Re: first deer with my bow Thanks all ......... Yes it is awesome,,,, I've been doing alot more bow hunting in the past 2 years than using my gun. I plan on going back out friday to the same spot i was at last friday... then back to the other on saturday. Hopefully i tag a buck .......

Re: first deer with my bow I've been bow hunting for about 8 years now. Road the roller coaster of near misses adrenaline rush, missing shots "over-under", but this time i managed to keep myself in check and not rush my shot. I've learned how to stay calm, breath slowly and be above all PATIENCE is the key. It might have only been a doe, but what a rush it was ......... Sorry about not having any pictures wife left our digital camera in her sons car friday night.

I went out friday and got a late start, in the woods by 8:30 at my spot around 9:30... I found somewhat of a honey hole where deer travel through. saw 3 doe's and 2 bucks but they never offered a shot. Saturday i went to another area that i hunt on private land. This spot i've seen deer between 11 and 1pm everytime i go there. so i get to my spot around 10. This spot i hunt which has a under ground stream running through it, so i'm at the top of hill overlooking it, rubs and scraps all along the side of the hill. I use'd my grunt tube several times, around noon 1 see 3 doe's about 40 yards from comming up from the bottom, then about a minute later, i hear a crashing sound comming from the bottom right moving across to the left and comming up. I kneel down on 1 knee and out pops 2 mature doe's. I draw back waiting for a buck to come out, i didnt see one behind them so i dropped one. They we're about 15 yaards from me. When the arrow hit, she dropped in her tracks and started to crawl a little down the hill where she layed up. I was pretty pumped that this was my first deer with my bow.

Re: Pre rut activity and rain Ohhhh dont worry i dont stay home just because its raining....... the weather should be in my favor, not suppose to rain now until late in the afternoon..... I'll be in my spot around 6 , sun up around 6:45....

This is kind of a lame question but since i havent posted one in a while lol .... Do you think that when its raining the deer are still up and active during the pre rut? I dont mean pouring but lets say a light steady rain..... 60% chance of rain friday here and i was planning on going out.......

TC Omega Z5 is a new gun and my parents asked me if i wanted one for christmas.... Has anyone heard any pro's or cons about this muzzle loader ?

Re: Public Land Hunting? Public land hunting can be very frustrating. I've been several times and i've seen guys go as far as chain stands to trees to "CLAIM" there spot. I've moved on until i found a spot that i've been pretty certain that i wont be bothered or step on anyone. Public land is public, first come first served .. It's everyone's, but i still respect another persons CLAIMED SPOT.. even though i dont agree with it... I sometimes hunt a 7000 acre public hunting land and will walk for over an hour to make sure i get far enough away from everyone. I'm usually in the woods alot earlier when going to this area, and will only go there during the week m-f , not saturdays.......

Re: New Addition to the family We have a male that is 13 years old,,,,,,, still pretty active ... we had a female that we bred once, just to give the kids an opportunity to experience the birth and everything associated with it. But she passed away this year , the day after my birthday... she was only 7 and had a very rare blood disease that took her from us.... we fought the good fight and tried though .....

Re: New Addition to the family Yeah she's a cutie,,, has a little blue tick spots around her neck.... My wife has already spoiled her, she falls asleep in her lap and i keep pointing to her bed to lay her down... tomorrow will be a week that we've had her and she's listening really good now and almost house broke..... thank god for carpet cleaners ..... I'll post more pics in a couple of days in my album .............

Was wondering if anyone knew of a tick repellant that doesnt have an odor to it,,,, bow season is comming up and ticks will still be on the prowl .......
