Re: Rifle for Quebec Caribou?? [ QUOTE ] They aren't that tough and shots can be short or long. Many are killed each year with bows. I used my 7 mag when I went and first one was 3oo yards and second was 50 yards so one of each. I would think anything you are comfortable with from 270 up would be good. [/ QUOTE ] I've read of guys killing them with slug guns as well (close range) i dont think it would really matter.

Re: It\'s great to be a democrat!!! [ QUOTE ] don't hold you breath on bush pardoning very many folks... then analyze whe he does pardon... frankly, you'll have to go a long ways to find another president who does what clinton did. at least, i sure do hope so. [/ QUOTE ] You mean the murder/rapest he pardoned in Iowa Because he had "turned to god"

Re: It\'s great to be a democrat!!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] ......all you ever get on this forum is stupid, idiot, bleeding heart,un-american,commie,soicialist, wimp. its just as bad as anything the liberals throw out there. [/ QUOTE ] Carbonhunter......... I sense your uneasiness with some of my terminology. I use the word "dumb" (from Merriam-Webster : "not having the capability to process data") because that's just what I meant. I suppose I could have used "oblivious" or "ignorant" or "uneducated". Maybe those sound more P.C. Maybe I get a little fervent in my posts in this room. What you maybe don't realize is how much I hold back in here due to website constraints. I feel waaay more strongly about my convictions than you know. So I calls 'em as I sees 'em. I'm really good at using the term "socialist". It's not because it is a derrogatory tag term. It defines a system of governing. And the leadership of today's democrat party are preaching and practicing european socialism. Many democrat conressmen are card-carrying members of the U.S. socialist party. What other term is there for them??? [/ QUOTE ] Like i said strut my reply wasnt aimed towards you (well i guess if i quote you it is kinda). I have a pretty good feeling where your convictions lie, we have gone back and forth in here for a long time, and i respect every moment of it. The reason for what i said is more between the lines. Alot posts that come out of this room make us look like a bunch of dumb rednecks(and i know that couldnt be farther from the truth) I think we need to realize that BOTH parties are far from there roots and (all) american politicians need a swift kick in the rear. I dont see where aiming the shot at one party does anyone any good. two wrongs never make a right....much fewer words than the last post but says the same thing.

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware i agree with ya doughboy, i just think the facts are kinda funny after reading through the thread.

Re: Snake Boots Really?? I didnt know that William, i havnt talked to Nut in awhile, but ya he lives in Southeast Ohio (or i think he still does). I dont doubt the fact though, that part of the state is all old quarry ground and mining ground if I would guess a spot where they would be thats it. I used to wonder alot when we would early season grouse/woodcock hunt around ponds and because of all the rock and shale formations. They say thats where the timber Rattlers are as well, I never ran across one though.

Re: primos team question?? Like the looks of that....alot just another reason to spend some money. Anyone here tried one?

Re: What kind of rifle for my boy? [ QUOTE ] I just took my eight year lod step daughter deer hunting for her first time this year. she shot a nice little six pointer. she shot a 223 h&r ,and i was kinda suprised at the job it done. about a 100 yard shot. the deer went about 20 yards one way about 20 yards the other ,and then it was steaks for supper [/ QUOTE ] thats a tiny little pill for a deer.

Re: managed-recoil? [ QUOTE ] see if she can borrow strut's 375, tell her it is gunna kick a little. After she shoots that there should be no felt recoil with any other caliber. of course if you actually try this I'd call you an idiot [/ QUOTE ] Good idea...really, I used to HATE recoil when i was young (got bit by a slug gun) till someone put a OTPG in my hand and said YES its going to kick and it does. After you shoot it more and more though you realize "hey I still have eyes and my shoulder isnt broke" After that point I loved things that make big bangs. Give her an open sight big gun, then put her on the ground cross-legged the body will take the recoil and rock her back with the shot. scope should never come near the eye if she does it right. Recoil for me is like big heights........i cured it by going sky diving. edit: i forgot something also...how about a slip on recoil pad or padded shooting shirt??? or get a Sims style pad.....there are lots of options to try at least before just calling it quits.

Re: It\'s great to be a democrat!!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Unfortunately some people will always vote for dems because the dems help them maintain there lifestyles of soaking up the money we pay in taxes. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think it's just that. What I see are a lot of people (some close relatives included) who, for the lack of a better way to put it, don't know any better. I routinely ask certain questions to people I know who are democrats or who have voted that way............questions concerning their opinions on gay marriage, taxes, guns, abortion......a bunch of the litmus items. More often than not, the answers they give have no correlation with the mainstream democrat positions on the topics. I contend that many, many Pennsylvanians (and I can't think it's much different elsewhere) are democrats because their daddy was one, his daddy was one and they were told that they was one, too. If a person truly believes in his heart in the core democrat principles, then bully for him. I don't have a problem with it. It's the people who think as conservatives but are (excuse me, please) too danged dumb to know any better that irk me. [/ QUOTE ] I grew up thinking i was a democrate, till i started out in the real world(i prefere my money to stay in my pocket) Based on the LITMUS test im a republican, and am so registered but Following the leader or wagoon dosnt make for much fun when it comes to debates, all you ever get on this forum is stupid, idiot, bleeding heart,un-american,commie,soicialist, wimp. its just as bad as anything the liberals throw out there. Its just As DUMB as not knowing where you stand on the fence. The Dixi chick Post in the Lobby is a great idea, everyone blamed the commies, except there album did sell well (could'a fooled me) Im not aiming this at strut or anyone else, just some food for thought. Realtree rules the web untill you come into this room, then its just as bad as FlyFisherman Of America only from the flip view. Ya know what tyhey say happens when you stoop to the level of your competition (and thats just what the republican party has done the last 8 years) You wind up being neck and neck with soomeone your much better than.

