the future. [/ QUOTE ] Beat me to it. LOL Sorry to hear it took off like that but I bet if you would of not moved so quickly he would of eventually looked away giving you a better chance at getting to full draw un-noticed. JMO

Re: Had an almost........ [ QUOTE ] Just getting the chance to see a deer is all most of us want. The harvest is just frosting. [/ QUOTE ] Geesh aint that the truth. I feel successful when my set ups get me near deer, or when I get to at least see their fall patterns, etc... to formulate plans. Bagging one is the cream...

Re: 30 - 30 ?? I shot my 2nd buck with one manynyears ago. I had borrowed it and shot it only a few time to check the scope and then once at my deer at about 80 yards. Did the job IMHO. I prefer other calibers but that will kill deer dead. LOL

Re: What\'s hard.... Wait a minute. Your complaining because you've been only 3 or 4 times, shot and missed one, and have been seeing all sorts of deer? Huh. I have been out twice as many times and have seen very few (5 total during legal light no where near me), no shots at all. Id say your season is going well IMHO. LOL Good Luck and go git-em.

Re: realtree roadtrips fleece.... Fleece has always just been one of my layer not my main camo. I do not know exact of this fleece or how heavy/insulated it is but I am sure it will be warm. I suspect you will definately need more for the cooler weather.

Re: NYBUCK\'S 2006 6-POINT Nice buck for sure but hey dont look now but theres another deer RIGHT BEHIND YOU! LOL Congrats on a fine and heavy buck.

Re: Washing your under cloths? I agree, even if you dont get HS wipes, try and get as scent free wipes as possible. It may be scented but its 100x better then human sweat and stink. Then I too would pack extra under garments if need be. Hang your stuff out as much as possible when not hunting in it. To include your long underwear, socks, etc. JMO

Re: My Muzzy ate well.... Nice the get it done and so close to the stand. Way to go.

Re: some good luck WOW that aweosme. I feel bad for guys who have to look for places to hunt, and get stuck with over pressure public land. Thats very cool. Congrats on the freebee that fell into your laps. LOL Now go thin out his herd and make his wife happy.
