Artic Shield parka and bibs. Snow seal them and go hunting. The parka is extremely warm and lightweight.

Just for you Randy! Here is a Horned Puffin. That dark line above his eye is actually a fleshy horn. Birds with horns. Who'd have thought! I took this picture at the sealife center in Seward. Though I saw plenty of Puffins while fishing. Photographing one from a small open center console in the rain and rough seas just wasn't happening. It was hard enough at the sealife center to get this picture. Puffins are more nervous than a hummingbird on crack! Toughest to photograph bird I've ever encountered. Maybe they are calm sometimes. I never saw it. Thank my wife for this next one and Kathleen for suggesting she try and get it. Those two work together well! Kathleen was a great host. I can only hope we were as good as guests. I did lug some fresh brown shrimp from here and a pile of smoked sausage up there. Kathleen and her family were very polite as they choked down some of my cooking. Here are the two most absolutely classic ways to see Alaska in one picture!

I'm glad you all like it, it really is fabulous. No one has guessed who I stayed with yet. Hmmm. A couple more. Exit Glacier Resurrection Bay

Got to agree with Buckee here. When paint has settled for that long it takes an electric mixer an amazingly long time to get the solids loose from the bottom. In my experience, and Buckee probably has more than me when paint has really settled out, even an electric shaker won't work. A drill attached paint mixer is the way to go. Keep in mind, it might take several minutes (sometimes as long as 10minutes) before you start to see a difference.

My wife and I recently had a fabulous visit with a certain forum member here. This was her trip. So I didn't hunt. Black Bear season was open but I wanted to experience Alaska as much as possible with my bride. We also wanted to be as little an imposition on our hosts as possible. I hope we weren't difficult guests. She's pretty enamored with Alaska right now. I doubt I could return without her. Here's a couple of picts from the trip. And believe me we got TONS! A minor moosy looking area. Moose like this bottom scrub. There are places that are even better. And yes, we did see some. This is the kind of thing you see up there so frequently you don't even think to snap a picture of it. I'm so glad I did. I miss it already. A part of me feels like it is still there.

That pretty much covers it. The trajectory difference is 7 inches at 500yds. That's a significant difference at that range. But at average hunting ranges (under 300yds) the difference is practically negligible. At 200 yds the difference between the two is only around 0.5 inch. On a 1/4moa adjustment scope that's just one click! If you need more energy delivered further down range then the 270WSM is the way to go. If your hunting area requires you to anchor animals as close to the point of impact as possible, then more energy really helps. Examples: The hit game animal is a threat to jump off a cliff, exit land you can legally hunt or jump into a swift moving river. If those are possibilities than the more energy you can throw at the game animal the better your recovery chances are. Overkilled animals seem to always make it to the freezer. The trajectory difference out to 300yds, however isn't really enough to worry about. To me the decision is based more on how much energy you need to swiftly anchor the animal in a recoverable area than trajectory difference.

That's an extremely generous offer Kathleen. Someone is gonna get a good rifle and hunt Hope you get a sheep with it. That will make it even more special. I have seen you shoot it. You just need a sheep out front now. Say hi to Terry for me.

Me and Aksheephuntress' son Montana. My biggest Silver salmon for the day. Montana just boated his first salmon minutes ago and was still grinning. Great folks great time. My wife and I took piles of pictures. What an awesome trip!

If you go to a 400gr arrow you'll probably be shooting around 270FPS. Your K.E. will change very little and may actually be a little higher than it is now. You will loose speed, you may possibly gain a little K.E. and probably extend the life of your bow.

Almost missed it! Have a great day Tim!

A buddy of mine in Texas hunts pigs year round. He is pretty impressed with Wild Game innovations "Pig Lickkor"

Some real good advice/info in those posts Steve. Well done!

From where you are your best bet is to head west around Scottsboro AL.

Hope you get it before some "well-intentioned" moron decides the "Brown" ones should be protected.

Not that I personally need any convincing the Hogg Wrap is an amazing improvement. Yep, it's good!

Please no one take this as a knock against Realtree. That's not my intention. Sambar Hunter (Sambar's are really cool deer by the way), If you are having trouble finding a pattern that's a good match for your environment ALWAYS choose the darkest pattern that's close. Bright patterns are absolutely awesome when they are a good match but if they are brighter than your surroundings you will stick out like there is a spotlight on you. If you are a little darker than the surroundings you just look like a shadow is being cast on you. You are more likely to be ignored if you look shadowed and aren't a good match for your surroundings. In short if you find a good match, go with it. Otherwise, a darker pattern is a safer bet.

I wouldn't try to load my own blanks. That could be a very dangerous proposition. If you don't need an auto to cycle you could just prime some hulls and crimp them shut with nothing (no wad, no powder, no shot cup, NOTHING) in them. A primer by itself makes a pretty impressive bang. Zoobear is right. A blank with a wad in it can kill somebody. Actor Jon-Erik Hexum accidently killed himself with a "blank" in 1984. Even loaded with blanks. They are still guns.

You were definitely just around the corner from me. Hilton Head is just a short drive away. More sharks off our coast here than I've seen in seven years. Those blacktips are real fighters and they do get much bigger. They will also jump completely out of the water while hooked up. Very exciting sharks to catch.

That's a super nice job! Congrats on the trophy and the fish.

I know three folks that have them. They are all extremely impressed with the sights and the company. The Hogg Wrap according to them is "WORTH IT". One of these guys shoots pigs a night with his regularly. So you better believe I take his endorsement seriously. One guy had a problem with adjusting his and Spot Hoggs tech person walked him through it step by step. Good company, good sights, I'm convinced. Next sight I buy will be one of theirs.
