I'm excited. Went out to watch a field last night and saw a nice buck right under my stand. Not the monster I've seen out there, but still a nice buck. Some does were milling around, but out of bow range. Now if the girls will just get closer, I can fill my doe requirement for the lottery hunt and then go after the buck.
Oh yeah!! I've hung a chain-on at a lottery hunt site along with a feeder(legal in Ohio, actually suggested by the director) and located a tree for the climber ( gotta get a doe first before I can go after the big boy I've seen where my chain-on is.). I added a ladder stand over a feeder in a little patch of woods in Greene Co. It's quite open on one side so I put a dummy in it. It's working, too. That's where I'll probably be opening morning.
I get creeped-out once in a while, but in my part of Ohio we don't have things that will eat you. (I imagine a pack of coyotes could do damage.) We are starting to get some wild farm hogs just north of Dayton, that may be an issue someday. Right now, my worse fear is surprising a skunk on the way in to my stand!! I always use a flashlight now! Had one hopping sideways away from me once with it's tail raised and you can bet I as moving in the opposite direction as fast as I could!
I'm a Parker fan, too. I have the Ultralite and love it. When I shoot at the range, I almost always hear the guys in the background commenting on how quite my bow is. It makes me smile.
