I'll be heading beginning Oct 1 here in IL. Will hunt bow and gun. Lucky to have two large farms to hunt with very little pressure. My biggest challenge will be time to get out. Good luck all!

Tominator- I cut a 12" hedge log last summer and had it sawed into quarters to dry. I cut these quarters in half on my bandsaw and made them available to my kids in Shop class to make long bows. Two kids took the challenge and made bows from scratch. It was a lot of work with a draw knife and spokeshave, but they were successful. I have several staves remaining and maybe I'll have time this summer to make my own bow. Good luck to you! Arnie

Re: Your Best Shot? You bet I'm reading Tom's story about his Illinois doe. I could never pull off the shot he made on that fat old doe. I always try for a double lung shot. Tom feels an arrow to the ham will take 'em out faster. I guess he proved me wrong. (At least on that doe) My best shot? 20 yard ground squirrel with High Country bow and Muzzy broadhead on carbon arrows. Used to shoot at butterflies with bb gun when I was a kid. As a younger adult, we used to shoot at lady bugs with bb guns while enjoying turkey camp. Oh, no, the be kind to insect people will be after me now.

Re: Team 24 Passed up a couple of does tonight at 40 yards. Saw 20 deer between 3:45 and 5:15. Young bucks were dogging does. Saw 4 bucks and 2 does today at noon while showing some friends around my hunting area. Gonna be a crazy week for deer! Good luck all.