Re: GOOD GRIEF!!!!! [ QUOTE ] I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of hearing about Anna Nicole Smith's death, how it might have occured, who might have done it, who is now claiming to be the father of her baby, yada yada yada. For Pete's sake!!! Isn't there anything else to talk about????? [/ QUOTE ] Yup News sucks anymore

Re: Dixie Chicks take home hardware [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] They still play them alot in Canada, can't stand them! Everytime they come on I ussually shut the radio off! [/ QUOTE ] If it was your PM, you country would feel about them the way most red blooded Americans over here do. Of course you have your left wing wackos and the liberals that are happy with what they said. Their crappy music is not allowed in my home what-so-ever. If it comes on the TV...the TV gets changed. [/ QUOTE ] Its not the left wing wackos and the liberals from Canada that won the hardware for Dixie Chicks. From the release below its red blooded Americans at home that did. May 31, 2006, 10:55 AM ET Katie Hasty, N.Y. For the third time in their career, the Dixie Chicks roost on the top of The Billboard 200. The Columbia album "Taking the Long Way" tallied 526,000 copies in its first week of U.S. sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the trio's best-selling week since 2002's "Home" debuted with 780,000. And while country radio has remained cool to the group in the wake of a 2003 boycott following comments group member Natalie Maines made about President Bush, "Taking the Long Way" also nabs the No. 1 spot on the Country Albums chart, bumping Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang" (Lyric Street/Hollywood) down to No. 2 after seven weeks at the top. Also, few pop radio stations opted to take a chance on "Not Ready To Make Nice," although Atlanta CHR radio station WSTR did add the song to its playlist belatedly in June 2006. The song topped VH1's fan voted top 20 video countdown for 13 straight weeks, making it the longest running video at the #1 spot on the countdown. [/ QUOTE ] I find it funny that this is the last post on this subject, i think there new album is awful i wouldnt even call it country. Sooooo guys how does that Shoe leather taste? To bad the Real Red Blooded Americans didnt get a vote between that and the candian comment......i dont know what is funnier This forum is no better than the grammys one spot is 99% left the other is 99% right And this post prob should have been in the political room because thats all its about.

Re: G. Love and Special Sauce? [ QUOTE ] I just got the new G. Love cd entitled Lemonade. Its AWESOME! I never really knew about G. Love until his band opened for Dave Mathews Band over the Summer in Pittsburgh PA. That concert was awesome. Dave played 34 songs in two days. Of course I went to both days. Has anyone else heard of G. Love and Special Sauce? [/ QUOTE ] Ya he is out of west Philly, I used to listen to alot of his stuff in high school and went to see him at three or four small concert halls in columbus. He and Jack Johnson started off together on the "can you kick it" song back in '97

Re: Secret spot [ QUOTE ] I was fishing a bass tournament on the St Johns River near Palatka about 20 years ago. During practice, I located a concentration of bass in a small pool at the end of a canal. The only problem was the low hanging foot bridge that spanned the canal. My bass boat was about 4 inches too tall to fit under it. What I did was idle up to the bridge, then pull the drain plug (which I had inserted from the inside of the hull) and let the boat fill up with water. When it had taken on enough water to slip under the bridge, I reinserted the plug, lay down in the boat and moved it past the bridge into the pool. Once into the pool, I turned on my bilge pump and bilged out the excess water, then proceeded to fish the secluded spot. When I got ready to leave, I had to repeat the process of filling the boat up with water, moving under the bridge, and then pumping it back out. [/ QUOTE ] think i remember seeing a guy on bassmasters do that same thing.

Re: Snake Boots Gotcha, In ohio I dont think I EVER saw one, although they claimed that southern ohio had a good number of timber rattlers. I have read that parts of PA are full of the buggers. I said in the above post i see them alot on golf courses around here, but even though i spend every weekend out in the desert i havnt come across one yet. That said i think I will get a pair, i dont want to be two miles in the rocks and make a mistake.

Re: It\'s great to be a democrat!!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Democrats live in an imaginary world... [/ QUOTE ] ...........and people still keep voting for them. [/ QUOTE ] I think most politicians do.....anywhere that you can vote to give yourself a raise is imaginary, anywhere that you can spend $1.2trillion on something but not include it in a budget is imaginary, anyone who thinks its okay to grant blanket amnesty or "guest worker" to a couple million people is living in an imaginary world. I really dont see the differance between appointing someone convicted of a crime to youth development and appointing a mining millionair to the head of the B.L.M. its all a crock i dont see where one party is more guilty of this than another. They all are of another planet.

Re: Snake Boots Have you ran afowl any yet A.J.? When i first moved down here i would see them alot chasing golf balls. Havnt seen any snakeproof golf shoes yet,but my nine iron got a good work out. I havnt run into any out messing in the hills yet(kinda odd). I guess this is an investment i should prob make. How often do you guys in the south run afoul of our scaled friends? I also see alot of you PA and upper midwest guys have them. You really think ya need them?
