  2. Re: Golden Retrievers We have a two year old Golden. You will not go wrong with this breed. The only downside is they need frequent brushing. If you don't mind hairy clothes than there is no better dog for your family.

    Woe is me

Re: Woe is me Thanks for the feedback. Went out last night to give it one last shot. It had snowed in the morning so tracking was impossible. We wandered the big woods hoping for luck to be on our side. Nothing. Feel good knowing we did all we could.
  5. Re: Leaving loaded between hunts?? Learning the hard way about temp. changes. If you don't have confidence in the powder than its time to change it.
  6. Re: Deer Activity? Up here in Sask. we have snow and minus temps. Boy did that get the deer moving. On a short drive I'll see +100 deer. Gotta love our weather.
  7. Re: Best Buck Pic Ever Wow. Look at the height.
  8. Re: Before and after 10 pointer Great buck. Great pics.

  10. I've had my powder for 3 years...just wondering if it will go bad. Should it be stored a certain way? Thanks for the feedback

    Woe is me

Just had to talk...last night I was out with my muzzleloader and shot a nice buck. It went down hard but got up 10 seconds later and ran directly into the bush. We tracked it for 3 hours with flashlights. Going out again tonight. For me this is the absolute worst part of hunting. I'm hanging up my muzzleloader for the season...wait till rifle. Sure makes one feel like a poor hunter.
  12. Glad your coming north. Layers are key. Don't skimp on quality clothing. We already have a 1/2 foot of snow on the ground. When I go out for the day I wear thermal underwear(head to toe), a good wind protection layer, warm parka and my white fleece overalls. The first thing that will get cold are your feet or your hands. Wear something warm. In fact I would pack some heat packs with me. Nothing worse than making a shivering shot. Good luck...hope that monster whitetail keeps you in mind.
  13. Re: Too bad Yeah, I know how he feels. This year I shot a young 5x5. Tracked it for a couple of hours...nothing. Searched for two weeks when I finally came upon the skull and front leg. Made me feel sick. Tell him to keep his head up. You did all you could.

    hunting tips

Re: hunting tips Welcome. My one tip is to do exactly what your doing. Ask questions and lots of them. Saskman was my whitetail tutor. I learned a tonne from him. In the field experience will teach you very quickly. Best learning subject out there.
  16. Re: hunting camo phuuwey Getting up high was the key. I've found that if I have branches or something breaking up my silhouette that works just as well. Still gotta love the camo.
  17. Re: Taking the boy hunting tomorrow... I can't wait to do the same thing. My little ones arriving just in time for Xmas. Only have to wait a FEW more years.
  18. Re: Whould you shoot a deer while waling to your stand In a heart beat. Last year all my deer were taken by spot and stalk.
  19. Re: Biggest Trophy..!? 2003 - I was 27 (4th year of hunting) - typical 4x4 scored 163 6/8ths, non typical it went 179 2/8ths. The hunt for this guy made him my trophy...seeing that he scored so high helped matters too!
